I love 80's music. No fancy dancer's, no flashing lights,no lip sync, just singer's playing their own instruments. Still see oldies concerts when I can.🤗😗😙😚
I feel exactly the same about Steve as you just said. To this day, he's one of those "Wow" men that stay on my hottie list. His voice alone puts him on the list. The looks are a bonus. Lol
This is a Solo Album by Steve Perry, called Street Talk, Journey played no part in his Album. Yes that was Sherri, they were together for about 5 years and a lot of them Rocky. This Album was made in 1984 and it wasn’t long after the album dropped they did split for good. A lot of their problems were due to Steve being away so much and he even went as far as to hire an RV, for one tour and he took her on the road with him and he drove the RV from Venue to Venue just so he could spend more time with her but it’s like the song Faithfully, life with a Music Man ain’t What it’s supposed to be and Journey toured most of the year. He did try though so I figure he must have really loved her. Just as Jonathan Cains marriage broke down not long after he wrote Patiently. Steve’s never been married. 🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇺🇸🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
yes, all so very true ... Steve really loved 💜 Sherri, but the rock star life on the road was very hard on them ... and they parted still having strong feelings, to this very day remaining great friends ... over any and all relationships Steve has had in his life, I really believe his once in a lifetime soul mate/true love happened when he insisted on meeting the beautiful Dr Kellie Nash in June 2011, despite knowing she had cancer ... and they immediately fell "head over heels" in love 💜 ... they maybe would have even married someday, if fate hadn't stepped in, as he tragically lost Kellie to that cancer in Dec 2012, just a short year and a half later ... she is a precious true angel 😇 ... her parting gift 🎁 to the whole world 🌎 was in bringing Steve back to us musically 🎶, by making him promise to not go back onto isolation after she was gone ... we will all be forever grateful 🙏 to her for doing that !! ... ever since Oct 2018, we continue to occasionally receive new music 🎶 from our gorgeous talented man, and hopefully there is much much more to come !! 💜🎶💜
I have always adored Steve Perry!! Steve and Journey are one of the bands that shaped my teenage years (music wise)! IMO, Steve Perry has one of the greatest voices of all time!! Thank you for reacting to him/them India!! I look forward to more!!! 🥰
I love this - Journey as a group didn’t like making videos (most of their videos look or are live) and this plays on it! The girl in the video is the actual Sheri!! I was in USMC boot camp with her brother! We all thought he was full of BS, until he showed us a photo of his family eating with Steve and Sheri!
Swooooon........Steve Perry is still fine in his 60z. One of the top voices of rock history. Glad i lived the 80z era. I was a freshman in high school when this came out. Great memories. Great choice of song.
@QueenJoose Laconia ... lol 🙂, Steve was actually 70 or 71 when you posted this ... but yes, he was still just as fine 💜 !! ... right now, 4/19/22, he has reached age 73, and he is still as hot 🔥 and sexy as ever ... maybe even more so ... during the pandemic, Steve stopped coloring his hair, which started later in life as he began to go gray ... now he's a gorgeous, sexy, hot silver fox 🔥🔥 with still the most amazing Voice ever !! ... Stephen Ray Perry will forever be the G.O.A.T. !! 💜💜💜
I grew up loving the music of my parents from the 60s. Little did I know then that the soundtrack playing on the radio would be the music that means so much to me today, 30-40 years later.
Can't get any more 80's nostalgia than that. Love his voice. Try these other 80's gems: Jeopardy - Greg Kihn Band Talking In Your Sleep - The Romantics Big In Japan - Alphaville Tarzan Boy - Baltimora Missing You - John Waite
I love seeing a young person as yourself, enjoying music that I have loved for almost 40 years. The woman in the white dress is THE Sherry Swafford. She and Steve had a long term relationship, they were very much in love but they never married. The touring with Journey put a huge strain on the relationship so they parted as lovers but they stayed connected to this day as friends. If you get the chance, listen to "Open Arms" by Steve with Journey. It is my very favorite. But I am a HUGE Steve Perry fan so I think everything he does is gold.
agree with you 💯 !! ... everything Steve does IS gold, right through today, 4/19/22 !! ... and "Open Arms" is one of my very favorites too ... those opening lines are killer !! ... I'm a 69 year old that has been listening 🎶 to the amazing gorgeous 🔥 Steve Perry since 1978, and I will be until I'm gone ... Steve 💜 will forever be the G.O.A.T. !!! 💜💜💜
OMG, does this bring back my 20's....cheesy MTv memories. LOL......sigh. Steve is now in his early 70's.......WOW! My generation of life is flashing before my eyes. To all you young'in's in your 20's...make the most of your life. It will go faster and faster every 5 years. Blink......and it's a decade later. I just lost my all time fave drummer(being a drummer myself) Neil Peart...and I haven't seen Rush pics for years and I can't believe how much he aged since the last pics I saw. Like mid 90's/early 2000's. Time and life fly's. Good luck to you all. This was sad and awesome at the same time for me. 😕
Thomas Finnell The video of the making of “We Are The World” is a fantastic look at so many of the very talented musicians of the 1980’s era of music. I suggest that everyone should check it out. It is a great trip down Memory Lane. 🔊🔊🔊
@@stephanieg6802 Yeah, I saw Journey with Arnel Pineda singing lead last year as well. They were great. Would have been better without the 7+ foot tall guy standing in front of me the entire time (despite everyone having seats to sit in) , so I could barely see anything at all, but Arnel has a powerful voice and a lot of talent. When I saw Steve Perry in concert, it was an outdoor concert without any seating and only porta-potties for bathrooms, it was the day after Thanksgiving in 1994 and pretty cold outside, but none of that mattered because the concert was incredible. His voice, his stage presence, the whole package was fantastic.
