Sting: "I was pushing for a cinema style match with Taker and it just didn't happen..." *This is what real pain is, right here. We all feel it. A unison of pain across a whole generation*
Imagine if sting came with the invasion. Imagine the matches with Sting vs Taker in their primes respectfully. All the different angles n story line that could have been.
@@rioducci4798 problem is though, it would have been biker taker and for me that just isn't the dream. Dead man taker didn't return until 04, so around then or 07 would of actually been the perfect times, not 90s or 01
Sting brought me in back in 92 when I purchased his toy and trading card. I left in 2005 and AEW brought me back. This is awesome to share with my young son.
I agree, we always heard promotions called themselves a "family but we never really had seen it until that Brodie tribute show last week on Dynamite. They really took Amanda and the boys as one of their own, and especially 10 taking on the Big brother figure for The boys.
I just can't stop praising Steve Borden for being in such a great, I mean, GREAT shape at his fn' 62. Kicking ass, not losing a single step on the mic, giving us true spectacular matches and, most importantly, being such a humble, fun, crazy, into fans performer. The only real old school icon who can actually wrestle. Love you, Stinger.
Sting is the oldest frequently-active professional wrestler today, am I correct? Hard to believe that Steve Borden is 63 now, and yet he looks like he’s only in his 40s - while wrestling people half his age too!
Sting vs Undertaker would have been sick. WWE had no idea what they had when they had Sting. I'm glad that AEW is here to rectify the Legacy that is Sting. Can't wait to see what happens next.
@@russ3161able I cant believe undertaker had no interest in wrestling sting but my god the man had a wrestlemania opponent just about every year.. and with undertaker and sting comes the desire for one more match.. what a shame.
@@redmusichouse yeah they seem to do that a lot Just for instance on monday night raw Goldberg returns Hey who should goldberg wrestle at the next big Saudi payday? Hmmm Roman reigns? Spear vs spear DM? Nah let him take on drew McIntyre 😐 Same thing with sting and undertaker just give them two completely different opponents but have them work on the same goddamn wrestlemania 😓
I'm with you there. I got into NWA maybe a couple of years before you. We had very basic cable then so we were able to get WTBS. I was into the Horsemen, Steamboat, Magnum TA, Nikita Koloff, Rick Rude/Manny Fernandez, Barry Windham, The Freebirds. Sting came on the scene in 1987 and lit the industry on fire. I was in high school at the time...right around the time I had a teenage free-for-all party at my house. It was late summer/early fall. I'm so glad TBS is still around and wrestling is back on the network where it should be.
Sting was an avenger fighting for his company not being taken over by NWO, he was the soul of WCW fighting for its survival, phantom of the arena if u will. The last hope for the good guys, but he went to the dark side to achieve it, anithero, THE VIGILANTE. It was so well done, the storyline Sting vs NWO is the best in wrestlings history in my opinion.
When Andre the Giant tells you, " How you're doing BOSS", that's ultimate deep respect coming from him. Not to many guys get the label of being called boss.
My favorite moment in wrestling history- The NWO are in the ring, Sting comes down with his bat so they all leave the ring, Sting then drops the bat out of the ring, and they all come in and Sting proceeds to clear the ring. Such an awesome moment.
@@syiloman you know the sad part is despite me being a royal prick to Tony's wife and to reply in kind I probably would look worse than both of them as evil ages faster. Now onto something more impertinent Why Is sting who claims hes a Christian such a ball face liar? Wcw was never close to shutting wwe down however they did beat them 83 weeks in the Monday night wars.
Forever a scorpion! Sting will and always be my favorite wrestler. At 34 now.. he played a bigger role than I wouldn’t realize until later in life. The whole series of 97-98 his silence, from his character change from light to dark, mystery and silence.. these are freaking amazing strengths outside of the ring. Much love to Steve aka The Stinger! Thank you!
My hero from back since I first saw him on WCW Worldwide in 92 on a Saturday afternoon in UK, to seeing him live on multiple TNA UK tours, then finally in WWE & now in AEW.
I had heard of this fabled American wrestling in the early morning but never got to see it. It wasn't until ITV got Worldwide on Saturday afternoons that I got to see it. 1st show had a sit down promo with Sting. 1st PPV was Wrestle War with War Games, Sting's Squadron v Dangerous Alliance. I was gutted it wasn't shown on ITV, I didn't realise till weeks later that UK was months behind US & bought it on VHS from WH Smiths the next year.
