Yes, it's called an eye-level grill. When I was growing up it was standard but nowadays grills are usually down in the oven section. Personally, I think it's crazy - eye-level grills are much better, you can see conveniently how well done the toasted item is at a glance without having to bend down or open the oven! These days, they seem to be mainly on more expensive cookers, but they used to be standard in regular old ones like the one Jack and Victor have there.
@kennethmacgregor-Gregorach

@coldwhite4240 Aye, I grew up with one as well. We had a gas cooker, and it was perfect for making toast and keeping things warm. These days, I have to put my back out bending over as the grill is in the oven.

I worked as a resident groundsman /social worker for 12 years in South London and the grounds covered 2.7 acres and i and six elderly women living there took care of 9 foxes .All had different characters two were friendly and one was special as she would come in my front door and steal my garden glove then i would give chase then she would drop it until i got close and run off with it again. One summer i lost my Timex watch in the grounds, could not find it so got a new watch the next summer there it was in the middle of the lawn with both straps chewed off but still ticking . I would build a bonfire in the winter and the next morning i found the vixen curled up in the still warm ashes ,she looked up at me and went back to sleep,i noticed a couple of small singes in her fur, even in the summer they would sleep on top of my grass mulch as grass mulch was warm due to the breakdown of grass into mulch . real characters with a sense of fun.

I love foxes & it pisses me off when people bad mouth them by spreading false information like foxes eating cats or attacking humans. Im in Scotland, have 3 cats, foxes often appear in my garden. Can honestly say over the past ten years many many foxes have visited in fact I always leave a bucket of water out for them (& the birds).. never once has there been any negative confrontation or animosity between a fox & any of my cats, in fact they either don't really acknowledge each other or the fox quickly kind of "trots" the other away. I feel foxes have a hard enough time trying to survive without people scaremongering. X
@jubeaumont6305
@jubeaumont6305 8 месяцев назад
@@thatcatboab Mate, foxes are little bastards when they kill your hens. I can see them struggling during a freezing Scottish winter though. If they did something good like killing rats or something they would probably be tolerated more. I dont mind them that much though.just leave my hens alone. Have you ever heard of that russian experiment where they took the most docile foxes and bred them and kept doing that with every generation, only breeding the most friendly ones and now they've ended up with fully domesticated foxes? You can buy them as pets, but foxes do stink cos they piss everywhere constantly. Theres a few videos about them on youtube , I think you would probably find it interesting if you like foxes.

Old school cooker. Reminds me of my nans older cooker (that was older than my dad lol, almost bloody war time thing) it's basically a grill, it'll have a gas burner in there like a smaller oven, with the tray super close to it, so it's good for toast, bacon or whatever, then it'll have a proper oven on the bottom, with the hobs/burners for pans and stuff in the middle. My Nan would always have a pan with oil ready on the hob. Just leave it on there for a week or two to do chips/fries in whenever, lovely crisp and dry. I remember when she finally got a new electric one and kept forgetting she didn't need her long kitchen lighter, or matches to light it. Just turn the nob and go

1:42 That's the grill, for toast, etc. When I say grill, I don't mean a BBQ grill, it's basically just a tray assembly with a heating element above it. You would use it to keep food warm if you were doing a fry-up, presumably that's what he had the stuff there for. One thing people would usually use them for would be cheese on toast, you toast your bread, butter it, put some cheese on it then stick it under that grill to melt the cheese. That's an ancient cooker though, they usually come as another function of the oven now or you just buy a normal toaster if you're just doing bread. 4:46 Yeah, because they put the grill up there, they can put the controls for the whole cooker there too.

It’s basically just a gas grill he’s got the tray under. As someone else mentioned it’s eye level. Much easier to see where everything’s at and if you need to turn it. When I grew up we had one like that above the cooker. Best and most powerful grill ever. I legit really miss it, modern grills just aren’t the same.

I’ve still got a cooker like that, the grill tray at eye level, I get one of these cause they are the best grills

It’s a grill but usually it’s on top of the oven but this is an older standalone one
