I love watching peoples reaction who have never heard Stevie, I am so glad that people are still discovering his music, he was an amazing guitarist and he left us in 1990 but seeing videos like this make me smile every time. Stevie will live forever.
Think I've seen this video 200 times and it still blows my fucking mind. I second the comments suggesting Life Without You (Capitol Theatre version) or Little Wing (from this same concert), both of those are possibly a couple notches above this one. Dude plays every performance different, and he almost never fucks up. Solid reaction bro, keep it up.
I'm a 61 year old man from Sydney Australia and I saw Stevie live in 1986 I've loved him since and I love to see younger people appreciating Stevie Ray.
I told you that you would be picking your jaw up off the floor! Next, do "Life Without You" from the Capitol Theatre, "Look at Little Sister" from Austin, TX, and/or "Sound Check". In the first, he plays behind his back again - plus a few extra surprises. In the second, he breaks a string and switches guitars mid song without missing a beat, and in the third (which is just a pre-concert warmup and sound check, he rolls out of bed, picks up his guitar, and proceeds to set the stage on fire.
I love your passion you have for doing reactions! There are so many sides to Stevie!!! You should check out " Tin Pan Alley" with Johnnie Copeland.... Awesome blues
Awesome reaction ❣ Funny story.. when my youngest son was around 5, we were in line at a big box store & woman in front of us was just causing unnecessary fuckery 🙄 & holding up line. He says outloud " momma, why you making your stevie ray stank face?" 😂 Busted by a 5 yo. 😛🤣
Saw him twice got to shake his hand in red rock's Colorado! For a lil short guy he had hands as big as mine were at 6'6" tall, he was like 5'8" or something. He even said you got big strong hands, have you thought of playing guitar 🎸, he knew I didn't play guitar because calluses were in the wrong places, and I told him I played alto sax, he said groovy man! I walked on air all night long...great memories...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
Stevie could play the sax and blues guitar but it’s never mentioned. God sent us an angel to bless us with perfection for a few years but his time was up. RIP SRV🎸
I love your reaction to him and Double Trouble! When you get a chance watch the documentary on him and his brother Jimmy he plays to. You won't be disappointed! He is a Legend here in Dallas Texas where he lived. RIP Stevie Ray! God just lent him to us for a little while and then said that's enuff! So missed!💖💕🔥🔥🔥🎸
Made it to the end, real MVP. GREAT, reaction. I’m so happy you got introduced to SRV. In most people’s opinion, one of the GOAT’s but in my opinion the real GOAT. He is absolutely enamoring to watch. One thing you might have missed is he had to take the strap off his guitar while he spun, and put it back on. After that, since it was behind his back and only on his front shoulder is why he can go front to back so quickly. I’ve asked myself a million times, how many times he had to practice that to make it that clean. Maybe thousands. He is absolutely amazing, and I agree with others I recommendations. He did some covers from Jimi Hendrix maybe even better than Jimi (sounds heretical, but true); like Little Wing and Voodoo Child. I’m a huge fan of Tin Pan Alley, Pride & Joy (a classic), and Mary Had A Little Lamb. Keep reacting to these, I love it, and am hitting the subscribe button now!
LOVED THIS REACTION! Thank you fir posting another SRV. 🙌🏼❤️ What did I think? A TOP GOAT of blues guitarists! You’re right too! No one plays a guitar with more heart and soul than SRV. 💎💎💎 What to play next? I vote LIFE WITHOUT YOU, live at Capital Theater! 🔥🔥🔥 Why? - In that one, he overcame having to switch guitars at the beginning, had to adjust his foot pedal, had to adjust the sound speakers, broke s tooth, played his guitar in every direction, and did it all throughout WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT! He even laughs at himself while playing. Oh - and you get to hear him speak for just a moment as he delivers everyone a message! - So you get a glimpse of who / how he was. 👀 His singing is SO GOOD in this one and the playing - it’s different. Perhaps because he wrote and dedicated that song in memory of his old pal Charlie, that used to repair his guitars B4 Charlie’s passing of a sudden heart attack. So humble, cool and down to earth. Always loved and never forgotten. We love you SRV!✌🏼💜
Darling SRV fans never care how many times you back it up!🥰🥰 Sound check in his fur coat will make you a happy man Better than most concerts people pay to see today.
Little Wing, Lenny, Life Without You, Tin Pan Alley, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Ain't Gon' Give Up On Love...a sound check someone recorded...playing with Buddy Guy at his Legends Club... his performance at The Presidential Inaugural Ball...
You just made me one happy girl with your amazing reaction to SRV!!! Definitely you will love Life Without You live from The Capitol Theater. He never plays the same song the same way. And I think the Capitol Theater performance of this song is the best.
I saw an interview with brother Jimmie years ago where he was asked if it was true that Stevie never played a song the same way twice. Jimmie said “Hell, he never plays it the same way once!”
SRV has a live video where he breaks a string in the middle of a song and his band and crew are so in tune with him they swap guitars without missing a beat! It almost looks like they planned it.
A short time before Stevie Ray spins you see him make an adjustment at the top of the guitar. Count 37 beats from that adjustment, and that's when he detaches the strap at the bottom and goes into the spin. Every time I'm watching a reactor watch for the first time this video of SRV's "Texas Flood" performance at the El Mocambo, I can't help but count... anticipating the reactor's response.
Listen to "Lenny" . Live at El Mocambo. Song for his wife. Its literally the sexiest song you're gonna hear. Thank me later. Also "Little Wing" also at El Mocambo is goated aswell. These 2 are easily his best performances. If you wanna hear something more rhythm oriented, listen to "Couldn't stand the weather" at the Capitol Theatre. "Life without you" live at nashville is also great and there he talks about his acohol and drug adicion and how he overcame those midsong. If you wanna hear some good old slow blues collabing with a legend, check out "Tin pan Alley" with Jhonny Copeland. So yeah, SRV is literally the goat of guitar no questions asked.
