The story of Steve's love for Kellie Nash will bring you to tears ... It'll break your heart but then, it will repair it. She's why he sings again, today. Thank you, Kellie Nash♥️ RIP
Steve Perry, you’re a legend and God has gave you a great gift of voice. An unmistakable voice and I’m listening to his songs my heart just is melted. Guys if you’re really agree with me, give a like.👏👏😊❤❤
I love you Steve! I’ve lived in Hanford all my life and was a teenager in the 70’s when I discovered you and Journey....your beautiful songs were and still are an important part of my life story. I wish you all the best! God bless you! 💕
Hello , how're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
He's classy because he was given the foundation for class from his mom and knows how to use it as it is intended! Ya got to luv it and as a mom of 2 sons im dancing on the ceiling!
I love you Steve Perry. Your the best!!! Drugs messed you up. Wow!!!! I didn't know that!!! I hate drugs. Your the best singer of all time! Sorry about your loss. Your Strong and Amazing.
Very disappointed to know you did drugs. I know every band out there was doing drugs but had higher hopes for you because you were older & I mistakenly thought you knew better. You would have broken your mother's heart had she known. I smoked cigarettes (have quit 50 years ago) and everyone was smoking pot. I wouldn't touch it. I figured I didn't need to dumb down. But because "everyone else was doing it," just wasn't a good enough reason for me.
Damn I always liked Journey with Steve Perry, but at that time, we were traveling around with work and the girls we hooked up with were frickin nuts big time over Steve! The guy's would play Zeppelin and the girls always played Journey. I'm not sure why people want to dog up the interviewer. Somebody needs to ask the questions and try to get the small talk going. Great interview. Good seeing Steve back and good luck!
My Mom did not know me when she died because of dementia. She always loved Steve Perry. I took her to a Journey concert in the 80s. I played Journey for her on her death bed she didn't know me or anything but she got calm listening to Steve. She started tapping her finger and said Who is this guy he sings good. It calmed her. She did not know me but Steve's voice brought her back for a few seconds in her mind.
Wow, that had to be tough. 😟. your mom not knowing you when she passed. 😢. you'll always be blessed of the fact, 1; you took mom to a Journey Concert, and she passed with Steve Perry's calming voice. 2 of the times I've seen Journey, one with STEVE, one with Arnell, were both bought by my 2 daughter's. I'm So grateful to them for that. My best Concerts, were Journey💘 I have great precious memories. RIP to mom. May her memory always live on in your ❤. 🙏🌷
I would like to sincerely thank Kelly (RIP) for having the foresight to make Steve promise to come back to music and to all of us. And thank you, Steve for honoring your promise to her. We are all so very grateful to have you back and can’t wait to enjoy the rest of Traces, and beyond!
Hello Lisa, how're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
Yea, he definitely wasn't gonna do it had it not been for that. I remember reading his interviews for years where he'd be basically lying about coming out with a new album, or going back on tour, etc. He walked out on one interview where the journalist called him out on it LOL
So glad he is back...he has done things right...he lived his life like he wanted...I would just love to meet him and sit down and talk.....he is a great voice and a great man
Does he came back already? Oh my I am late with latest happening. Where did he performed. Next time please inform me if he is coming near us. I so missed his exotic voice lol.
@@joeaguirre3 ... Steve Perry released a new solo album called Traces on 10/5/18 ... it's amazing, the songs from it are on RU-vid & it can be purchased on his website (he's on social media now too: Twitter, Instagram, & Facebook) & he also released a couple of Christmas singles (2018 & 2019) ... he did a full media blitz in fall of 2018 with lots of interviews (they are on RU-vid too) & he has made a few charity appearances, but no live shows or tour so far ... & he says he has no interest in going back to Journey as their singer ...
Steve is one of the nicest, humble and talented people in music. He deserves every greatness in his life that comes along. You're one of the greatest Steve!
I just watched "Journey behind the music directors cut" it of ruined my image of him. He really seemed to be a control freak who had several band members fired with the it's him or me card. He seems like a real dick!!!
Man, I can't count the times Mr Steve Perry's voice was a soundtrack to my life as a teenager. Such a legend in music, best voice ever, and so gracious in his interviews Respect!!!
We love you Steve Perry. God bless you! It’s great to see you & hear your voice! Your voice was a powerful force in my childhood, teenage years & beyond.
