"Golden Lady"
Stevie Wonder -- lead vocal, piano, drums, Moog bass, T.O.N.T.O. synthesizer
Clarence Bell -- Hammond organ
Ralph Hammer -- acoustic guitar
Larry "Nastyee" Latimer -- congas
Looking in your eyes
Kind of heaven eyes
Closing both my eyes
Waiting for surprise
To see the heaven in your eyes is not so far
'Cause I'm not afraid to try and go it
To know the love and the beauty never known before
I'll leave it up to you to show it
And golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there
Golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there
Take me right away
Looking at your hands
Hands can understand
Waiting for the chance
Just to hold your hand
A touch of rain and sunshine made the flower grow
Into a lovely smile that's blooming
And it's so clear to me that you're a dream come true
There's no way that I'll be losing
And golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there
Golden lady, golden lady
I'd like to go there
Take me right away
A touch of rain and sunshine made the flower grow
Into a lovely smile that's blooming
And it's so clear to me that you're my dream come true
There is no way that I'll be losing
And golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there
Golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there
And golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there
Golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there
And golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there
Golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there ...

So many of Stevie's songs are intertwined in my years growing up and alot just intensified the joys of love and relationships with his incredible joy, love and passion in his songs with incomparably appropriate words that cut straight to the heart...and even in those times of heartache and breakup his music got me through-so profound...over 4 decades of listening to one of the greatest musicians of all time-with songs and lyrics with true healing power. Take a real dive into Stevie's music and see if you don't agree. God Bless the Wonder Man.

This broad period from Stevie W.'s work is magic--"Ribbon In The Sky"; "If It's Magic"; "All In Love Is Fair"; "Higher Ground"; "Too High"; "Boogie On Reggae Woman"; "Visions"; "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing"; "As"; "Knocks Me Off My Feet"; "Summer Soft"; "Living For The City"; "Do I Do: "You've Got It Bad"; "Lookin; For Another Pure Love"; "Sir Duke"; "Isn't She Lovely"; "Another Star" "Creepin" and on and on....

No matter what, this song has been my very essence. I honestly feel it is the most beautiful and incredible little jem ever written. Best song of all time. The dynamic of the song itself is wonderful, as it unfolds like a Sunday morning or a blossoming flower. You almost feel the soft sunlight bathe you in your surroundings, peaking in between the trees, casting remarkable shadows, smelling the countryside air..taking you on a journey of gentle introspection and self-discovery. You suddenly shed all your inner demons and conflicts, life is amazing. :)

The first album of his series of spiritual albums, all of which started after he almost died in 1972, after making "Where I'm Coming From." Maybe He came back from somewhere and was reborn and then...THIS album, followed by two others. Each of which won the Grammy for Album of The Year. 3 years in a row. It all started here. I remember this from 1973; it was magical.

Hmm … I think your time frame might be a little off. Music Of My Mind followed Where I’m Coming From. Then came Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness’ First Finale and Songs In The Key Of Life. The last three were each awarded album of the year status at the Grammys, but it was three out of four years, not three in a row. And he almost died in 1973 shortly after Innervisions was released, not before. Unless I’m forgetting something.

I love the vision that Stevie has in the emotional life he put out...it's so central and caring...it's a scary life in these times...to hook up with someone to day... because because people don't trust anymore and don't play fare

One of the great Stevie Wonder tunes. Musically he was using fuller chords with 7ths and 9ths and using a sequential movement near the end moving by half steps. Done so well that even for musicians the emotional sensibility trumped the theoretical.

You're right +Benjamin. Also, what REALLY blows me away are the chord progressions in his classic "Don't You Worry About a Thing"...I still can't get over those chord resolutions and the way he is able to cruise right through all those key changes. Masterful.
