Imagine Robo coming into strive, basically not changing at all and being like: "what? This is a completely different game? Lmao don't care" while proceeding to fill the screen with more rockets than the virus on Kim Yong Un's laptop.
"It's not about the viability, it's about sending a message" Honestly hope we see Robo-Ky back, loved his short time in the he spotlight in Xrd Story and they have a pretty decent reason to bring him back. Gotta see that Venom Money at work and a new shiny body along with it.
As much as I love the guy, I don't think he's coming back, at least in SP2 My man retired together with Venom, and Slayer, Jam and Asuka (leaked characters who were either scrapped or have yet to be revealed) along with other fan favourites like Johnny, Bridget and apparently even A.B.A. and Delilah being heavily hinted at in story mode are not in the game yet. The guy has some competition 😔
@@Goomensteinhey they brought back bedman, so it's not like popularity is the sole determining factor in a character being brought back. If he has a good reason for coming back or an interesting story to tell im sure they'll bring him back.
Robo-Ky's version of Greed Sever is actually Robo-Ky 2's version from Isuka. In Isuka, you could customise Robo-Ky 2's moveset with some of the moves from other characters, and Greed Sever (plus its follow-up) was one of the moves. In fact, his sprite is slightly different from Ky's as his sword turns into a glow stick. Another one of Robo-Ky 2's moves that he borrows from Ky is Stun Dipper, except Robo-Ky 2 turns into a race car and shoots lasers from his eyes, it's really cool. A lot of Robo-Ky 2's stolen moves have some notable differences from original characters, such as his version of Eddie's flying having an FRC point and Eddie's Damned Fang/Damudo Fang having the FRC point on his whiff animation. I think Robo-Ky's one of five characters in AC to reuse sprites from Isuka (the others being Testament, with his EX mode's 5D being his Force Lane attack; Ky, with his Lightning Strike also being his Force Lane attack except it's played in reverse; Order-Sol, where his 5D is taken from Sol's Force Lane attack except his clothes, sword and ponytail were redrawn; and most of ABA). Kinda disappointed that, of all of the moves that Robo-Ky 2 had, where they gave him completely unique, creative sprites made, they only one they used in AC is the one that's a redrawn version of Ky's sprites with minor differences that nobody except an idiot like me noticed. One thing you forgot to mention is that Robo-Ky's j.S and j.HS have switched places, to make him more similar to Ky. The one where he swings his hammer horizontally has this yellow trail following the hammer. In Accent Core, it is transparent and it lines up with the head of the hammer. EX mode Robo-Ky has the older version of this move, pre-AC, where the yellow trail is actually drawn in onto his sprite, meaning it isn't transparent (as trying to make it transparent would make his entire body transparent as well) and the yellow trail is placed a lot lower (which makes its hitbox lower than Ky's version of his j.S) even though, visually, the yellow trail does not line up with the head of the hammer. Essentially, AC's hitbox is a lot higher and may miss a standing opponent, whereas in the older games/EX mode the hitbox is much lower, even lower than Ky's version. The animation of his 2HS is from Robo-Ky's Ray Divider move from the older games. Prior to XX Reload (so GGX, GG Petit 2, GG Advance, and GGXX), Robo-Ky was just a really bizarre version of Ky with an odd voice and moveset (and green skin and yellow eyes in X2), with his walking animations have him crawl on the floor. Reload gave Robo-Ky new sprites, which made him actually resemble and act like a robot. That particular animation got slightly redrawn for Robo-Ky's self-destruct super.
Great breakdown, I was looking forward to this one. Robert Kyle will probably never come to Strive but that won't stop me from wishing for it to happen. -Still sad he wasn't playable in Xrd-
normally Robo only has access to 1 version of his specials at any given time: level 1 at 0 pips, level 2 at 1-4 pips, or level 3 at 5-10 pips but EX Robo can access almost any level of okizooka/air missile/DP with any bit of meter level 3 if you use 236H/j236H/623H with over half pips level 2 if you use 236S/j236S/623S with at least 2 pips level 1 if you use either input without enough meter (H with less than half pips, either input with 0 meters) in theory this is WILD. there's no real reason you'd want level 1/2 okizooka or DP, especially if level 2 DP loses its invuln, but Robo's highest-damage loop combos use level 2 air missiles rather than level 3 (while level 3 missiles are for neutral) there's a chance EX Robo has even longer missile loops if anyone was willing to lab him but EX Robo is so different from regular Robo that I doubt Robo players wanna relearn it all
This is so interesting. I hope for ex chars in strive, with them becoming unlocked when you beat them as the Red and Black versions in endless. Maybe, depending on who you play as, the sequenz of Red and Black challengers change so you actually get to play as ex nago without days grinding away.
On top of that, you could make the ex chars more xrd or +r like, meaning more technical stuff and more moves (like vertical chemical love) but either with less damage, worse skalling, worse tension building, No red rc or maybe even completely unique weaknesses that could make them balanced enough for online play, at least in the park.
Probably nobody ever played vanilla X2 but robo-ky was different in that game, would be cool to see a video on that version of robo-ky (and maybe other characters too because why not)
Ex robo doesn't have the super loop I'm sad (Using burst to reset the explosion he does in overclock after an air juggle with punch super to literally do the combo again by doing frame perfect charge into overclock into punch super above a mat)
Alright, hear me Out. What If RoboKy Upgraded himself to the Point of becoming more like Sin than Ky? The Robo influences could balance Sin's playstyle in strive while still keeping it strong. Less huge lance thrusts- more spacing with inconsistent projectiles. Honestly, i'd be really interested in the visual design and the resulting playstyle could be awesome too