Hello Pamela, how're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
I stop believen already coz he's great before but now it is irrelevant. And to be honest with you he's not great as you said. Not a pop singer like him will be a rocker lol.
@@williamzimmerman7678 Lol Journey is nothing more than a fog today....They were left in the smog when Steve left. You don't see much for them touring or new albums lol They tried to use Arnell as a quick fix to replace Steve....Arnell is a Steve Perry wanna be, just saying.
@@williamzimmerman7678 Steve Perry is a legend and he made Journey He’s just unique he can’t be “replaced” It’s personality, charisma what a singer can communicate when he’s on stage There’s so many factors The 2 artists can’t be compared Pineda is Journey’s new singer the band needed a vocalist to survive He’s got the skills to be a lead vocalist But there’s more to it than just a good voice Steve Perry marked an era No one will ever change that
Steve Perry isn’t just one of the greatest. In my humble opinion he is the greatest singer of all time. No one could do it like him. So blessed that he’s still with us and he’s found happiness and contentment with himself and his gift again.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bulXlrDnt9Y.html Steve Perry might have a competition. This guy is considered one of if not the best singers in Korea.
Thank you for yet another inside look with Steve. A gentleman, kind, warm, gracious, a diplomat whatever he speaks to and about we can count on hearing wisdom, knowledge, and insight into Life, Music, and having a Love for something that sends out a Story to which most of us find resonating. He's a beautiful soul and a heart that is open. Thank you again.
*Steve Perry, in my opinion, has the greatest, richest male voice,.....EVER.* *I'm more than happy that you have found your passion for music, again!! I'm certain that had to really scare you. I continue to listen to all those hits many years ago, & now blend in your new songs. Thank you for being an important part of my life. I wish you well in every aspect of your life.*
Kimberly, you are indeed correct. Everyone runs from a certain part of their past at some point. But then when we see that person, place or thing and whichever circumstance that we ran from, there we are again, as if we never left. Welcome to yesterday.
I was born in Hanford..From 1985-1990 I moved back to Hanford.Met Steve he was a awesome guy. We talked about Hanford. We talked about the Bay Area where I live now. Day on the greens in Oakland Coliseum. He was just a real down to earth type of guy. Just keep rocking Steve.
@@slikrik6098 & @sharikoe ... just so y'all know, the "Steve Perry" that posted "thank you" on here (up above) is NOT the real Steve ... Steve does NOT post answers or replies to fans on RU-vid ... he does have his own social media accts (facebook, instagram, twitter) & you can tell if they're legit by the blue check marks beside the acct name ... he also has his official website ... once in a while he might ask the fans an opinion or to answer a question & if he says he will reply, then he has done that ... but only on his own OFFICIAL sites ..... there are a LOT of fake Steve Perrys on social media that try to take advantage of trusting fans, so be careful ...
Steve Perry, is a very talented singer, songwriter and a great person in general. It is sad that he left Journey but it is his life and a person should be happy doing what they do. I still enjoy listening to his songs no matter how old he is etc just because he is great singer and they are great songs. When I was a junior and senior in high school I would have a lot of homework and would listen to music on the radio while doing my homework. I still listen to music alot old songs and new.
Steve you are a Legend, and we are both Portuguese, God's blessing to you and continued success, I'm 53 now and I listened to all of the Journey albums, I miss the music with you but I really appreciate the Fact that you were true to yourself and walked away, that shows that you Love yourself a person, and your voice is Eternal Brother, so glad you're back...much love and respect amigo...
It would seem that the passing of girlfriend Kellie Nash, has brought Steven back to that event we all face in life, "No matter where you go, there you are". You cannot run from your life and Mr. Perry's life is music. Sadly the touring, the spinning merry go round of being a rockstar, perhaps the pressure of being one the worlds greatest singers, the excess of drugs and losing touch with reality has cost him dearly. 20 or more years into self-exile to hide away from that which gave you life and love. Then love touches the soul deeper than ever before and is taken away, only to leave him with a laser sight focus of what and who he really is in the universe. Take to the stage kind sir, the curtain is lifted. Now Mr. Steven Perry, let your soul sing once more!
