Sure this counts as secular music, but he is literally singing about his daughter and how grateful he is to have her. It’s so wholesome and such a wonderfully sweet song about the love a father has for his newborn daughter and the love of the Lord for creating her.

I was a NYC makeup artist and I did someone’s makeup for the Grammys one year in the 1990’s. She was the girlfriend of Andre Harrell. She took me to THE afterparty at the Rainbow Room. I walked in and it was star studded. She treated me like Cinderella....she insisted I sit at the VIP table with her and a bunch of LEGENDS!!! When Stevie Wonder came over and I was introduced to him I just about dropped dead! The guy is a LEGEND and he was so sweet and charming and unpretentious! I shook his hand and said a few dumb, nervous white girl things, and he was THE BEST. (I met a lot of really famous people over the decades, a LOT, and Stevie Wonder was one of the most charming)

@@carolinediaco825 Yes! When I saw that Andre Harrell had died, I did a long Facebook post about how he and his now ex-wife Wendy were so extraordinarily kind to me. John F. Kennedy Jr. was also at that party and more handsome in person than any photo I’d ever seen. The whole evening was enchanting and music industry people are MUCH less snobby than Hollywood people in my experience. I will remember Andre and Wendy for the rest of my life for giving me that Cinderella night!!!

Written after the birth of his daughter "made from love." And so many rappers blatantly stole from him and didn't credit him, he finally aued at least one of them. Stevie never disappoints and he can play almost every instrument.

No, he is completely blind due to ROP (read below). The vid you're talking about he catches a mic, which has sound..think about it. Paul Mccartney was walking up beside him, he brushed the mic, it began to fall. All these things make noise, which is a sense that Stevie has over developed due to his blindness. Of course he can react and catch it, he has been living with reaction to sound his entire life. Stevie, who was born premature, wasn't actually born blind, but became so at six weeks old due to the incubator he was placed in after birth containing too much oxygen and causing the condition Retinopathy of Prematurity. ROP is when the growth of the eyes is aborted and causes the retinas to detach, resulting in blindness.

@Flying Up Stevie is totally blind ever since he was in an incubator which had too much oxygen in it caused his retinas to detach. I'm a BIG fan of his and have seen him MANY times in concert! Trust me he's totally blind! Although even on stage it may seem like he can see, little known secret to us fans of his, is that he has an ear piece in one or both his ears where someone tells him which way to go. Like if he has to go to another keyboard or if he accidentally turns and faces his band instead of the audience, he will turn around pretty quickly, etc.

He played all the instruments (not uncommon for him), except for “some” keyboards. He improvised the harmonica, which was the first instrument he performed with at 12, when he was with Motown Records. The other “artist” is baby Aisha at the beginning and end of the 6-minute version. This album is one to spend time with, for sure.

This was on the radio all of the time when I was a kid, and I didn't realize until today that he's singing about his daughter. I guess I never listened so closely to the lyrics. Stevie Wonder is a national treasure and musical genius, too.

Stevie is Life. He has a song for every occasion, every emotion, for everyone. I wish you guys would do "Lately," because then you can do Jodeci's version of "Lately." Stevie songs get re-made all the time because his songs are well-written and being able to handle Stevie's vocals shows you've got talent.

Stevie Wonder is a musical 🎼 prodigy he's accomplished in piano, harmonica, drums, bongo and clavinet. Please give a listen Stevie's 'Ribbon in the Sky', 'Overjoyed' and 'Knocks Me Off My Feet'. As always, ❤️ to the twins! “Songs in the Key of Life,” one of Stevie’s greatest albums, came out when I was a senior in high school. I will never forget because I really wanted that record for Christmas. My dear mother, who was terrified of driving in the city, drove all over Seattle looking for that record, because it was sold out everywhere. She finally found it and to this day, I consider that the most thoughtful gift I have ever received. It is STILL a a brilliant album that has held up to this day!

There is always so much going on musically, in Stevie's songs. I can't think of another artist that blends so many instruments, but in a way where you can hear them all, and they are all distinct. It's like nobody is ever stepping on anyone, even for one note.

I saw Stevie Wonder live in concert in Dallas, Texas when I was about 25 years old. HE WAS FABULOUS! I owned so many of his albums. I can't name a favorite because they are all excellent.
