Brought together by the Florida Rising Stars Project, legendary coaches Steve Spurrier and Bobby Bowden talk for the first time in years about their incredible rivalry during the 90s.
Two absolute legends in college football period RIP COACH BOWDEN Both were men of faith and I believe it showed in there success they are sorely missed in today's game
As a diehard FSU fan, always hated gainesville but quietly loved Spurrier. Free shoes University was f'n hilarious. I miss the days where the top 3 Florida schools were on top. So much better when those games actually mean something nationally. Makes the rivalry that much better. I was spoiled during the 90's.
As a die hard Gators’ fan, I truly loved Bobby Bowden. His 90’s teams were ahead of their time. FSU vs FA were box office and must watch TV and seem like it always #1 vs #2 when they played during rivalry week
@@seandavis2520 will put this as nicely as possible. Urban seems like a real pos. That's just my opinion. Spurrier was the greatest coach the gators ever had. Can't spell citrus without UT. Lol
Me too. Even though Steve Spurrier's Florida teams were the greatest of Gator history....When we played against those teams gave the most fear as a Florida State fan since a boy at 90's. Spurrier brought speed & air raid to FL. I grew to admire him later as he became the great title "Ole ball coach" just like Bowden did...when he was at S. Carolina. Bowden & Spuirrer two of College Football greatest minds and leaders of men.
The great Bobby Bowden is my coach, he’s the greatest coach in the history of college football 🏈 in my humble opinion. Coach Bowden mentored and helped changed the lives of many young men R. I. P. Coach Bowden
Two of the greatest ever! Both were winners and changed the face of football and how the game was played. We miss the two of you and thank you for Saturday's very interesting.
Those games were intense. I left UF in 94 before the national championship year but the most intense game I have ever experienced was the '91 win 14-9. We never sat down the entire game and it was loud as hell. I have never felt that much energy at a football game. The whole Spurrier era was insane when traditional football had you running most of the time and if you scored 30+ that was a blowout. UF was scoring in the 40s consistently and chewing up yards like it was nothing. Good times.
Love it.. Spurrier use to love to push Bowden's buttons with comments he made, but it's good to see them talk. Both were great for the Game. Auburn played Florida every year and did well.. Auburn played Florida State in some epic games.
It's hard for me to think of 2 better coaches in the 90s. The difference to me is Mickey Andrews, who was with Bowden for a quarter-century. He hired him in 1984. Spurrier never found someone to stay nearly that long on D.
Every year of the 90's had a team from Florida play for the national title with the exclusion of '97. Caused by the Greatest Game Ever Played in the Swamp!
Spurrier was right, FSU came to NE, late 70's and beat us when we thought it'd be an easy win. after that, we paid attention to FSU. pretty sure our QB was Jeff Quinn.
Do they talk about the Choke at Doak? That was the best quarter of football I ever saw. 31-3 in fourth quarter. 31-31 at end. Then, followed up with a win at the Sugar Bowl. That was the 1994 season.
