Hi Tami, yes, I agree with you, my oils look more atmospheric than my gouaches. Probably because I can't refind my oils as much as I can do that when I paint with gouache. So in comparison to my gouaches, my oil paintings look hazier. This particular painting turned out to be quite vibrant. I now want to experiment with oils and different supports to see if I am able to consistently achieve results similar to what I can do with gouache. As for the tripod, you can buy any other tripod. There are so many of them. When buying a tripod for your pochade box, you need to look at two parameters: the weight of the tripod (if you are going to go outside with it and carry it around it should be too heavy) and how much weight it can hold. If you are using the box I use, you will need a sturdy tripod because that box is pretty heavy. You can also search for a Slik tripod on ebay.
