Stihl 088 trip down to Humboldt (headed south to see Scott Mathis)

I think the 088"s were the best of the bunch. Unlimited coil, still has the pre-epa carb and that cast aluminum sounds great! Sweet saw Jeff! "Picked it up at a garage sale" ..........only out West.

Beautiful drive 😍 I like the bars with a grease hole for the nose sprocket, using a GB 42 with 3/8 gauge on a stock 881. Get about 25-30mins out of a full tank (1.3 Litres)

And now it's basically new inside, should be really good for a long time 😁 The drive down was Awesome, Beautiful country !! I found a really low time 880 a year ago an bought it... love the saw but I put a 60" Stihl bar on it and it sucks 🫤 I'm gonna go with something like a 48" or ? The 60" bends terribly if you try to do a face cut. If you're just cutting a log it's ok. Thanks for the ride along... Epic 😉😁

Miss my 880 sold it and got a 592, which has been nothing but trouble.

Sounds like it revs good for a 88 they are low rpm saws made for pulling big bars

I hope you filled up before you left. That 3.85 diesel is a couple dollars less a gallon than we have it down in Fortuna.

Come on Jeff it only weights 22.2 lbs power head only now bar n chain add another 5 to 6 lbs 121.6 cc 7.42 ci 8.6 hp stock only stihl saw that's bigger is 090 137cc 8.36 ci 8.5 hp on G model reduce gearbox 106 cc standard 090 8.5 to 11.5 hp depending what stihl literature you read 137cc 30.6 lb power head
