Steve Vai and Zakk Wylde together session at the Vai Academy 2017 Zakk had technical issues with his amps during the performance but anyway, it was a great moment during the academy
This was cranked up on bose and magnets fell off, pictures fell down , the toilet flushed..... In my 20s a 55 key fender was hooked up to janson speakers, a Sansui receiver the speakers went on fire, the Sansui fried, plant on speaker exploded 😏
Hell Yeah! Even with tech issues, Zak sheds with authority and Steve is sublime! Two of the best guitar gods to ever grace a stage... together! Freaking awesome.
I love this, both guitarists are legends and both are inspiring in their own unique ways. Vai is a phenomenon on his own but Zakk is playing his own style that is his own. shame we can't hear Zakk though
I love Zakk, he can shred his ass off. Vai's arsenal of different techniques and phrasing is even more incredible to witness though...he never plays the same thing twice.
I love both of these guitar Gods. How Steve makes his guitar so expressive, is something to behold. Zakk is a beast ! 2 of my fav guitarists ever. Watching guys this good play their guitar, is like watching a magician. It's pure magic, and unbelievable.
Great musicianship there, as soon as they realized the amp problems everybody lowered their sounds so you can still hear Zakk. An although it is clear that he's frustrated he plays a killer solo like nothing happened.
Hey... Zack may sort of be a one trick pony, but my god he is good at it. I have yet to see anyone else who can absolutely shred pentatonics like he does.
Man at that point is just a matter of taste. While zakk is more a “bluesy” player, Vai is definitely the best virtuoso, different style, different techniques and feel. Both in the Olympus of the guitarists IMHO
Nothing but respect to zak dude he must of non stop practiced guitar starting at 15.. i saw a video where he decided to be the pentatonic king cause all the players had there thing and boy did he really live up to that
people say slash is in the background messing with zakks Amp (if you don't get the reference look-up zakk and slash voodoo chile you barely hear slash)
@@alprobert Ha.. if someone does not get that reference.. then they do not deserve to watch Steve Vai at all. If you really want to test a VAI fan. Ask the about " Little Green Men " 🤔
Man, that was AWESOME! Feel like Steve Vai's guitar was a little louder then Zak Wylde's but was great seeing two absolutely amazing guitar players together!
Oy boy! What a awesome performance! Why did I never see 👀 this? Bad boy zakk is killing It! Making sweet boy v working hard to keep up😂 hats go off for a awesome jam 🎸
It's funny cause you can see Vai's space ship-like rack behind him , while I can imagine Zakk's meat and potatoes pedalboard on the floor. I like both systems, anyway.
Seteve vai toca muito sou grande admirador... O problema é que não houve microfone direcionado ao pa do Zack... O que é um excelente guitarrista... Dois monstros!!!
At 1:44 he is now known as Mr. Vai to you Zack! Holy crap what an intro to an incredible lead oh and the faces are epic........tons of feel! Sound guy didn't even bother to put a mic in front of Zack's cabs......with Vai on stage, why bother......lol
I'm sure they both can learn a think or two from each other we never stop learning new things playing guitar is endless if you play with your heart and soul .but yea zakk could have been louder or Steve could have came down but this is awesome
Tyrell Scott opinions opinions, vai was great here, but to some people the greats are the one who create and compose masterpieces regardless of how technical. why clapton , page , gilmour and many of other greats r greats lol , sure there are 8 year old who can play their sh!t and vais sh!t but until he creates his own masterpieces thats thousands and millons have learned before cause it was great with melody and hooks it dosent really matter. that is just my opinion tho. i find alots of little things i like even in the guitar players i dont care as much about.
we could hear zakk at the beginning until slash came back for revenge ;) actually no, whoever recorded this, their recorder has a compressor thats giving priority to vai because his amp is closer and a little louder.
You cannot see? You got great sound and a front row seat watching his fingers? Hell I use to have girlfriends just to lift the needle on albums over and over to learn a song. Go to concerts and fight our way to the front to watch hands. Don't get the "tab" thing. Use your ears and your eyes. Later your soul.
I can see a lot of bashing on the comment section, some bash Vai, some bash Zakk, others Slash... You professors do even play an instrument? Jus saying...
While I agree it shows he knows nothing about guitar players, I caught the Generation Axe tour at the Tower Theater, and Zakk honestly owned everyone there that night.
Vai, and Zakk came to Raleigh NC separate times 2018-ish? Vai was incredibly creative, unforgettable! Zakk was with G3 including Satriani, Eric Johnson, Dave Mustaine, et al > Zakk absolutely SPRINTED with OBSCENELY full-bore no slowing down for easily 15 if not 25 FULL minutes, walking up into and around the audience up to the other side to the stage again. it was like something out of a dream. sheeze.
plus this is not the foh mix, its nearly pure stage sound.. thats why you cant hear zakk or the singing. the mix signal is in line with the filmer, he should have steped 5 meters back...
Zakk does his thing and pays the bills with his thing but Vai is nearly limitless with dexterity speed and technique. Vai is amazing.,,, I dig them both.
Sure Via is one of the all time greats; however, there were pioneers that have done sooooo much for the industry before Vai. I would have liked to hear Zak sing and play, it seems to be a running theme in these shows that Vai gets the volume and I love to hear him play; but gosh, let us hear the other players to. There is a G3 show where Steve Morse is drowned out not as bad as Zak was in this one, but let us hear all of it. I'm not saying sabotage is happening sometimes people edit their recordings to favor things. It is exciting to hear how other players sound together, with this pairing I'll never know.
