I have an all original 064. Serial says 1987. Original muffler finally gave up so I’m picking an aftermarket dual port and going with a max flow air filter as well. The single outlet on the OE muffler is only slightly bigger than the outlet on my 036. Bet it’ll wake it up nicely.
That 066 is bad to the bone for a stock saw. On the 661 I’m not sure if it’s was the piston swap or the intake being smaller but it’s seems a lot more snappy than other 661s I’ve seen run. Great idea making this video!
I would like to see a better comparison between the saws. Maybe by someone who does not cut into the other logs in the deck and finishes the cut. Maybe put them on a mill.
More proud to own it now then when I got it 15 years ago. They are truly hard to find with the original parts that made them so special (coil, carb and cylinder). The cylinder is a piece of artwork. KS really did the nicest cylinders pre-EPA.
Oil rabbit hole… Only thing I would say about the visual oil film tests, I’d add petroleum dye as some oil dyes are much darker than others. If you redo the Dominator test with some dye added it will change the results.
They have just about every color under the sun. I’m using purple, and it don’t take much to make the mix dark dark, like 2 drops off of a small screwdriver.
Is it a red switch 92 power head? Ive read alot about that but heres the deal. I have a 1986 all original with a red switch and i have a 1992 red eye all original with a red switch and a 92 066 red eye with a black one a lil earlier in the year. They say osha. But that doesnt make sense now to me. So what im getting at is whats the deal with some being red some not?
@@richardflagg3084 thank you. My 661 is mostly stock under the jug. I just cleaned up the ports and made them smooth/matched the exhaust to the muffler. I thru a timing wheel on it and it was pretty dam good stock. I’m still thinking of getting it machined and ported by Kevin from opm. I have a max flow air filter and a bark box with an additional port and widened the stock port and took out the baffle. Also a Timing advance. It pulls a 36” with authority. Just wondering if that piston would give it a little bump in power. Keep up the good work!!
I would like to buy a 661 but my dad won’t let me because he doesn’t like supporting companies that are wholly owned by one rich family. He also won’t let me shop at Aldi for the same reason.
