Hey Steve. Just gotta tell you that this is the best lesson on Night Moves out there. It's one of my all time favourite songs and like most of Bob Seger's songs a lot of it has to do with the strumming rhythm and patterns. I love playing along with you as you make it so easy. Still practising precise finger placement for the quick chord changes but having a ball! Bert T 73 yrs old from Montreal, Quebec

I could swear you're the only guy on youtube who actually listens to Seger. This is the first instructional video I've found that is accurate. Thank you. I didn't have a capo so I tuned my guitar a half step down. Played A, G then D. Now that I know there's a capo involved, I can understand things. Thanks a lot! Please keep making videos.

Good lesson. Students, understand the instructor's guitar is tuned 1/2 step below concert pitch. That's why a capo is in the first fret so that it will sound in tune while playing along with the actual song.
@tobiasdog100
@tobiasdog100 9 лет назад
BachRock Actually no, the song is written in C sharp; thus the capo @ the first fret. I tried to play to the recording in standard tuning but it didn't work until I used the capo. Of course you can still play the song in C natural without the capo but you wouldn't be able to play along with the studio recording. Depends on which key is best for your own vocal range.

How do you think about guitar strumming should match with drum fills rollings and basic form of drum beat ?
@stinemusiclessons
@stinemusiclessons 2 года назад
Thanks for watching, Gum! :-) Re strumming patterns, Steve usually uses a more "organic" approach. Which means, instead of teaching a set strumming pattern, Steve shows you how to find the rhythm of the song and play it in a way that feels natural to you. Follow this link: guitarzoom.com/products/strumming-made-easy-3 ...scroll down a little, then watch the video in the middle, "1 Critical Rhythm Skill." In that video, Steve will talk more about organic strumming. So you can play songs with less stress, and sound more authentic at the same time. :-) Just wanted to let you know, if you enjoy Steve’s RU-vid videos, you should definitely check out the new GuitarZoom Premium Membership → guitarzoom.com/join Members get unlimited streaming of more than 50 of Steve’s best guitar courses, like CAGED Made Simple, Music Theory Made Easy, Play Guitar For Life, Blues Guitar, Rock Licks, Acoustic Guitar, and many more.
