I knew the 500i were fuel injected but I did not realise it had OBD plug in capability as shown here and the self tuning is next level . I'm impressed with the saw and doubly impressed with Rip Saw and what they're doing , hats off guys , I wish you all success .
I purchased a full wrap 500i from Ripsaw solely on the recommendation of BBR! Not because of anything else but his message to humanity but #2 his experience and honesty with powersaws. Seeing Eric and the crew working personally on every saw they sell just gets me more excited to get mine when it gets delivered. I just feel really good about this purchase from this company. I believe in BBRS message and Ripsaws dedication.
It's genuine believer endorsement, BBR wouldn't have it any other way. I wish I was local and could buy the same saw with that pipe. I got a 500i with the Egan straight shot and their later air kit, and it is a ear drum popper if no muffs, great saw. I wondered about you Buckin when I saw you run yours in the video without over ear muffs, you must have had in ear plugs ?
@BuckinBillyRaySmith I'm glad I get to see you cut trees and buck firewood. Watching you has inspired me to try to do the things I love to do. But others won't let me do what I wanna do. I bought a 372xp and 394xp and I put long bars on both. And I don't even get to use them. Dreams are getting to be garbage billy ray. Just dreams. You look at all the things you can do. Then you realize you can't do any of them because you have no money to do it or support from others
The next saw I buy will be from ripsaw. My 500I is on its 3rd wood season and I love it. unfortunately, it's not from ripsaw but is a great saw. I found ripsaw because of BBR. BBR keep it up Brother I absolutely love your message. Everyone is fighting a battle that we have no idea about whatever it may be, so I agree with you be kind to everyone you meet. Let's make the world just a little better. You're a good man.
Hi been following you for a long time. I bought a g660 holzfforma its 92 cc using on Alaskan chain saw mill. 2 years now no problems. Iam sure this will get alot negative comments oh well. Using 32 in bar. Only 400 bucks what can i say but love it.
I found my guy. He's 45 minutes away from me, he's a stihl guy and I drive passed 2 stihl dealers and 2 Husky dealers on the way but he's THE guy. We talked a lot and I ended up with a mean 462. If you're a faller and you want the best of the best, get the 500i. Im not a full time faller, so i settled with the 462 and its an animal, stock. more than I need maybe. What I would do to have guys like Ripsaw down here in Tassie to turn it into a fire breather.
It's great rip saw is so busy. But the wait 16 to 20 weeks is so long. That's almost a 1/2 a year. I hope they figure out something so they can make the process be faster. I just can't see waiting that long for a saw . So now I do have saws from them. But that was when they were a lot smaller. And I got the saw within 2 weeks. But I'm happy they're doing good. They have beautiful, amazing saws that's the truth.
I guess they need to make sure businesses keep going at the current busy pace. Last thing you'd want to do is hire a new person to speed things up and suddenly orders dry out a bit. You've got to take a bit of a plunge when expanding a business but you need to make sure the pool is deep enough before jumping in.
Hey buckin I’ve been running saws every day for 22 years and I run both husky and stilh and johnsereds and I love them all none are better than the other it’s just whatever I want to run that day there all awesome
@@Whateva67 now jonsereds are owned by H. Many common parts and designs. In my mind they're one. But I could be wrong. Devil's always in the details. Everyone I've seen says the best for jonsered. Not one complaint.
I really appreciate that a true old school saw man can embrace new technology. It took me a while to get used to my Husky with an electronic carb, but now it's my go to!
I do this to every 500i that comes through my shop. It is essential to recalibrate if you make any major changes to it. Learned that the hard way. ie. brand new top end toasted on first start up. Had to eat that one for the customer. 😮
Ive got my new 500i in line with Ripsaw to get ported. I’m SO glad to hear your little note of encouragement at the end that it’s worth the wait. Of course I don’t want to wait 6 months to use my new saw, but I’m gonna have a heck of a power saw when I get it back. I’m super excited!
100% agree about finding the right dealer. I didn't choose my saw. I went to 5 different saw shops in the area I lived in (within an hour or so drive) and talked to them. Picked brains for more information than I can repeat. I ended up with the 461 with no mtronic or any of those extra special electronics. It wasn't the saw nor the dealer, but the mechanic that I chose to work with. The husqvarna dealer in the same town was only contented about selling me a saw. I knew nothing about dolmar but the only shop in the area that carried them were a bit pushy and very brand specific even though they carried stihl. They just kept pushing for domar. And the other two shops just didn't have much of a selection and were more of just a repair shop with a handful of saws. I wish I could find a place here like the one I ended up dealing with there.
@joeysweet9045 Being in a logging area, conversing with many of the Sierra Pacific higher-ups and Red Emerson himself. I looked at what they were using. Never saw nor heard of anyone running dolmar there. Mostly stihls, but I was definitely a husqvarna man at that time. I run both, though, and would never say either one was or is a bad choice. I do prefer my stihls, but I feel husqvarna makes a beefier (for lack of a better word) saw. Stihl has power to weight but feels more delicate, and husqvarna runs excellent in the heavy duty brush. How I feel about them anyway.
Wow 😮 that’s really interesting to know that you can check the computer on the saw to make it work how it should work. here in Ireland 🇮🇪 they only have the capability to check the nuts and bolts of the machine other than sending the machine back to sthil for a full physical test and diagnostic test
Buckin' Billy Ray, you are a awesome guy, and I love to watch you work, but I hope to never (ever) have a saw that gets plugged in to a computer. This is where Im drawing the line...
They aren’t getting tuned, you cannot change set parameters like dwell time in the injector or coil, target AFR, hold times or offsets. Basically the computer is for diagnostic purposes and to put it in reset mode. They are cool regardless but if they could be tuned more power could be had. Even if you could do something as simple as raise peak rev limiter.
Iam a retired arborist & I’ve always only cut with STIHL. I have a MONSTER 881,661 & a 500i all have bark boxes & Max-Flo air Filters. GREAT saws😊👍👍☝️BE SAFE & BE KIND EVERYONE ❣️✌️✌️✌️
The 661 is a total dog until you port it. That saw and the 880/881 absolutely transform, picking up over a full horsepower. I absolutely love my 661, but I will say that the 395XP husky has it beat for stumping. The 661 is a lot lighter but you’ll never make the torque that the 395 Husky can generate.
I have a 461 that I love, id love to get a 462 in my mittens. See ya saturday buckin, cant wait. No freakin way. I was praying youd bring a wood bullet. This is the only chance ill get yoy put my mitts on one and im excited. Please tell me I can thrash that beauty around a little. I have never really split with a splitting axe, I use a maul mostly but man do I ever wanna try out a wood bullet. Make me a believer in the splitting axes buckin!
I just received mine seems to be a really good build. But I have noticed there is some people that have really strong opinions about this company most are positive some just seem to be really upset by the thought of the ripsaw company as a hole . I don’t really get it. I’m really enjoying my new saw!
People that bought rip saw 500i’s are sending them to other builders to find out why they are so slow compared to bone stock saws. So that’s really cool considering what these cost from these guys.
Not true. The saw Egan posted wasn’t from rip saw. Only a fool would believe one saw porter talking poorly about another. Says more about Egan as a person than it does rip saw. Mitchell’s backyard logging compared a ripsaw 500 to Aaron lynches and they were the exact same.
I know you didn't ask me but no it's supposed to auto-tune and calibrate it's self I think the only time you reset is when you service it like a air filter, spark plug or fuel filter change I'm pretty sure.
How much for the damaged saw. I don't mind it being that way. I have an 046 that was ran over when a truck wrecked into dad's house. I will be at Bunyan on Saturday
