This looks brilliant. You've pitched it very well. I actually stopped the vid about halfway through to avoid any more spoilers. I'm defo gonna get this on the 5 once I've finished Alan Wake Remastered. Also, I find the concept of a game I could finish in 6 hours strangely appealing at the moment.
@@CouchCoop128 I stopped on the bit that showed a load of horrific organic matter pasted over a wall. Not really a spoiler, but I was finding it really intriguing, so I think I want to go into this one completely blind to what's in store for me.
The voice acting sounds phenomenal! This game ticked all the buzz words for me... Lovecraftian, annihilation (how fucking good is that bear scene), The Thing AND on an oil rig... We need more mrdia based on deep sea monsters. The film underwater, is a big fav. This one definitely on my to play list.
@@CouchCoop128 SX has a quality option and performance option. I played on performance and it was a solid 60 the entire game without a single dip! Visuals were gorgeous too.
Not gonna watch this till after I've played it. Started it but the Lovecraftian comment, at the start, already told me more than I knew. Chinese Room, 70s and oil rig had me sold already. I happened to order the PS5 version yesterday Usually digital but my wife's dad liked Everybody's gone to the Rapture also, so I offered to go halves on the disc and let him play it first. Too busy with Classified France 44 and Prodeus at the mo.
@@CouchCoop128 yeah I set it up for her dad on ps5 earlier. Made him a list of settings. I've found Performance (60 fps), grain off, motion blur off, controller x and y 60 is the way to go. Did the opening and found the tradeoff with quality (30fps) was negligible compared to performance (60fps) you can tell the difference analysing stills but it is great in motion. Some displays don't handle 30 well. Sound was fantastic on speakers and subtle haptics. I'll have to wait now but was really impressed with the scuffs and dirt throughout the intro, feels authentic.
Okay so I finished the game at around 6 hours and cleaned up for Platinum 141 in 3 hours. Didn't look at trophies till after and was surprised to see I didn't need to do much. Playing the whole game in Gaelic (even all menus and prompts) isn't one you'll get naturally though. I loved the location and setting (being from the 70s) but would have welcomed a couple of different ending scenarios. Sound was impeccable, on dynamic range headphones and 60fps was smooth throughout and only juddered on loading transitions. I wouldn't put this in the same league as Alien Isolation for tension as there was no real consequence for failing. Super fast loading and generous auto checkpoints took a lot of the fear away for me. Again performance mode on, motion blur and grain off on PS5 is definitely recommended. If you enjoyed this consider the Amazon series The Rig, from last year. Very similar. I'd also recommend the indie Welsh village set game Chasing Static. Similar interactive walking sim with a retro demaster style presentation. And if you enjoy that, consider Murder House by puppet combo. It actually has a good story. Play in first person mode though.
I got big colour out of space vibes just purely with the colour choices on some of the areas. Very good game it flew under my radar until today. Finished it today aswell.
@@CouchCoop128 no, it’s a next to play game.. after Sand Lands which is currently being played and apart from the unbelievably repetitive chit chat between the characters, is a mighty fine romp. A random question for you coop, did you enjoy Kane and Lynch 2? Or did you detest like so many others? Just wondered as I loved the style of that game like no other. Btw, I checked out co-op as you asked, yeah, surely the next big thing…. No, not really.
@@amnril Kane and Lynch 2 was 360 right ? was that the one embroiled in that review bomb scandal, it was split screen i seem to remember ? or was that just the first ? its hazy as we as flat mates back then swapped games around, that 360 had ALOT of games ! It was a really good cover based shooter right ! that and army of 2 !
K&L2 was wild! Didn't care for the first, but the second one was just so different from anything else at that time. It felt like one of those cheap, grimy movies you'd rent out in the 80s.
Great stuff man. This Game is very much on my Radar, i haven't had a chance too Play it yet, been Finishing Off Stellar Blade, Played Through Hellblade 2 and checking out M. Bison in SF6 but i will defo Play Still wakes the Deep. I'll Play it on the Series S with Game Pass.
cheers dude, yeah you'll love it! its like a well written film, and you don't see many of them nowadays, what's Stella Blade end like? should i push for it ?
@CouchCoop128 no probs, yh sounds like it's a very cool Game all round. The Ending of Stellar Blade is decent, you have a Choice too make at the End, the End Boss is very Tough plus there is 3 different Endings I've heard aswell.
All I knew was what I read on the Xbox Store since its on Gamepass. I kinda assumed it would be some sort of Lovecraftian horror since it said "an otherworldly horror" but I was not expecting it to this extent haha
