OMG. Steve, I'm 51 yrs old and have been dinking around on the guitar for probably 30 years. And I still suck. But I just watched 3 of ur videos and feel like I know approximately TWICE as much as I learned on my own in the previous 30 years. You are so good. Thank you so much

You have an amazing gift to be able to convey your ideas to allow us to understand. Although certainly music theory is a science, your explanations have allowed me to see it as a comprehendible science.

I listen to quite a few different utube information providersand I find your information is very easy in a sense to use and put into practice not to hard to follow and it does'nt seem to overtax simple minded individuals like myself . For me music is just something I feel I need for compleetion and I thank anyone who helps me on my journey and you do so thank you .

Wow yet one more surprising things from your videos. Usually "the talking" on guitar tuts used to be long and sadly boring n confusing. But you just kept my adrenaline rushing and makes everything way more interesting and relatable. Can't wait to master this.

I watched this video and 4 more that seem to be in order with the same goal. A basic understanding of playing by ear. This is what I need more than anything and I need it now. I've played guitar (acoustic mostly) and sang off an on for years. But I can't play by ear. I JUST CAN'T FIND THE NOTE OR CHORD on the guitar. When singing I can hear the note I need to hit in my head before I sing it and then hit it. But I have a very hard time "hearing" the note or chord when trying to find it on the guitar. When I have the sheet music I can learn the song and hear that it's right. I can also hear when something is wrong. But I can't just find the music on the guitar. I need help. I can become a better guitarist from lessons, practicing, etc. But "hearing"??? I don't know where to start. I'm enjoying your videos. I have gotten into the mastering the fretboard videos. Great stuff. If only I could hear you play the scales then play them without fretboard charts or watching your fingers. lol

Great lessons steve. I have just picked up a guitar two years ago at the age of 42. Watching the lessons are helping me get on and not put it in the corner. I have one question I have started playing on a right handed guitar but I am totally left handed. Will it help if I switch to a lefty guitar after two years of playing a right handed guitar. Thanks Tim

Instead of I-IV-V, I like to think of them as 1 -5 +5. A IV chord is really down a fifth from the root. A fifth from the root are the chords that sound the "best" or closest to the root. A fifth above is a V chord and a fifth below is a IV chord. (Circle of fifths way of thinking)

Love your lessons. I have to say I get more out of each one than I do out of my former $75/hr guitar instructor. Noticed you're playing a LAG. I love my LAG. Why is nobody else giving them any love? I have to say, I don't miss my $3500 Taylor too much when I play my $350 LAG.

Great lesson as always! Steve, could you please tell more about suspended chords? All of these sus2, sus4. I really like what guys from Dream Theater are doing and I know - they are using a lot of suspended chords in their songs. Just want to know more about this type of chords and how to use them to create something interesting. Thanks once again!