Have Adored Steve Perry since discovering Journey in the 80s when I was a teen. He knows love and how to love. Thank you Steve for the music xx 🇦🇺🇺🇸👋😇💖
Love this video of Steve Perry talking about what his career was like and how it is for him now. I've listened to his albums for hours and hit replay. He is a wonderful singer and I look forward to more music from him. You keep going as long as your voice allows you to, Steve. And this interview was a good one, thanks to 106.7 for having this interview and video. You're the best.

I was lucky enough to see Steve Perry after he had recorded the first album with journey but still performing with his first band called PIECES, in a small hotel bar in New Orleans while on vacation with my family. I was 13. Couple months later journey was being played on the radio. Steve Perry was the the nicest most down time earth person. My mom had some pictures of him in that bar, wearing his white tux and doing his little warm up dance next to the bar before going up on the stage. Incredible singer and performer!
true, he was greatly missed by the whole world 😥, & I'm sure losing his passion like that was very upsetting & troubling to him 😕🤔😕 ... but now it's so great, that with the help of his precious Kellie 💕, Steve found his passion to sing again & started sharing his amazing music with all of us faithful, loving fans !! ... I am so forever grateful Steve is back, & even at 71, the legend can still really sing !!! Steve is definitely still The Voice !!! 💜 💜💜💜💜💜💜🎶🎤🎶💜💜💜💜💜💜
I used to blast Steve Perry in my vehicle anywhere I went and I still do occasionally. People would say, you really like Journey and I would say No, I love Steve Perry.
Which consisted of 3 songs, A brief appearance at a funeral (or memorial) doesn’t count. They were all ready to play again in 1997 but Steve’s health got in the way, so yeah it’s over 30 years since Journey was with us. With Steve Perry.
Thanks for this interview, it's always a pleasure to hear from Steve. I am happy he put his health first. Way to go Steve. I will always love you. I will always wish you a happy life no matter where you are. Thanks for the memories. No one could ever take your place.
Wheee . He is not even singing with Journey now how can you say that. Man there many hardcore fans hallucinating whenever they see SP. Move on and go back to reality. He is not with Journey anymore. Journey is making so much money because of Arnel and that is facts.
I love Arnel, I think he’s a phenomenal singer and performer, but no one can match the tonal quality of Steve Perry. His voice has aged some, but I’m so glad to hear that he found his passion again, because after burning himself out to give us his best, he deserves to be happy again.

Loved this gentleman for years. Such an emotional powerful effective angelic singing voice . He is incredible and a decent good human being. Mr. Perry has been thru so much yet he still grace us with God's gift of uplifting songs. Thank you Mr. Perry and thank you for the upload. I loved: Who's crying now, Don't stop believing especially, Foolish heart number one for me, and the get down soulful: 'Lights', and so many gems so many genius hits. Great interview done with class and professionalism that is why 106.7 radio FM, is my number one station to get me thru the day thank you also.Thank you period.

Michael Caprio EXACTLY what I was thinking! I wanted to hear what Steve said! He was talking about the love of his life and he was SO RUDELY interrupted! Let him talk! His true fans (like me) care so deeply for him! We would much rather hear about things that are meaningful to Steve than to hear what the radio guy wants to know! Have loved Steve since 1980 and will continue to do so! ❤️
sanity inAcone Only morons would make a comment like you did! You obviously aren’t a true Steve Perry fan so you shouldn’t even be here! Move along ...
Steve had a Q&A with thousands of his fans, and he answered my Q of how he knew he could sing ( yrs before he was in this studio ) and he answered about his mother having to listen to him screaming lol He said Thank U and he LOVED that Q because it brought back loving memories of his Mom too. I could tell it was a really fond memory of his
You made my chidhood fun im 54 and the best times of my life included your voice and contribution to the world so thank you for having the courage to sing for us.and make days brighter. When i hear you i feel young and happy again.god truly gave you a gift to share with us and you sure did. You do you and thank you we can still listen to you
What a great interview. It's very touching to learn more of what he has endured to bring him where he is now. I can relate to the loneliness and isolation after the loss of my daughter but through that it allows you to reflect on your next step in life. It's brought promise and a new passion for the work I do and living for my daughter and granddaughter. Thank you Steve Perry for letting us in on your life!
