I got to see him play many times, and actually knew about his brother Jimmie before I heard of him. Stevie would sort of go into a trance and tap into something, and then seem to hold on for the ride. I’ve never experienced anything like it.
Now if you want to see him break a tooth and finish the most amazing song ever, watch Life Without You live from the Capitol Theater. He breaks a tooth, grins at his crew and mouths “I lost my tooth”. “It’s gone” and grins. He is amazing!!!
Stevie Ray died in a helicopter crash shortly after playing an outdoor concert which included Eric Clapton, among others. Stevie wanted to get back home quickly, Eric gave him his seat on the helicopter. Eric also list his manager in the crash. Horrible night.
@@sandrasmith7501 horrible night. I’ll never forget that whole weekend. I heard “Hard To Be”, the first single from the new album he made with his brother, ‘Family Style’, Friday afternoon for the first time in Austin, then heard the news report Sunday morning. “...There were no survivors. Our condolences to the Vaughan family...” Who? Jimmie? Stevie? Both? Stevie... Horrible. Went to the wake that night in Austin.
This was another famous Stevie song it was Stevie Wonders song and Vaughan got permission to record it and Winder even made an appearance in the video for this song.
Any time Stevie does a song that someone else did he always puts his own spin on it and yes he makes it his own and if you didn’t know someone else recorded it you would swear up and down that it was a SRV original.
I am a srv fan from the 80’s. There is all kinds of footage of him just jamming out with all of the blues greats like Albert King, Buddy Guy, Clapton, and his brother Jimmy. if you are a guitar nut those are as much fun watching those guys just pass the stage around. If you want to see a man that is also amazing try Joe Bonamassa, Mountain Time live at the Royal Albert Hall. Stevie didn’t realize when he named his guitar No.1 that it would end up as true and iconic as it is
In the video Stevie Wonder does a cameo in the SRV cover of Superstition. That makes this all good to me. To have Stevie Wonder’s endorsement…that says everything.
SRV took songs from other artists and readily made them his own, often times improving them. As far as passion, energy, and skill goes, he was tops. Watching him was like watching a rare great in pro sports do his thing. He was the MJ of guitar.
I wished I'd stumbled over this when it was uploaded. Great song...every version. The original, this one, and at least one other that you really should hunt down and listen to. The band was Beck, Bogert, & Appice, and they are actually the band that Stevie Wonder wrote the song for. His agent or manager heard it and insisted that he record it himself, so he did, and it was great, but the live Beck, Bogert & Appice version will also knock your socks off.
I remember seeing him perform this shortly before his unfortunate death and I. Was. Blown. Away! For some reason his cover of this song is virtually impossible to find on CD. Why is that??
broke my heart as well, He use to stop in at "Stages" ( lil blues club in Louisville ) he was there just a couple of nights before the helicopter crash.. Was always a gentleman, and loved to just jam and have fun
Stevie Ray played guitar on David Bowie's album "Let's Dance". The title track is fire. "Cat People" has some badass guitar work. "China Girl" is a masterpiece. "Richochet is cool AF. "Criminal World" is interesting, etc...
Please react to SRV "Life Without You" from the Capitol Theatre. the song gives me chills eveytime i listen to it. Plus Stevie during the song takes time to say a few words that are still relevant today. couple things happen in the performance and Stevie doesn't miss a beat.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is definitely one of the greatest musicians ever. Great reaction. When you have some time I hope you’ll give Joe Bonamassa, The Ballad of John Henry, a listen. Joe is one of the greatest guitarists ever, and in this song there is also a Hammond Organ solo which is outstanding. I know you love keyboards so give it a listen. Oh, and also Joe plays a Theremin, which I’ve never seen in any other video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AquUzLfKqio.html
SRV was one of, if not the greatest. It's very difficult to say any one person is the GOAT but if SRV is not in your top 2 or 3 you need to have your ears checked. If you are enjoying SRV & The Blues, give this a listen if you haven't already.....Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa - I'd Rather Go Blind - Live in Amsterdam. Enjoy!
Jeff beck played lead guitar on Stevie wonders superstition he’s no slouch either, you mentioned SRV has best guitarist ever he was very good I seen him 3 time the year he died, maybe top 5 check out Steve vai. His live tender surrender is phenomenal !
Wish the guitar was significantly more prominent in the sound mix here but there’s no way of knowing that beforehand. Still you get a feel for the way Stevie performed this song. I love the way he did it though you can’t really beat Stevie Wonder‘s original of this song, in my opinion. Still, I’m glad Stevie Ray did it. Wow, I just noticed now that they are both named Stevie!
@@WILBURNREACTIONS but I would have considered Double Trouble with SRV just like either Winters brother. Especially when you categorized it as “artist” in your heading. I actually did not watch your top 10 as soon as you said you left him out. I just saw the Winters in a comment. So not really sure they made it either. But as far as SRV and Double Trouble, I think they are at the top of ANY list. Whoo. I’m glad I got that out. Now my head won’t explode 😂.
Gotta react to some Steve Vai.. Building the church live.. The one with like 1.3m views.. Bad Horsie.. For the love of God with orchestra.. Whispering a prayer.. Tender Surrender.. To name a few. Can't watch just one... That is if you like guitar... 🎸🎸🎸😎
Definitely a big influence on a lot of people ( me included). Another fellow Texan you should check out is *Ian Moore* ( when everyone else was trying to sound like *Stevie Ray* he wasn't he has his own sound). The song I suggest if you a chance to check out out *Ian Moore* is *Satisfied* I left a link to his album cut ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v-WJ5Pg1wUs.html Happiness Y'all!!
Mastodons cover of Stairway to Heaven is the only cover of that song I have ever liked and I dare say I love it even more. You should check it out. Mastodon's Manager's favorite band was Led Zeppelin and Mastodon recorded it for his memorial. The drummer sings the song and it is breathtaking. I'd love if you gave it a listen. Especially after watching this.
To me, the way any artist does a song (other than deliberately copying, as in lounge cover bands) is unique to that artist and there is no point in classifying in terms of quality. Each has its own qualities. I enjoy finding amateur covers on RU-vid and have found some real gems, notably James Dupre.
Jimmy page isn’t the best guitarist either there are many great guitar players SRV and jimmy page are but two and they don’t play in the same lanes altogether SRV is predominantly a blues guitarist jimmy page plays a variation of that with a rock edge SRV is more in a Clapton lane many genres in guitar!
