I'm glad this piece was chosen to be revisited. As was said in the video, you have to try it on to really tell if it's right on your wrist. I have a 6.3 inch wrist, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well it wore on strap (not the bracelet). If you have ever worn a Speedmaster, which I owned for several years, the wearing experience for the BB Chrono is similar to that. Not a small watch by any means, but probably not as big or chunky as what's been said about it. Again, nothing beats actually trying it on for yourself. Still tempted to get one!
The biggest difference between the speedy and this is the Tudor’s slab side which makes it look huge. The speedy has a faceted case with thin lugs and a rounded caseback that make it visually thinner and sit lower on the wrist
I bought this watch 2 weeks ago on the bracelet. I did express my interest on day one. 2 years later I see one in the local AD window. So I brought it. The watch is definitely more available to buy in store now. But honestly I thought I would have it a lot earlier. I have purchased 3 Rolex models from my AD since 2019, thought would have in 6 months. My AD were just not getting many of these watches in. The price was £3900 but ended up having to pay now £4450 which is still a lot of watch for the money. Plenty on e. Any under list price. But it’s nice to have a new one, for the sake of a few hundred pounds.
I have the reverse Panda, I had the choice of both but I prefer the black face. Its a very well made watch. looks great. I have both bracelets and its very versatile. love the bezel.
One thing to worry about with this watch is having silver and white hour and minute hands against a silver/white dial. In photos and close-up shots they look great. But in reality it makes it hard to see the time quickly, especially in darker rooms. I've sold off about 2-3 white dialed watches because of this fact. I'd go for the reverse Panda version of this watch if I didn't already have the Tudor Steel/Gold chronograph version. The Steel/Gold version is not nearly as popular as the Panda and Reverse Panda but take a look at them because you can get a good deal on them if you look hard enough. It's been a very solid watch that looks great, funky, but great!
Ive had this watch for over 2 years. I don't understand this complaint from non owners. Not once have I ever had an issue telling time on this panda variant. If you owned it, you'd know that the hour and minute hand is a more pure white than the dial. The dial is like an ivory white. So there's more than enough contrast. Now if you're a senior citizen with aging eyes, then sure I guess that could be an issue.
True . I use it for swimming and hard to read the chronograph minute hand once goggles are a little foggy. Also at night after Lume is gone , hard to read the time at first glance .
Ok. I have this watch with the SS bracelet. I bought in used, but perfect condition almost unworn condition. It’s a terrific chronograph with a great power reserve. It’s a keeper for me! The two most important points that I want to make very clear for anyone who is considering one are: 1. The pushers can absolutely be (A.) Unscrewed while on the wrist simply but tilting the wrist away from you. Then, even I with very large fingers/hands (size 14-15 ring finger and 8” wrist/ 6’2”/220(100kg) can easily unscrew them without taking the watch off and (B.) You 100% can leave them unscrewed without having any concerns about accidentally getting water in the case as there are excellent gaskets that will not allow water in for example from a sink faucet or shower head. 2. This is a large 41mm watch that is built tank like and is not for someone who is not use to wearing larger watches. Do not waste your money if you are concerned at all about size. If you do not have at least a 7”+ wrist and weight 200+ I strongly do not recommend it. It is the heaviest watch I have ever had on my wrist with the exception of a 46” Breitling Super Ocean Heritage. The way I purchased the watch was from someone who bought it and then immediately after wearing it for two days thought this is simply too much watch.
I do as well. Wearing it now. It gets noticed more than any other watch I have, especially watch enthusiasts. I’ve had it on the bracelet since March, ‘22, and I’ve been thinking about getting the brown leather strap to change things up, and maybe tone it down a bit. I keep going back and forth on wether to buy the strap or not, because I don’t know if I see myself really tucking that gold bracelet away in a drawer…. I wouldn’t recommend it for a one watch collection though-so much heft and wrist presence. 👍
Another good review Oleg, I cannot disagree with any of your comments including a preference for no date but as you say it works OK with this watch. I got mine on the bracelet back in January and I'm pretty happy with it on my 7" wrist. I also tried it on before making the purchase. The reverse panda dial should have better at a glance readability but I'll be sticking with the panda.
Similar case thickness to my Black Bay 58. I sold that watch and bought a 41mm sub for that reason. Even on my large wrist it felt too thick and bulky. My 41mm submariner no date is the perfect fit for me, but the watch in this video is an awesome piece of kit.
I fell in love with this watch when it was first released and had come very close to pulling the trigger on it a number of times. Since that time however, Seiko came out with the Speedtimer series, and the newest 41mm with the silver dial was impossible to resist. So, for the money and the incredible looks and Seiko -quality build (solar no less), the Speedtimer was the one I went with and am extremely happy with it. Still admire the panda Tudor BB, but for the money and from a value perspective, the Seiko Speedtimer wins for me, hands-down. Thanks so much for the great review!
I can't really see Tudor doing a handwound model, it would kind of go against their ethos. That being said, I was lucky enough to get it upon release on a bracelet and I have since added the Tudor nato and leather (incl bonnet) to the mix... Prime stuff indeed!! Though it is no longer a daily wear for me, I go back to it fondly: I love the looks, the movement, the water resistance and the value proposition ❤
I was on the list for one of these and also the No Date Sub at the same time. I had the call for the Sub within 10 months but waited well over a year for this one to come in.
When this gets a t-fit and metas certification ohhh boyyy! It’ll be such a winner. I’ve tried the black one on and was so surprised how well it fit being larger at 50mm lug to lug.
This watch is available in most Tudor ADs .Priced at £4,550 on a bracelet. You can pick one up on the grey market for about £3500 with box and papers . It’s not a hot watch anymore .