I went to a wedding reception in 1981 in Oildale, California just outside Bakersfield, California. Me and a buddy got to the reception early. Nobody was their except a guy sitting alone in the back. I ask my friend David, a doctor now, that guy looks like Steve Perry. David said BS. We walked up to him and asked, "are you Steve Perry", he said yes. We shook hands with him, chatted about a PBS special he did with BB King, he seemed interested about that. Anyway, very pleasant, he was #1 back then. Why was he their! Sherrie, was from Bakersfield, California, her best friend was getting married and he went to the wedding and reception. True story, 39 years ago !!
This was one of my favorite songs when it came out. I was 16. One of the magical things about music is that it can literally transport you back in time. This one triggers some wonderful memories of a highschool sweetheart and my first airline flight into Tampa from Detroit.
That's awesome I also have a strong feeling and beautiful memories wrapped around this particular song 19 years old going sledding in a really fluffy snow and then him sneaking me into his dorm room at his private all-male college😁
@@barbarachieppo8290 I did something just like you did. Skipping ahead a few years I infiltrated security by making entry and spending the evening with a girl friend in her dorm room at Eastern Michigan University.
I've always liked Journey and Steve Perry. This is my favorite song that he sings, not just because my name happens to be Sherri (not Sherrie). Definitely react to Foolish Heart, it's another really good song!
Oh Sherrie was indeed Steve's long time girlfriend at the time. She was the girl who walked into the hotel, not the the princess! Quick info, how the song got it's name. Steve said, he was with another song writer, writing song for his first solo album Street Talk. They were up into the wee hours of the night. Sherrie didn't want to stay up any longer. She told Steve that she was going to bed. Steve said, he watched her leave the room to where he said.... 'Oh Sherrie'! And thus, we have this sweet song! You should react to some of his other songs from Street Talk...... Foolish Heart, Strung Out (my all time FAVE!!!) and Capture By The Moment (a song he wrote about featuring artist that passed away!)
I love Steve Perry!!!❤️ you would love the song and video You Better Wait from his solo album For The Love Of Strange Medicine. It’s in the ‘90’s and it’s awesome!!!
giggles...It hasn't anything to do with a toxic relationship. Most people during that era were not so attached to even experience toxic relationships. Sherrie ist das girl in das video (his girlfriend). This song ist simply about him thinking his music career was a burden to her that she shouldn't have to suffer "You should have been gone" ..."I'm not who you thought I'd be". He gave her all music rights to this song because it was hers. :-) I haven't bothered to find out if this song was no.1 in das U.S., but it was no.1 in Europe for abit if I remember correctly...Which ist most often much harder to achieve than das American Pop music charts. Our Popular music ist from many countries, many languages. :-) Auf Wiedersehen
Don’t know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but Sam Cooke was a huge influence on Steve Perry, they even share the same birthday. Journey did a cover of Cooke’s Good Times also.
Jihavoh True. Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' has lyrics from Sam Cooke's Nothing Can Change This Love I Have For You. Play them consecutively and you'll hear what I've mentioned.
Jihavoh I forgot to to mention the song "Sweet and Simple" an early Journey gem featuring some seriously killer vocals! If you're a Neal Schon fan just for some smooth guitar check out his instrumental version of "A Song For You".
Sean Swinton I love Sweet and Simple and familiar with most of Schon’s solo and side projects. He’s my absolute fave. His son is damn good too, if you haven’t heard Miles Schon on Madison Cain’s version of Big White Room you should check it out!
Jihavoh I didn't know of any Miles Schon material. I got all Journey music including pre and post Perry discs, Schon solo and side projects and guest appearances on other artists discs. Thanks to you, I will be hunting some Miles Schon. Much appreciated!👏
As always, commenting first..... Steve Perry....the VOICE as he is called, is the stuff a lot of vocalist wish for. Also he brought out a new album after being away since 1996. I would advise all who like Steve or this video go check out Steve Perry Traces......you will not be disappointed.
Now this is what I'd call a real power ballad. What a voice and he sings with such emotion. Think I read awhile back Steve Perry said he'd never get married because what happened with his parents. And he never has. He has a daughter from a previous (long ago?) relationship.
I saw an interview with Sherrie and she said they still love each other and are great friends.. Journey used to call her Yoko as they felt she tore them apart. Neal Schon made an album on his own and when Steve released his, Schon said "Oh Sherrie" sounded too much like a Journey song. (Yeah right!!!) Steve Perry is the voice!!
