Steve Wariner and Earl Thomas Conley, for me nobody comes close to these two. Steve has the unyielding consistency of beautiful music album after album, and Earl has an ability to authentically sing to a mans soul like no other. How i wish they had done a duet together, how i wish i could have seen them both live.
I met him once and he did a lunch concert for the Mississippi Baptist village employees. He is an amazing man, musician, singer and songwriter..... Such a great day for me....
Not only is the song first class - but so is the video. Clever and well crafted. The meaning behind it may be even more relevant today. Nothing like this quality today. Steve Wariner is a great singer and writer. I wish more people knew him as well as they do Taylor Swift and other far lesser talents.
Tony Ridlen mine too. I heard another one of his greatest hits on the radio just awhile ago. It was called: All Roads Lead To Ya. I haven’t heard that song in the past 37 years right up until now
@sshaw7091 , you have awesome taste in music!! Steve has always been one of my favorites as well. He deserved so much more recognition than what he received for sure. His voice is so incredible as is his guitar work!! So much better than the artists that were recognized! Doesn't make any sense!
Good ole music you can reminise too.. they just dont make love songs like this anymore. It just makes gems like this even more significant than ever. Lights a fire in all our beating hearts and we need this more than ever now.. ❤❤❤
One of the most "underated" country singers out there. It's true country. The man can sing, and play guitar. Loved him for years. Saw him back in the 80's when he was a nobody. Haven't seen him since. My Mistake.
Don't forget to mention he's a great songwriter as well. He wrote mostly all of his songs and one of my favorites Nothing but the taillights by Clint Black
This song.. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG EVER!!! my husband and I fell in love to Steve Wariner songs.. This one is "our song" we danced to it our wedding.. Oh how I love this man and his music!
Been a fan of Steve Wariners music for at least 30 years. His music hits me the same today as when I first heard it...timeless!! His music has enriched my life and I just want to say Thanks,Steve!!
You were my first favorite singer. Your voice is silky smooth. During the 80s I would get upset you never received more awards and recognition. Always a fan!!
Sure do miss this guy...one of the best guitar leads in country music and a voice that was far too under appreciated. Love this song, thanks for the post.
Steve has too many great songs, but this is my favorite and I've always loved the video too. He and Clint Black sing songs that always make me feel good, even the sad songs!
This is a great Country Song.. But they also hurt a little when you have the blues. From missing a girl that you care and love with all your heart.. This is kinda what I'm currently going through at this time.
You are right! I always thought that but it never fit in some how. It seems that he is living the song but he is constantly in the video. Weird but it makes sense.
He's needed for a recording session , while his lover is having to deal with a domestic situation where his personal help is especially needed right now. Not an often problem .
I recently read that he wrote that song during a real life experience. He was on the road and his wife was giving birth and he couldn't be there. That had to be agony for both of them. After reading that it all made sense to me. That man is at the top of my list. I could listen to him sing all day.
I should be with you by Steve wariner from 1988 Peaks at number 43 billboard adult contemporary chart it reminds me of Delta Airlines and Charlene Tilton
Not really. I don't care much for today's County- but you see when this song came out a lot of people back then were saying "Hey, this ain't Country!".This was called Modern or New Wave Country. Its all relative. Country goes through Eras and cycles of styles just like any other genre. I remember in the 90s when I was growing up everyone said Garth brooks wasn't really Country. I compare him to what is out today and he sounds as Country as can be. So its really perspective.