This is a highly attractive video about a beautiful watch. I have three chronograph watches, steel speedmaster pro, black bay chrono golden panda (steel and gold) as well as Hamilton jazzmaster performer steel and gold chrono. I would say that all these modern choron are equally amazingly beautiful and with high quality. All are belonged to fun and casual watches to me.
Another good review Oleg 👏 I agree, it’s too thick for me. I’d rather a Breitling if settling on a thick automatic chronograph. My preference is still a Zenith for this type of movement.
There seem to be alot of people selling their Tudors atm. I’ve tried this one on at an AD and it’s mahusive. The thickness per-se is not the problem, it’s the slab side that makes it *feel* so much thicker. But the lug-to-lug is too long - there’s no need for it - and that sealed it as an absolute “no” for me. Maybe the slab-side and unnecessarily long LtL design language is causing many people to move their Tudors on, despite the attractive overall look? 🤔 It will be interesting to see how the more reasonable (on paper) BB54 fares by comparison (I’ve yet to try one on). Thanks for sharing 👍
As the happy owner of one of these, I do agree, however this is only happening because of the high percentage of people who are new watch buyers that buy a watch without trying it on. There mistake is a larger guy’s blessing of what I have come to discover is the most excellent chronograph you can buy for the price. Incredibly accurate and a 70 hour power reserve that’s a game changer. I still find it amazing that virtually everyone under 35 thinks that buying most everything on line is the ideal shopping experience. Watches, clothing, shoes etc.. I guess is you put a low value on human interaction and think the way to go is to believe what you “learn” digitally is good enough information to make a purchase than you get stuck reselling your new watch at a loss to someone who does not follow the same rules.
I thought it looked fantastic in photos but I was dissatisfied with the non matching date wheel when I tried it on, the stark white clashes with the pearlescent dial. Trying to match and failing is worse than choosing not to match. I think I would chose the black version with the stainless bezel. I could pick one off these up tomorrow on bracelet in my local small town but I’ve yet to even see an fxd. I’d say that’s the most difficult one to get hold off.
howdy from a fellow canuck just over the pond from you! I have the opportunity , and I narrowed my decision to this or the Explorer40. I have a 7.5 wrist like you. Which would you recommend?
A had to return mine do to the chronograph feature was malfunctioning. The second hand would creep forward one second each time it was reset. Shame it is a beautiful piece.
How does the Chronograph work? It looks like the 3 o’clock dial goes to 45. Does this mean that it only times up to 45 minutes? This seems strange when other Chronographs such as Breitlings time up to 12 hours.
I don’t understand the preoccupation with small watches. 50mm for a sports watch is appropriate for men’s wrist. Maybe a bit of an overhang on a boy’s wrist but then again little boys aren’t buying luxury watches.
Great looking Chronograph but she is big! If you would like to review My Zenith El Primero Rainbow model 01/02 0471 400 I would be happy to lend it to you. 😊
Very nice watch, cant fault it.... personally id prefer the reverse....looks great on leather but id rather the bracelet and the leather to switch it too occasionally....🏴⌚🏴⌚
Whether a watch is overpriced or not is up to the buyer alone to decide....I personally look for watch manufacturers that deserve the word manufacture, Tudor certainly does not belong to that group And if you buy the watch new, you lose 20%, so why waste money?
Hymn…Let’s think about that for a second. Rolex Daytona had the zenith movement one of the best movements still highly desirable. Facts b01 is an excellent movement. Do we see hx repeating itself here. Tudor has move from under Rolex. Wait and see, Tudor is what Rolex was, but better, example bracelets with 45 jewels. Rolex is still better hands down. If we compare a sub 80’s and a bb58 today yo, yo.. major differences
No one uses a chronograph at 3 and 9 o clock everyone knows that. I've had a chronograph for 9 years and only used that feature a dozen times.......but never at 3 and 9
Had the inverse panda. Loved it ... but it had a few fatal flaws, so I had to sell it. First, on a bracelet it is very heavy - over 175 grams. On a strap (nato or leather), it is very comfortable though. Second, the right subdial is not very legibile. As a person who uses their chronographs daily, that was an issue. But the death blow was screw down pushers, which I hated much more than I thought I would. If you time multiple events daily, it is destroys the enjoyment of the watch, at least for me.
@@qchang09 Nope, didn't dig. It is that you have to take the watch off and unscrew the pusher to activate the chronograph, and then take the watch off again and unscrew both pushers to stop and reset. If you're using a chronograph multiple times a day, it is a pain. Two more things. One, you can't unscrew them while it is on your wrist, as it risks damaging the pusher stem. Two, you shouldn't leave them unscrewed (I know Paul Newman did...) because it 1) exposes the pusher stem, which means it can be snapped off, and 2) destroys the water resistance such that I wouldn't even wash my hands with the pusher unscrewed.
@@GCPlati85 thank you for the detailed answer. Not what I expected but that's real wearing and using experience, much appreciated! I had a speedy, and those pushers don't require any unscrewing...hence no water resistance.
In comparison to a Rolex, I remove the bezel, and I was shocked to look at some of the parts from that day on. I sold it and never bought a tudor sense.
@@HaitianBokorLeonardElmera363 interesting how you can't be bothered to name any of these mystery parts. I'm a proud owner of many Rolex myself but I'm sorry to break it to you, they are also just a basic swiss watch with basic movements 😂. Have you bothered to look at a 3230 or a 3285? Now do me a favor and compare either of those movements to the B01 movement in this Tudor. You can proceed with laughing at how much more basic your Rolex movements look 😂😂😂. Embarrassed yet? People (I.e. Noobs) hold Rolex to such high regard but when you get more experience like me, you'll realize they're just basic mass produced watches in the same tier as omega , Breitling, Tudor, Zenith. Come back and talk to me about movements when you own a Lange or Patek.
