Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work on it. It's a good system considering how many moving parts there are compared to a true two stroke. With a little simple maintenance (the dealer doesn't tell you it needs) they do really well.
Always been interested in the 4-mix engines. Seems like a terrific yet terrible idea. But after years of thinking about it, I just got a new fs 131 r this weekend! Definitely different. Think I'm gonna like it🤞🏻 Tuning is something im not quite sure about yet. I've got the low jet set to slightly "stumble" and the high set for what feels like best power buried in weeds lol low and high jets were definitely too lean out of the box.
How does the scheaffers 7000 tcw-3 perform in the 4-mix engine.? I currently run saber at 40:1 in a stihl fs130. I run scheaffer oils in my truck as well as the mower and the local rep can get the 7000 “boat oil” for me as well…. Just curious as I can’t find anyone who has run that oil in a 4-mix..love your channel by the way…
Yes. I just did mine. Get the engine top dead center (there's an arrow on the flywheel that lines up with the bottom bolt of the ignition module) and buy the kit from your local dealer for ~6 bucks.
In a previous video, you mentioned the degreaser you purchase at a local business. Since it's safe to use in aluminum, do you know if the big box stores carry an equivalent degreaser? Thanks.
I used to have my grandpas FS90R and if I adjusted the valves with the feeler gauge you have the thing would start hard and have real soggy bottom end and poor throttle response. If I set the valves at double the spec it always started first pull and revved right to the limiter and had all kinds of low end torque and response. I tried a couple of different carbs and coils also didn't make a difference when the valves were set to spec. Ever experienced anything like that with these before? I wound up selling it because of that.
A plastic camshaft ? Good grief, Homelite quality in an overpriced Stihl product. The only good Stihl string trimmer I have ever had is a real old one that was actually a Kioritz built model. It has lasted forever.
Believe it or not, the FS76 was manufactured by the Japanese firm Zenoah (Redmax in the US) and rebadged by Stihl. You can Google it and find out a little more interesting information about this. I owned an FS76 also, it was the best trimmer I've ever owned. I now run Echo trimmers/brush cutters and perform a muffler mod by taking out the catalytic converter which chokes the exhaust.
@@w6qd The FS83 was also a Redmax engine... Around 2008 was the downfall when Shindaiwa got ruined by Echo & Redmax got ruined by Husqvarna. Shindaiwa doesn't promote "First to start last to quit". Maruyama is the best & last of 100% Made In Japan.
