Still Life is bit unusual motif for Silk Painting. But since I like the idea that Silk Painting can be treated not only as Decorative Art but also as Fine Art, Still Life may look very interesting and vibrant on Silk. I always use a palette, I mix colors, I let them blend on Silk; I use glazing - all those are Fine Art elements.

I make silk fine art without Serti because I dislike lines. I never thought that silk art was decorative and, actually, I've never heard that. It's interesting that people would think such a beautiful art is only decorative. To me, that's like saying that Michelangelo's beautiful Pietà is just a carving in rock. About your stretching frame~ Can you please tell me what your stretching frame is here? I've been trying various techniques to create a quick applying frame that I can stretch my silk quickly. I've been looking at using wool carding "brushes" also called carders, specifically the thin metal teeth, on all 4 sides of the frame. Here your frame looks like you're using the same idea just larger wire or metal hooks. Does this work well for you? What does your frame look like without the silk on it? Your piece turned out gorgeous! I love your whole opinion on how each artist is influenced and influences other artists. Thank you for sharing so much with us! God bless!

Denise! Sorry for replying late, but still I'm here to Thank you very much for such an interesting text! About the definition between fine art and decorative art... may be it was my poor English... but thank you for attracting my attention to that point. I'll make a little research and will turn back to this topic. But in no way I would mean to evaluate decorative art worse than fine art. There are Pure Masterpieces. But what I meant was a different approach - mixing colors on a palette, trying to create 3d impression and all this stuff... As concerns frames...
