I don't know if you have ever heard Clapton talk about SRV, he said its like a continuos flow of music, no stops, no indecission moments, it just all comes naturally from somewhere and he just plays it out, he never runs out of ideas. That was a great description.
This was one of the best shows I ever worked at the ERC,. Im super glad i didnt bust whoever had the video camera :) This show was on our East Stage so we probably were at about 9k people. I worked the After show and hung out with SRV until about 2AM. Great Night . Great Memories. I had the backstage pass for this one too
Stevie Ray Vaughan is at the height of his glory while playing that guitar that brought him so much fame and publicity out in the world..This guitar speaks volumes for Stevie..Stevie is sensational at jammin..blue's...rock n roll...singing..producing for a little while..A genius and a legend in mastering a tool called a GUITAR..The very BEST..RIP Stevie...
Stevie Ray Vaughan is the genius of music that took it to a whole new level and he did it in his time what short time he was with us..What a performance ..thank you
He stops playing at 29:49 "to take the time to thank God that we're all alive and well enough to be here together tonight. 'Cause it's an honor and a privilege to be here with you today." I was at this show and was myself lost-in-Austin. It took a few more years for me to realize how right he was. I thank God that I am here today "to be here to help those that need me the most". He mentions that he was living on borrowed time, but I never imagined this would be the last time I would see him perform live. Who knows, maybe I'll get to see him again one day.
Ha, I saw this concert live, it was with Jeff Beck. His first song of the night was, "if this house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'... Man, what a fun night!
There's Hendrix and Stevie Ray....after that they're are many EXCELLENT guitarists (blues/rock)....but....they're not in the same house....just my opinion
Stevie was beautiful soul, he had a heart the size of a planet. His gift was so very special. God really favoured him and we were all so lucky that for such a short time he was with us in this realm he reached and touched so many and to this day, continues to reach and inspire so many. God is incredible and He worked through Stevie, evidenced by the Holy Spirit coming through in Stevie’s singing and playing. God bless Stevie Ray Vaughan forever and a day.
This was the drug free version of Stevie. Man what a god! he just kept getting better. well SRV and Albert king are up there jammin, trading licks with peter green, gary more, and hendrix, i would pay a million dollars to watch that impro.
I saw Stevie in late 1985/early1986 and again in 1988 and it was like seeing a different musician. His playing was so drastically better once he got clean. Honestly after the 1986 concert I didn't think he was all that great. He looked half dead and played very flat.
I think that as a guitarist of 20 years of age to me even though i never got to meet him despite him being dead i play his music everyday when i get back from work pick up the guitar and play along with him when i wake up im constantly looking at him play on my iphone's youtube seeing if there's anyways i can improve i'll even play till 11:00 pm night ! never get bored of it. It's in my blood i think when the world lost srv it was like a shining star that lost it's light and twinkle now but his soul still lives on and no one one on this planet can say that it doesn't R.I.P my hero always will be.
Every time I watch SRV, and that's about every day, I am reminded of what kind of talent he possessed, and that what some call 'talent' today, deserves a different, more lenient definition. All you have to do now is to have been in the MickeyMouse club, or Nickelodeon, or begin with 'acting' and go from there. Children, fellow ADULTS, this....this is talent. ty
BB King praised him . He said it was like lightning flowed through SRV's body and through his fingers into the guitar that he was playing . He was truly irreplaceable !
Stevie Ray Vaughan can change a strat about as fast as snapping his fingers..What a singing and guitar legend..blue's and rock Stevie mastered sensationally..besides song writing and producing..a genius at the music world..Phenomonal is how Stevie entertained his fans and respectful..RIP Stevie..
I too had the pleasure of meeting him and being a HUGE Hendrix fan since about '73 when I first remember hearing Jimi's music, I was totally blown away. I mean, as a guitar player, I was thinking to myself, history was made here tonight and now I am talking to the guy that has IT. It was like no big thing to Stevie, he just loved playing. No attitude, no pompousness, just pure Stevie. Hard to believe another year has almost past. We still miss you Stevie, day by day, night after night...
+Weezer VanTrout He was to beautiful to leave us, But I'm happy he left us the way he did, Although If he were still here, He'd be Even more Insane a solo artist. RIP SRV, We miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stevie Ray Vaughan a gifted young man and a guitar legend that only lived out half his time on earth to bring the fans blue's and rock n roll the best he knew how and did..you rock Stevie and your never forgotten..time goes on and your in it..

oh man Vaughanaddict, that was beautiful man! this was the 1st time catching this upload here, and ur comment was the first thing i saw, i'm 49, and saw him, R.I.P. SRV, @Lake Compounce in Bristol Conn. August 89' he was all cleaned up and tore the place up and this was how he was repaid on that awful night. but ur comment and i'm not embarrassed to tell you it just brought tears to my eyes. you couldn't have said it any better brother, and that is exactly when i stop paying my respects also t/y
Stevie Ray Vaughan had gifted hands that were meant to play that strat and the best sound came out of the strat..What performance and entertainment Stevie gave to us all in his time..RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan
Stevie Ray is a testament to the realization of possibilities when the dedication and passion of life are focused and directed to the creative channnel. We miss you very much Stevie- look forward to meeting you at the next level- play on bro'!
Stevie is and will always be that beautiful person in our Hearts. That He and Jesus are together now. Hopefully one day we will all get to visit with them also...Gs.
He just seems to play every song just a little differently. Kudos to Tommy, Chris and Reese for being able to keep up with each “version” which I don’t think Stevie even knows where the song will “go” on any given night, and this applies to all his music! Plain genius!
16 years ago to this VERY DAY...THAT IS, AND NO INTENTION OF STOPPING.The only way i stop paying my respects is when im dead and gone....Fly On My Friend:))))
He's speaking about how he almost died from a severe drug habit. He also makes the points that when you have a drug problem, you can't hear the people that love you and want to help you. Also, you aren't there to help and love the people in your life. It's a very personal anti drug message.
He or rene (his guitar tech/roadie) would do what's called a "roll" in the guitar world. It's pretty much where you roll your hand across all the knobs on the amp(s) to full. It really gets the amp(s) cooking.
Heliport in Alpine Valley, Wrong. I was meant to be at that concert, my brother still has Otis Reddings' ticket....no way these things should have been allowed to happen makes one paranoid...

*Sigh, were did music head. I wish there was more like this, but even then, its mediocre. All the greats are either retiring, or dead. And the future generations are left with GaGa, JayZ, Beyonce,{insert random talentless artist}. Anyone else notice that they call themselves "Artists"? Because they cant call themselves "Musicians", you have to play an instrument for that title. We really need a renewed effort on the Arts in schools, and during formative years.
