He was. Listen to I Owe It To Myself by the gap band. Then listen to the bridge in As by Stevie Wonder. Charlie did his best Stevie impression. Stevie was also on a couple of Gap Band songs, and Charlie sang backup for Stevie, I think it was I Ain’t Gonna Stand For It.
STEVIE WONDER was definitely his mentor In 1986 big fun I thought it was Stevie the hiccups laughs the growls definitely Stevie wonder 🕶️ influence yes Charlie and older Brother Ronnie was on I ain't gonna stand for it in 1980 from hotter than July and then Stevie appeared on GAP BAND V JAMMIN 1983 with Someday backgrounds and harmonica Stevie was the reason Charlie Wilson wanted to be on records even on Humpin 1980 Charlie was jive Talkin with a Stevie wonder voice he had a lot of Stevie wonderism in his GAP BAND days
I was born in 92 my first love for music was a stevie wonder album and nobody could tell me shit ! And imma tell ya why ! Did yall hear how this man just mumbled those words that he forgot and still KILLED it !!??!!??!? My godddddddeeddd !
When you only heard bits and pieces of the homie record on the radio and before you get around to telling the homie you ain't heard the full words of the record he ask you to do it on BET lol 😆 and fumbles and all he crushes it on runs alone. Stevie is a genius.
@DeVante Cooley He does the same thing to his own songs! Understandable, he has so many, including dozens (hundreds?) he’s written for others, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has one of the greatest vaults of unreleased music that probably only rivals people like Prince, Paul Simon, etc. He’s a prolific musician and writer.
Stevie appears unable to say "Put the peddle to the metal", lol. And he still killed it anyways! Fun fact; if you want to hear Uncle Charlie doing a good Stevie Wonder impression, check out The Gap Band song "I Owe It To Myself". Stevie was a huge influence on Charlie.
Black is beautiful, Daft Punk pays homage to Giorgio Moroder, and the immeasurable Stevie Wonder with this tribute, humility, good souls, I love this song
Didn't matter, he still had the funk and soul, the essence of the song! Had the chorus as well. On top of that, it's Stevie for goodness sake...more than enough.
😉Well, she’s the same woman who rescued him off the streets during his drug fuelled period. She basically saved his life through rehab and he ended up marrying her. And just because she can’t dance, don’t mean she can’t whoo!!🤣🤣
I know stevie is blind but not deaf....WTF was he singing???? He butcherd and mumble rapped thru that whole thing. Don't play like you all didn't notice LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
