The Steyr AUG is one of most successful bullpup rifles on the market. In this video we'll look at what makes it a great rifle, as well as what makes it not so great. The AUG is not for everyone but it's definitely an iconic rifle that I will never be selling.

Repost. Had to change the beginning to clear up a musical issue.

If you want to use NATO mags and shoot left-handed you can use an MSAR E4 stock.

If you want a OEM style mags you have the following choices... Factory Steyr Magpul AC unity MSAR One thing that is really great about the Magpul version is that you can use any of the Magpul floor plate accessories or extensions. One thing that's great about the MSAR mags is that they have 20 rounders and 10 rounders.

@@nickamalfitano3613 bolt release is very nice though. also I've heard you have a slightly better trigger because the nato only has a single transfer bar due to the mag release.

The Steyr suppressor plug and a Griffin 30 SD-K run just great.

I'm a left handed shooter and I tried my buddies Steyr Aug and didn't like it. I went with the Springfield Hellion because how fast and easy it was to swap from right to left side shooting. Ran the Hellion in a carbine course and for cqb it was great. Manual of arms is a training curve. After 1500 rounds through it it never failed me. Oh and it's surprising accurate.

I'd love to get my hands on a hellion. The aug can change over to left hand, but I think the bolt is a couple hundred bucks. Hows the hellion trigger?

I'm a lefty shooter as well. I got a Case Deflector for my AUG which fixes the issue of getting brass in your face.

Great video. I like your setup a lot man. Quick question what front and rear iron sight are you running? And is that an extended top rail you have? Looks a little longer than my A3 m1.
@triplefshooting
@triplefshooting 9 месяцев назад
Thanks! I believe the rifle has the Troy fixed front and folding rear sights. I have messed around with it a bit since the video. The rail was is the extended length that they were using for the a3 at the time. I'm not sure if it's much longer than the a3 m1, but I know I can't switch it out like you can on an m1.

Do you find the nato stock any slower to use? I can't imagine it's a huge difference, but anything worth noting?
@theodoreheintz7891
@theodoreheintz7891 Год назад
@@triplefshooting no. In order to use the bolt release on the waffle mag A3 stock you have to take your face away from the stock. The extra time that you use grabbing the charging handle and releasing it versus the extra time you use reposition your head and eye is the same.

@@theodoreheintz7891 Not true at all. You can easily do a reload on the standard without ever breaking your sight picture or moving your head and it is noticeably faster than the nato.

@@2stroke438100% - that bolt release feature being absent on the NATO version is a deal breaker. Imagine having to charge your AR every time it locked back….no thanks. This is intended to be a combat rifle and extra seconds to reload can cost you dearly. Plus I’ve heard nothing but good things re: the AUG PMAGS
