They actually flooded homes of people who refused to leave. There are still some hollers you don't go in unless you're known, AND welcome, or at least in the early 80's when we left. Owned a store exactly 1 mile from Barkley lake bridge. It's a BEAUTIFUL area!

I live 15 minutes from lbl and I hunt and fish there every weekend depending on the season. There is something out there that will make your skin crawl. I can't explain it through words. Example. My son and I got picked for a quota hunt in 2016. We found an area that had plenty of deer Rubs n scrapes. We set up camp 3 days before the season opened. The night before the 1st hunt we went to sleep early so we could get up early. About 3 am I had to get up to pee. I hate when that happens lol. Anyway I got up and it was freezing out. I walked about 50 yrds away from camp to releave myself. It was pitch dark and very quiet. I heard something walking in front of me about 30ft I shined my light in that direction but never seen anything. When I started walking back to camp it started to fallow me. Then I was really creeped out. What the Hell would be following me way out here at 3 am ? I started to walk faster looking behind me with a light. I tripped on some rocks and fell down. My son heard me and yelled Dad are you ok ? I said yeah but I think somethings out here. My son came out of his tent and brought my 357 mag and he had a 30/06. We yelled who Ever you are we have guns and we will shoot you !!! I fired 1 shot and it started running and tearing limbs of trees. It sounded like it was running on 2 legs. I shined my light into trees and what I saw scared the hell out of us. What ever it was had to jump 30 ft off the ground to be where it was. I never seen a face but it's eyes were glowing red. We never went back to sleep that night and when the sun came up we packed up and got out of there. We didn't get to hunt that year. But been back countless times and nothing like that ever happened again. Take it as you will. ☺🇺🇸

My family was moved out of there by TVA back when they flooded it. I still live on the TN river side of it. Hunt there nearly every weekend during squirrel season

Love it man, that's near my neck of the woods! I'm in that area for work nearly every month and live ~3 hours east of it. Would love to hunt some squirrels with Kevin and you some day!

Land Between The Lakes is a true hidden gem in the midsouth! Tons of great camping, hiking, biking,boating,hunting, atv, and the gravel roads for miles! trails. There's something for everybody! I don't care what type of outdoor fun you're into!

I live 5 miles from lbl I've put thousands of miles on my vehicles driving them back roads and finding old homes and vehicles left from times before.

Love that you all have that large of an area to hunt in but I've heard stories of what they call dogmen or werewolves in that area guess that will keep out the 😃 weak hearted then lol.
