Stihl Ms250 vs Stihl Ms291 Chainsaw Review & Comparison! 

I've owned nothing but Stihl for years. My first was an O21 then the MS250. I now have the MS290 and love it.

love my 291. starts every time and just gets the job done.

MS291, Cannon 18" bar with full chisel chain, cuts like a hot knife in butter. With easy pull recoil and toolless chain adjuster I should be able to run this saw well into my later years.

Bought the 250 a year and a half ago. Though there's a lot I like about it, I wish I had got something with more ass. It'll make for a good "little" saw to work alongside a 70cc saw, but as a do it all, I'm wishing I had looked into the Echo cs590 Timberwolf. 60cc for $400 with a 20" bar or for a few dollars more, the 24". I've been staring at a big stump that needs taken down and after noodling some big rounds with the 250, I know it just isn't enough. I guess my advice is, if you're thinking of running 2 saws (big & small) the 250 is perfect. Good power to weight. It's extremely light, well balanced, and agile. But, if you're just a regular joe, looking to have just one saw, look for something with more cc's. I figured the 271 wasn't worth the extra $100 for only 5 cc and a half horsepower more than the 250. Numbers don't tell the whole story though. My buddy loves his farm boss while I'm kinda disappointed with my 250.

Hey fellas i have an MS 250 and two bigger trees on my property I need to cut down. For those trees I want to put a 20-in bar on it. What bar and chain y'all recommend?

I have the 291, 250 and even a 170... plus a little ol antique Stihl 015 that's nearly 50 years old.... my fav is my 250... light weight and more then enough power for most any projects around home or farm... my 291 is great for the bigger stuff but the weight of it is pretty brutal, which is why I'm gonna sell it and got to a ms261. Lighter weight and entry level to the pro series. Also, I always see guys on these channels and in groups on Facebook claiming 20" and up bars are the only way to go. WRONG. Unless you're cutting big timber everyday you don't need anything longer then a 16 or 18 inch bar. Cutting off the stump can easily be done with a 16"/18" bar quite efficiently. Seems like people think the bigger the bar, the bigger the man for some reason lol 😆 don't lug around any extra weight then you have to.

291 is a good work saw!....I cut up a 35" tree for 6 hours straight, in summer heat....they can REALLY suck down Fuel if you Push them hard! But that's how you know it's a good saw....it sucks More fuel, instead of just feeling "limited" on the job.

I am deciding between either the MS 291 or the 261 (pro). I don’t like the 261 price but I sure like it’s lower weight and power. Leaning 261 but that hurts the pocketbook a lot more than the 291.I am thinking the extra $150 may be worth it at around $620 💵😢

Just bought a Ms291, isn't used it yet. Before I've been using a cheap home depot Ryobi, excited to use a real machine
