You're saying it like he's some mother theresa. He and his tribe have been eating scabs of artists for decades. He - Steve profited of his dads network and dis what his fam does best. And that is pimp out artists. He'a not responsible for the art. Give credit to the artist. Not the label. Stop.being dumb.
Chill wit that rawkus shit bruh... ill take tommy boy over rawkus any dam day... rawkus??? Psss they were barely appetizer on the menu ... how about badboy or deathrow you fuckin dits... salute to loud records though its amazing the amount of classics that came out of that label
@rj doggman the hood never cared about charts. Either did hiphop! Ruthless was there but its not many stories like loud records man... they represented wutang and mobb deep... i mean they gave us wu tang and mobb deep... those two names alone should allow me to not have to go further down their roster of hiphop legacies that all started at loud records
Vlad tries to hard to see if Steve acts like other executives (Irv, Diddy, Suge, Dee and Waah, etc) to brag about all these lavish luxurious lifestyle and stories but Steve always been the same: “I listen to the music, I sign the artist, I let them be them, and I push the record…that’s it. “ That’s a real executive. Stay in the cut, stay focused on the buisness, stay focused on what you want to do and make money. Leave the lifestyle to the artists
Mr Steve rifkind is a legend & a boss and one of the coolest white guy ever & if I was on my way to be a star I would contact him to help me blow up & get his autograph too but he had my favorite rappers & groups of all time on his label & I always ❤️💯 the loud records logo as well but anyway much respect to the great Mr Steve the cool dude rifkind ✊🏾🙂
Vlad does no research when it comes to the R&B artists that he interviews. Steve wouldn’t be with NE if he’s in LA. Jam & Lewis worked out of Edina, MN at the time
Absolute living legend and one of the best label execs ever! Everyone (as far as I know) who he has worked with speaks highly of him too as good/honest dude. Wu Tang Big Pun Mobb Deep Pharoahe Monch (For Desire album) Twista (granted he didn’t blow there, but still he saw the talent) Alkaholiks Xzibit Dead Prez Beatnuts M.O.P. Krayzie Bone solo Layzie Bone solo 3-6 Mafia Pete Rock solo Cellas Dwellas Raekwon solo Rebel INS solo Prodigy Solo Project Pat solo Tash Solo Sadat X solo Gangsta Boo solo Akon That’s a crazy list to get from 92-04 basically.
VLAD WHY YOU CUT OUT THE ''THEY WAS TRYING TO CONTROL ME' PART @53:10 ..IT FELT LIKE HE WAS ABOUT TO 'GIVE US THE INSIDE SCOOP...DAMN BRUH!!!!! {trust me, i get why}
It's sad that Steve passed over Cella Dwellas (accidentally or otherwise). Their first album was released at the end of 1995 was pretty good...although I'm not sure if the sales matched the quality of the album.
Love these type of interviews about the building of record labels great stuff and props to Steve on all the hard work he put in and the ear to know what good music is, real genuine guy
Very interesting interview could only imagine being a fly on the wall when he would have discussion with mobb deep , 36 mafia , w u tang clan , xzibit etc some off my favorite artists growing up was an 80s baby so 96 97 were my favorite years of hip hop being 16 17 ears old cruising in my first ride a 94 Altima had 2 fosgate 10 w box in trunk and 250 watt fosgate amp and alpine CD player w remote ...shit sounded good but once I replace those shifty interior speakers inside 2 6.5 in front and 2 6 by 8 that were behind back seat up top just picked up some mid grade pioneer for interior ...after taking them out old speakers they were infinity cracked and jacked up lol 3 of the 4 were busted already ...man that shit knocked after that especially when I found a cheap 4 channel 200 watt pioneer amp to hook up interior speakers for that extra knock on highs then could turn up bass to match levels then you could hear me from a block away and it sounded clean finally had those highs to match the bass...definatly nice system for a kid making 200 a week at frys part time still in high school at time just working nights at frys and 8 hour shifts on weekend...those fools tried to have me work till 10 pm sometimes even 12 1230 am ...had to explain to them I was still in high school looked up law at time it was up to 9 pm at latest at that point ....smh big companies
