What an awesome seminar!!! Greetings to you all. In modern terms I'm a Mexican American because I was born on our (US stewarded government land) land. The point is that I'm a Mexican, Mexica or Mexhica which to my knowledge is actually pronounced (Meshica), we in ethnic terms are referred to as Mestizos being that to some extent are carriers of Spanish blood; The Mexhica name was adopted by the Aztecs, only after they arrived into Central Mexico and founded Tenochtitlan. Our root language is Nahuatl, which extends as far as I know till now, in some form from Central America, from the Nahua Pipil from El Salvador to as far as Texas to the Apache, Comanche, and other tribes. According to our tribal grandfathers we descended from Aztlan in the north. My best educated guess is that it's far beyond the Rio Grand River; Cahokia Mounds, Poverty Point, etc. allure me to this conjecture. Well the question of the words indigenous and aboriginal arose. From my understanding, our Mexican history, our abuelos (grand fathers) referred to the whole continent as Cemi Anahuac; and the territories from Canada to Central America simply as Anahuac, so therefore, they to this day consider (We presently do not use aboriginal or indigenous) all original peoples as Anahuacas, regardless of specific tribes. On another issue, the lady who spoke out on the role of women in our common history is a very interesting point. At this current time in Mexico, a statue of Columbus has been brought down and in it's place the statue of a Toltec woman will be erected. Anahuac women during the eurocentric invasion bore a heavy brunt of atrocities throughout the entirety of Cem Anahuac; this is why in Mexico the decision of placing a female Anahuac statue is to honor them as our direct line to our mother earth; our lands. Also in Mexico, efforts are being made to bring back the Nahuatl language.

If the Catholic church truly followed Jesus, they wouldn't have dared to do all these things that are so terrible. The New Testament condemns all the behavior of that institution and other ones not Catholic that did similar acts. It's amazing that it ever happened at all.
Vhbeazel, unfortunately the Roman Empire has kept going on through history, in the Catholic church and the Vatican. No one knew for most of this time that if you ARE a Christian, you can't commit these acts like what the Europeans did, explorers did, the Puritans and Pilgrims did. It's forbidden, and one shouldn't even want to be that way to begin with. What happened to the Western Hemisphere is because of being caught between the battle ongoing, East vs West. The Romans always wanted to take over Asia, and the Silk Road especially. Even before the Catholic church began. Without this fact in play, Christopher Columbus never could have happened. One thing, especially in regards to the Catholic church : if they believe in the Bible at all why did they disobey Jesus and his commands for the disciples to only spread the Gospels, and only do that. No killing, stealing, taking over land or continents,etc ?? The New Testament forbids all this stuff that they actually did for these last 2,000 years. As for Christopher Columbus, his obsession with the books of Marco Polo and his travels on the Silk Road, is what triggered 1492. Christians aren't supposed to conquer anyone or anything. I'd always hated Christians,or what I thought of as Christians. Then I found out that this behavior originated with the Roman Empire. But they are using Christian labels. Starting with Emperor Constantine in the 3rd Century. It explains a LOT. And I'd never heard of the term, Doctrine of Discovery, until a few years ago. Hidden until the Internet, I'm guessing. So much that's been hidden in Western history. Especially regarding the U.S. Thanks to the Internet, these things can't be kept from the rest of the world. Not anymore !
Not just conquest, but evangelization which comes from Jesus to baptize people of all nations. So, again, you can set the doctrine of discovery aside, because that's just a preliminary step. Why not aim for the heart of the matter: the Christian churches and the popes. Happy hunting. Alternately, you can drop the dream and attend to ordinary life activities. :)

MM22272, if anyone breads the New Testament, the Gospels describe the apostles and their lives, and nowhere are followers of Jesus to go around killing, enslaving, taking over continents,etc. The Roman Catholic church was simply going on with the Roman Empire and it's policies for the last 2,000 years and beyond.