Steve, you look incredible!! I know you've been through alot & this break from music was necessary. I am picking up that getting back full swing into music, for you, is not high on your radar & I completely understand if that's the way things go. As the saying goes : all good things must come to an end. You need to do what's right for you, regardless. You look decades younger than you actually are & you sound more relaxed than you have in years, so you are obviously on the right track with where you are at in life. Keep it up!! Sending lots of love & heartfelt best wishes in all your future endeavors. Xoxo from Canada. ❤🇨🇦
Hello Nina, how're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
That's the guys job. That's what an interviewer does. You only have a certain amount of time and you have to get your questions in or they don't get answered.
Saw Journey live in the '80s. Steve sounded just as good live as he did on recorded media. Great concert! Thank you for the many years of wonderful music.
One door closes and another opens. I am an old metal head from the 80's but I did see what Journey was doing in the day and they deserve everything they have accomplished. I actually liked the band but would never admit it to my metal friends! Journey was so huge back then and I can understand how Steve felt. On the road all the time, no family life ETC... Watch the faithfully video, you can see it in his eyes looking out the tour bus window, he'd had enough. Careful what you wish for, you just might get it. So many musicians wish they could have that kind of fame including me but I don't blame the man for just walking away from stardom! One door closes and another opens! Neil Schon, the guitar player for Journey tired of waiting around for Steve to come back got on youtube and saw this kid in a Journey cover band from the Philippines, called him and the kid didn't believe he was talking to Neil. Like hitting the lottery I'm sure he felt that! He, I my opinion is a great fit for the band and I am sure they agree!! Keeping the music alive. It's good to see that Steve got to get back to something normal, he deserves it not to mention that after he got his life to something normal, that he is back to singing. He is and will always be one of the greatest singers of all time, if you don't agree, you are not listening!!
Great to see you back in the public life Steve! Hope you found the healing you needed in your wanderings. As a person who lived a standard Monday through Friday 9 to 5 type of existence, I can only imagine the pressure that your life in Journey put on you in every way. It must have been incredibly draining for you, and I thank you for your personal sacrifice. You gave your art, your heart and your soul to your fans and your profession. The way you crafted the vocals of every one of your songs goes way beyond the God given gift of your voice. Your craft of tone, melody, timing and emotion could only be called miraculous. While others may imitate your songs, I notice that very few new songs have come from Journey that have reached the hearts of the fans like your work. You truly owned each of those works with your heart and soul, and there will never be anyone who can imprint themselves on a song the way you did during your entire youth. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with the world. It's a far better place to live because of you. I look forward to hearing your new stuff, as I have not yet heard it, and I know your voice is no longer that of a 20 yr old, but as long as you put the mark of your heart on it, that won't matter. That spark that comes from deep within you is what we all were listening to all those years, and it is still what makes those songs special no matter who sings them now. If your new work has that element, they have no way to miss the mark of greatness that you are known for. You hold a very special place in the heart and souls of a LOT of people. Just don't stop believin'
Freddie mercury for me had a best voice in terms of color and was more versatile, but steve would be the second for me, its my opinion, not a criticism
@@holasoyrami16 Maybe inside the studio. Freddie never hit his claimed vocal range during live gigs, not even once. He improvises by lowering the notes. I'd say Freddie is very overrated.
@@robinyumnam2646 yes, steve has a more consistent range, but for me, its impressive that freddie in studio go that high, since he was a baritone and steve a light tenor, and i like much more freddie's timbre, i think he was much more versatile, and thats why i prefer him, but perry is on the top obviously
@@holasoyrami16 But we all don't know how Queen recorded their songs or that Freddie really hit those notes. Of course, Freddie is a great singer but has a very limited vocal range that he can't even pull off those notes live, not even once.
@@robinyumnam2646 but that is because, as i said, freddie was a baritone and tends to sing all in chest voice, that is why his range was so limited in live performances. And steve had more technique and uses mixed voice, thats why he was so consistent. But its all about the taste, and for me i prefer Freddie and i think he had much more legendary songs, but its only my opinion and if u likes more perry, its well
Steve Perry is the all time greatest Rock and Roll singer of all time. Seriously, no one is better. Perfect pitch and an insane range! I love his voice and his humble nature. Love ya Steve!
🥀Amazing Interview with Steve Perry I'm sticking with what I've been saying for yrs No one can replace him! His unique vocals are a Blessing from a higher Being and I love this Man🥀☝️🥀