Stevie is the baddest ever, hands down. That performance is unbelievable, definitely one of his best. Your reaction to when he went behind his back...that right there got you another subscriber. Great job!
Another outstanding reaction! On your Voodoo Chille reaction, I welcomed you to the world which includes SRV in it, let me give you another small mind bending tidbit (with SRV, this won't be the last!). If you pick up on the fact that Stevie's guitar has a deeper/fuller sound than any other guitar, there IS a reason. Stevie play's with .12 and .13 gage wire guitar strings (most all other guitarists use .06-.08). He is not unique in utilizing these heavier gage strings, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame early in his career also played with the heavier gage strings, but through the years has gone lighter. Not only does the string sound different, they are much more resistant to be "bent", thus making Steve's job that much more difficult, and require stronger, more clasased finger tips in order to impose his will upon them! Keep digging! We'll keep watching!
Thank you Kurt! Had no idea about the heavier gage strings...insane!!! Feel free to point me in the right direction for more amazing music from SRV haha I appreciate you man!
All you ever here is Hendrix, Hendrix, he was the innovator, the first, who cares! SRV is a different level, THE TRUE G O A T! If in doubt, watch this again! Check out'' Mary had a little Lamb!''
What you have experienced is one of the greatest guitar players ever. Stevie Ray Vaughn started playing guitar at the age of 7. Born in Dallas Texas. He was influenced by Ben E.King, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Buddy Guy to name a few legends but a legend in his own right his biggest influence Mr. Jimmy Vaughn (big brother). The world was shocked by his untimely death in 90. His guitar playing was described as "A man on fire". I had the unique pleasure of seeing him in Austin Texas at this little 24 hour bar. It was small enough to be up close and personal. I shall cherish that moment always. Stevie Ray Vaughn you are always missed but NEVER forgotten.
Check out Joe Bonamassa…. And if you want extra icing on the cake, check him out with Beth Hart. You won’t be disappointed The way I enjoy Bonamassa and Hart is alone, headphones cranked, dark room with a fire burning, glass of Pendleton whiskey, cigar at hand and my German Shepherd on the floor next to me…….same this with SRV…..just saying
Best guitar performance EVER to grace video !!! Did YT slap that logo over the screen? Of course they did. What a souless thing to do. Great reaction, brah - Peace -
I'm so upset... I was all ready to watch this, I knew your reaction would be spectacular... but there is a red nasty looking smiley face blocking the whole thing.!! Did anyone else have this issue?!😡😠
GOAT. That is all. I firmly believe that, had Stevie chosen metal, he'd have been the best metal guitarist. Had he chosen jazz, ditto. But SRV had an endless reservoir of blues in his soul and couldn't help but let it out.
Saw Stevie Ray live one time and all I can say is that cat was different. God decided to make a guitar player so he made Stevie Ray Vaughan! RIP to the GOAT
I always said it looked like someone was cutting his leg off with a rusty hacksaw blade by the was his expressions were, as for the sweat ....that's what's known as the cocaine sweats but hell we all have our vices. Love your reaction to when he spins the guitar around to his back.
Besides the natural talent. One of the reasons SRV had that distinctive sound was that he played with heavier strings than most people. They are much harder to bend and manipulate. If you look close enough you can see that the fingers on his left hand are much larger than his right. From bending those heavy strings all the time I'm sure.
SRV comes from the Jimi Hendrix line of guitar players. SRV covers some of Jimi's songs, e.g. Voodoo CHild and Little Wing SRV copied/borrowed Jimi's showmanship, e.g. playing behind back, with fret hand only and with teeth SRV copied Jimi's foot pedal style. I hear SRV is using Jimi's foot pedal on loan from Jimi's dad. SRV had other influences, but he took what he learned from Jimi, some 15 years after the death of Hendrix, to the next level and became the greatest rock/blues guitarist who ever lived.
Tunes like “Voodoo Child” and “Little Wing” will always be from the original genius of Hendrix. However, only another guitar master like SRV could make a meaningful version of those songs his.
If you really wanna see 👀 what Stevie can do with his guitar check out Stevie Ray Vaughan live at Jazz Festival 3rd stone from the sun. WARNIN' MIND BLOWER ALERT ⚠️ ❤
"Life Without You" live at Capitol Theater "Sound Check" is CRAZY, lol Also, check out the original "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder, then the cover by SRV. Stevie Wonder makes a cameo. (Official video).
You really, really should take a lot closer look at Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Freddie King, B.B. King, Albert King, Johnny Copeland, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Eric Clapton(Specifically from the album From The Cradle). Hendrix was a major influence on SRVs style. Hendrix played behind his back and neck, and with his teeth..all things SRV kept going. Love your reaction vid, but you'll be absolutely blown away with reviewing Hendrix a little closer. May SRV rest in peace.
I loooove it how people, are absolutely trippin and gobsmacked even BEFORE he even puts it behind his back, and THEN people lose their damn mind....never gets old, lol...great reaction
@Disfunktional TeeVee Please check out the video with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Paul Butterfield, and B. B. King, if you haven't already. I think you might like it as well. It's great!
Now to absolutely blow your world watch Stevie Ray and his big brother Jimmy Vaughn play a double neck guitar TOGETHER it’s called Pipeline. Here you will see how Stevie learned from Jimmy
Can't watch that blocked out screen. Ruins the whole thing. Been a fan since 1983 & have seen him do it all live. Surely there's no need to do that So many others don't need to. You didn't do it on Voodoo Child.
