Yes, same here. So convincing as being pissed up. Lots of subtle stuff going on there. I remember Anthony Hopkins explaining that in order to do drunk well it's all about subtlety and trying to not appear drunk, like we do sometimes when we're quite gone.
Did you hear them cheer when Kathy said 'I don't think I've seen anybody play a drunk as well as Steve McFadden' So fucking true, that guy deserves a special Bafta for his drunk acting alone!
defo when he leaves eastenders which he will someday hopefully he will win a bafta doubt it though cos soap actors are often looked down on even though some are better actors and more deserving of these so called Hollywood a listers
totally agree, the baftas can be really snobby, especially when it comes to soap stars there was one year at the baftas when June Brown was nominated for best actress and when she didn't win there was a big outcry and Barbara Windsor said they were snobs
Yes. Another person who can "Cry" on cue back in the day was Heather Tom (Ex-Victoria Newman Y & R) who now plays Katie On The Bold & The Beautiful. It's like someone snaps a finger and then she cries. She even had the audacity to Slap her "Father" Victor Newman (Eric Braedan).
Definitely deserved. Eastenders wouldn't be the same without him and can't wait to see what he can bring out in the future. Hopefully he has more awards to his name by the time he retires.
My mum has served this absolute legend in her work, and has said that he’s one of the nicest people she’s met 💛 he said she’s got a lovely smile that’s something coming from him!
I agree he's the best actor in the show, and the whole cast is pretty damn good. I like the way he keeps a low public profile too. It's quite refreshing and I respect him more for that.
What's so inspiring is the fact that steve mcfadden was only brought in the show for 6 months with ross kemp in 1990 by micheal fegurson after that two legends were born ... Who would have thought out off all the people that have come on the show since then , that phil will still be in it 👌💪💗⚡ICONIC LEGEND .
He really is a brilliant actor and up until this he didn’t eat the credit he deserved because people didn’t know Steve they only know Phil and that is a sign of a brilliant actor and character
Steve Mcfadden always stays out of the limelight. Even when Eastenders wins best soap and all the cast goes on stage, it is always someone else speaking and Steve stands to the side.
@TheGooners11 it may be one character but has played different characteristics, a believable hardman, a drunk, a father, a husband and grief stricken man losing his mother, a brother and a bully. Yes it's one character but numerous characteristics that he displayed believably and tremendously.
@TheGooners11 a good actor is subjective to each person. We don't know if he's getting offers for sgetting offerstage and screens gigs unless his agents is putting rumours out. His an award for acknowledging his duty for EastEnders for over 20 years. If you don't like his acting then that's alright but he's constantly in EastEnders because viewers love him and the Crew love him which is why he keeps getting storylines.
Also his contract may stop him from accepting other roles as movies take many months away from home and EastEnders allows him to work and be home to spend time with his children. Everything is not as black and white as it seems.
Am I the only one who think that Adam Woodyat's just about the nicest person in the world. He seems such a lovely genuine person with a heart of gold. Just read on line about his son being hit buy a car n it was serious touch n go for for a while had to under go emergency surgery learn to walk again etc fingers crossed hes ok now very sad but at least hes ok alive and on the mend the main thing. Yeh seems a smart fella does Adam Woodyatxxxxx...........
I knew steve get award he's deserve it I was waited for ages for steve get award been amazing character 26 years I wish ross kemp be on eastenders for ages
If Steve McFadden had portrayed a drunk in a top Hollywood film, he 100% would’ve won a Oscar Award easily. This man is a elite level actor and truly is one of the greatest in British tv history. What a icon 💯
He seems.like a top bloke I've seen him.interviewd many times weather it's about EastEnders or panto etc he's not at all taking this for granted he like Adam says he just turns up and does the job he's amazing guy would love to shake him by the hand and say thanks and good job
I've been saying for years and years that he deserved this but not till recently over the alcohol storyline everyone has started saying oh he deserves an award when I think of EastEnders I think of Steve McFadden don't get me wrong I know Adam (Ian) has been in it the longest but Phil wow just wow he is the best actor I've ever seen that acts drunk my fav time was when he was drunk and on drugs with Rainee Tanya's sister outstanding actor
Should have won a golden globe award for his drunk acting. He’s a perfectionist at his craft when it comes to that sort of stuff. Steve is just too great 💯
Did you know that the set of eastenders was once the set of Auf Weidesein Pet when they were in Germany (obviously they weren't in Germany) but that was the original site where Albert Square is now..
1995 i worked at grand Hotel in leic not a nice memory however steve was staying at the hotel never did see him but it was nice to know he was a around
Facts 💯 technically he’s the greatest. Don’t get me wrong Anita Dobson and Kellie bright are fantastic at portraying a drunk but Steve McFadden is from a different planet when it comes to that stuff. I don’t think anyone can play a better drunk than him ❤
I could not believe how quiet Steve was and a really nice guy but the way he act as Phil is just hilariously insane especially when he’s so loud and get so drunk!😂 This is why i’m a fan of Phil Mitchell just like everyone else! Phil is actually a very caring person and deals with all the bad people and other situations he has to deal with but when he’s drunk, he gets angry and his thuggery behaviour which I find it very funny! There’s one more thing to say to him “Eh?, Hmm? Ugh!? Wot!?”😂😂😂😂 You wot…..YOU WOT!!??”😂😂😂😂
As of October 2022, Steve McFadden has appeared in total of 3430 episodes of EastEnders, second most out of all EastEnders actors of all time. Second only, of course, to Adam Woodyatt's 3968. Given that Adam has departed from EastEnders, while Steve is still on the show, there is no doubt that Steve will take that honor over. Nobody deserves to take that honor from Adam more then Steve McFadden.
i still can't help but feel the character's been overused, but that sort of makes the character special in it's own way. a good cause for a special recognition
I wish they had given an award of this caliber to Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) from The Young & The Restless 1991-Present. He's the longest running African American Contract Player next to James Reynolds (Abe Carver) Days Of Our Lives.
Just imagine if it was the way round his younger brother Grant aka Ross kemp who had stayed instead of Steve on the longer. But do say both Phil and Grant will die as old men
