Walsh rotated Montana and Young as starters the first couple years and that caused the team a lot of problems. Walsh did the same thing with Steve DeBerg and Montana back in the day. The 49ers QB coach Mike Holmgren finally told Walsh you need to pick one guy as the team leader. After that the 49ers won their last two Super Bowls. Walsh had to be told the same thing after rotating DeBerg and Montana for a couple seasons. They even traded DeBerg.
