@@RockessentialTim that is exactly how I would describe it: Hard work, but I had a blast. Started washing dishes, did every job there is, then managed until I owned part of a jazz club. Retired now, but still love it.

@@eightbars1 Funny, I was reading an excerpt from Anthony Bordain's upcoming biography in Rolling Stone a few hours ago and it sounded pretty damn interesting. I love the drama of the restaurant/bar culture!

@@RockessentialTim I never ran my kitchen like some cats do. I saw a lot of wars between cooks and waitresses, and it just sucked. So, none of that in my kitchens. We always ended up with a staff that produced great and hard work with no dramas. Loads of fun, two company picnics every year, and that got me noticed. I was picked to run two different restaurants in the Seattle area because the staff was asked why the place ran as well as it did and they all said it was my running it that made it different. Sounds a bit full of myself, eh? But, all I wanted was harmony in the joint. And it worked out nicely. I never tried to get far in that industry. I was a union stagehand first. I only worked a couple weekends a month, so restaurants were actually a side gig. But it was something I enjoyed. Actually, I really love hard work. Must be a nut.

The story about Stevie Nicks working at Bob’s Big Boy and giving her two-weeks notice rather than quitting immediately after signing the record deal is awesome.

Every Friday night at that Burbank Bob's Big Boy there is an awesome classic car show in the parking lot.

Stevie wrote the song “Silver Springs” (originally meant for Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album) after being inspired by the name of the town Silver Spring, Maryland. She was driving through Maryland with Lindsey at some point in the early days and saw signs for the town.

Thanks. I think most people share your opinion about Tusk. Unfortunately, Village Studios where it was recorded is the only studio left in LA that Fleetwood Mac recorded at that is still intact so we had to go with that one. The Record Plant in Sausalito where they recorded Rumours is closed and Sound City where they did the White album is unrecognizable from what it was. The wholed story about the making of Rumours is pretty fascinating. Hmmmm....

@@RockessentialTim Too bad I was broke when the house went up for sale in 1992-93-what a gem that house is. Similar story with Jim's house in Laurel, New Years eve 1990 when the owners were renovating, I walked right in after midnight and laid down in the cast iron bath tub for a few minutes lol. My girlfriend was living across the street in a cottage that was Van Morrison's at some point. Hallowed ground for certain and you really have a niche!!

@@RockessentialTim no, actually was in my hometown of Rochester, New York! I left there 35 years ago and have been in South Florida ever since, but wish I were in LA. We did live in Southern California when I was a kid for a few years, hadn't been back there until 3 years ago and while I realize it has its problems, (what place doesn't??), I still absolutely love Los Angeles. There's a vibe there that is nowhere else for me. It's one of the reasons I love your videos so much.

El Carmen Restaurant on 3rd is still a cool place to catch a drink and food. The video was the first time I'd been there in ages.

@@RockessentialTim Indeed. I grew up on 6th and Cambridge in Burbank. (BHS grad '86) Have been in Las Vegas and now Spokane the last 20 years. Got back to SFV in 12/2019 and stopped by Bob's, Smoke House, and other old stomping grounds. :) Sent you an email about maybe doing an Oingo Boingo video.

My daughter graduated as a Bulldog 12 years ago... I won't rule it out but I'm not a huge Oingo fan.

It was my favorite part of the shoot and really kind of Village to let me have the run of the place. Most studios tell me to take a hike!
