Still life painting with reflective surfaces

Man, that was so great. I leaned a lot from you. I am a retired public school art teacher here in the USA. I thought I would learn techniques, etc in university. We weren’t taught enough of how to paint, etc. when I look back in my educational experience, I get angry because I was under the strong impression that we would get that. I was wrong. For oil painting: Done background first.., Start work on object, Use darker shade firstly, Then use lighter shades, In the end use white, Now work on shadows, Then enhanced background when first layer of background compeletly or partially dry.. , Again gives some shine to your painting... , Is am right?
