had mine new 2016 edition now, for a month or so,, brilliant bit of kit,, nothing to complain about so far,,, (so far).. around 10 tanks of fuel,,, all good

I've had my version 2.0 now for a month and a half as well. Starts great, easy on gas (35-40 tanks through it) and no problems either. One of my favorite saws by far.

Hello Stihl, I'd like to try one of these saws as I have had very good luck with your products in the past but my current luck hasn't been the best. My Km 94 has been on the bench time and time again after a year of use in tree service. I would like to grow my business with your products but at the moment I am torn and using some the competition's equipment. So, with the new design MS261C-M, will the replacement parts transfer over to the previous model, or will it become obsolete? I just purchased 2 of the previous model last year and hope that they will remain serviceable for a long time.

Hello Js sutton, Thank you for your comment. We can ease your mind: STIHL stocks original spare parts for at least 10 years after a chainsaw or power tool has been discontinued. So the model maintenance of the MS 261 C-M chainsaw won’t have negative consequences for the spare parts supply of your chainsaw. hallo Stihl, ich habe mir die neue 261 cm VW vor 4 Wochen gekauft. Wirklich eine tolle Säge aber die Griffheizung lässt zu wünschen übrig funktioniert nur bei Vollgas. Im Standgas kühlt sie sehr schnell ab. viele grüße

My Stihl 261 broke down after only 3 years of cutting firewood (crankshaft) Stihl said it was my fault because I didnt use the Stihl oil and alcylat gasoline! 026 was a much more robust saw and I had one for allmost 20 years and used shell oil and 95 gas mixed 2%. New Stihl saws are so fine tuned and optimised that they are not to last as long as the old Stihl saws.Now my saw is in parts in my garage. Not happy with the Stihl 261 and Stihl support.

I agree with you, we shouldnt have to jump through hoops to keep the warranty. Imagine if car manufacturers told owners their warranty was voided because they didnt use Toyota Fuel and oil and you had to go to the dealership for fillups.
