We have 8 saws sized from a 192t climbing saw up to a ms440 on my farm we cut 2 shipping containers of wood to heat the machine shops, house, barn for the winter. Never have major problems with most of them, have a husky 55 rancher that is always giving us problems
I have an 066, could not ask for a better or more dependable saw. I bought it because a 361 stays in shop so much. Something all the time. Tried to get company to take back under lemon law. However, the 66 makes up for it,, PS: Stijl warranty is not worth a DAMN!

@@TheWoodsmanMilling I have been a Husky brand man forever because they start so much easier. I have owned Stihl products but had trouble starting them. I have a total of 7 chainsaws including 2- Husky 372 XPs. But this Stihl MS661C is BAD ASS with a 32 inch bar it cuts thru red oak like butter. Keep in mind its new and factory sharp but the last red oak I cut was 34 inches at the trunk. I love it.
@@davidhoover8862 awesome man! I've got a 391 right now with a 25 inch bar, but now stihl says they can't run anything bigger than a 20. The 661 should be capable of running a 36, but again, stihl has lowered the max bar length. I think they're trying to get people to move up a saw size if they want to run bigger bars. Edit: I'm thinking about getting an 880 for milling, but I've heard that the 661 is good for that as well. Some of my family had 2 huge red oaks fall during a storm, both of which are about 4 feet at the trunk and go to about 5 feet at the first fork. We're going to use the limbs for firewood, but the trunks would be great for milling.

I recently bought a Stihl MS 661 CM Magnum by accident (complicated story so I'll spare everyone the details) and I'm pretty pissed off because I wanted the MS 661 R instead! My reasoning is that I don't like the idea of having electronics in a chainsaw. My question is for those that have the CM, What is your experience with your saw and has the electronics caused you any problems. I'm thinking of getting rid of it or possibly giving it a chance.

@@Stihl Thank you Stihl for contacting me in response to my post here. Since my post I decided to give the MS 661 CM a chance. I am new to Chainsaws but I have a background in Electromechanical Engineering (just to be transparent) so I am a quick learner when it comes to machinery. I have done a lot of cutting since my post both in hot weather and cold weather. So far I am impressed and the MS 661 CM has won me over. I have had no issues and it starts right up. This saw is very powerful, reliable and cuts wood with ease. So I stand corrected.

Hello Fergus Hogan, Thank you for your comment. The MS 661 C-M is equipped with a new HD2 air filter made of PET material and a radial seal which prevents fine dust from entering the chain saw. Since we don’t have any known issues regarding our filters, we recommend you to read in the manual about filter cleaning or to contact your nearest STIHL dealer in case you have any concerns about its performance. Best regards, your STIHL team
@@STIHLde contacted stihl main dealer and two separate reports were sent to stihl central over two months ago and I still have heard Notting back. I have 7 more stihl professional chainsaws and I have no issues with fines getting passed the air filter on them. I am very disappointed after spending over €1200. Tree work is how I earn a living and maintenance of my saws is top priority. If I don't get an answer in the next few weeks I will have to go to consumers rights. Thirty years a stihl customer. Thanks fergus.
@@AH-hi7jg spot on buddy , it's the last stihl I will ever purchase. It probably took five minutes to design the air filter system and thats such a shame because other than that it's a great saw. Notting wrong with the 660 air cleaning system so why change.stupid stupid stupid. Tried to buy a 395xp on Friday but here in ireland we can only get Brazilian 395xp and it's the same price as the Swedish one and I don't know enough about the Brazilian ones. Thanks for your comment.
I have a MS661. The M-Tronic saws is crap, has been to the local dealer 3-4 times, now it is to the Stihl importer here in Norway. The saw has not been through 2 tanks of fuel yet! If it does not start at the first pull, it will not start at all. Gasoline is coming out the exhaust, stone dead machine due to flooding. The local dealer changed the complete carb, worked well for about one tank of gas, now it is dead again. Stay away from this crap, that is my advice.