I am happy Sting was in all those companies.. His WWE run wasn't the best, but it still had great moments. Everything has a silver lining, and it was cool as well to see him in the ring with Seth. Granted I wish Sting wasn't injured because unpopular opinion, I always wanted to see Seth face Sting. Regardless though I am happy Sting has something to say that he has been in almost every big pro wrestling company ever
I’ve been a huge fan of Sting ever since I started watching WCW back in 1997 when he made the transition to the Crow gimmick. Because of him I’ve watched WCW all the way until the very end. Then I switched to TNA to watch Sting. Finally seeing him make his debut in WWE literally gave me goosebumps. It’s a darn shame they misused him. Having Triple H beating him at Wrestlemania was a deplorable move. Not along after that due to an injury Sting announced his retirement at the Hall of Fame which was a sad day. Thought I’ll never see Sting geared up walking in the ring again wielding the bat. Seeing Sting in AWE is such a historic & surreal moment. It would’ve been perfect if it was a jam packed arena in front of live crowds. The crowd would’ve pop so hard for the Stinger. Especially hearing how exciting Tony is. Really takes you back to the good old WCW days.
I can only think of 2 wrestlers who got over without talking and let actions tell their stories, Kane and Sting. Both pulled the angles off in different ways in different environments but were the 2 greatest characters to go a long time without speaking.
A genuine man. Who is my childhood hero, but the man he is known to be out of the ring is why I still am a fan and see him as a role model of a good human being, little things like he doesn’t swear unlike many others who have appeared on this show. Tells us what a man he is
Sting hands down is one of the most humblest dudes man. To hear Tony and J.R. together again calling matches takes me way back to my child hood. Love you guys. Thank you for everything you've done for the business, but thank you for the memories. I know get to share these memories with my brother and my children. Thank you so much.
He is a born again Christian, and he has done some preaching on TV over the years, and he has a really good voice, so yeah I would love to see him do commentary at some point for AEW. Here is a video of him on stage preaching with Ed Young. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3IWPDAo1vkE.html&ab_channel=EdYoung
@@princeleo8803 ahh man ya missed the glory days, but like u said it's mostly here on RU-vid. Search for nwo vs tge sting army if ya haven't seen it allready.
Sting!!!! Wow!!! What can you say? I followed his whole career from day 1. What an amazing man, and A-1 talent. AEW..please utilize this KING 👑 the right way. One of the best pro wrestling has ever seen. Total class act!!! Thank you...STINGER for all of the great memories!
I’m 31 years old and Sting has been my favorite wrestler for every moment of my life. Top 5 favorite characters all time in anything, Sting is on my list. He’s Batman - except he’s real. 💯🦂
Sting said it so true. When WWE bought out WCW it felt like the enemy came in and took the women and children, especially the last show. I was like what the hell is happening?!
I have to say, especially after the Brodie Lee tribute, AEW really does feel like a family. I could feel the genuine love, respect, passion & solidarity radiating off the tv screen last Wednesday night.
huge respect to Sting, loved is run in WCW coming from the rafters as the Crow Sting it was awesome, his debut in AEW was one of the highlights of 2020,hes going to be a huge help to the talent moving foward
It's nice to get Sting back on #AEWonTNT and we love to see him with #AEW #AEWDynamite can't wait to see what he has planned for #AEW. would like to see him in a mentor role to the younger Talent also.
Sting's "Seek And Destroy" was the best WCW entrance music ever. The Road Warriors had Sabbath's "Iron Man", The Fabulous Freebirds had Skynyrd's "Freebird" before "Badstreet", Manny Fernandez & Rick Rude had Queen's "We Will Rock You", Midnight Express had Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase". NWA/WCW caught on early to getting licensed music for nationwide broadcast. But Flair started it in my book with Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (The 2001 Theme).
I love Sting... At WCW.. at TNA.. where I think he cut one of the best shoot promos of ALL TIME against Samoa Joe leading up to Bound for Glory 08.. the one about legends.... he was gaining momentum in my eyes in WWE until his unfortunate accident....I am so very very glad he is now with AEW on a long term deal👍👍👍
I always love hearing stories of how people got into the business. There’s almost always some kind of crazy, movie-esque story. Stings was no different. These podcasts are such a treat
IT'S STIIIIIIIIIIIING.... This is an ICON. Thanks for this interview. Thank you for joining AEW. Much respect to Tony Schiavone & Aubrey Edwards for another fun Unrestricted
Seeing Sting's face almost makes me wanna cry tears of joy. I fell outta wrestling about a year into the Wolfpack and haven't really followed since but Sting is an idol in a way to me. I honestly look at Sting as a wrestling god but I know he's religious and probably doesn't like that saying so I don't say that often. Sting really seems like a beautiful person. He seems humble and intact. Connected. I will always love him. I've never been close with my dad, he moved out when I was young but I still saw him every couple of weeks. Seeing Sting without makeup honestly reminds me of seeing my dad as a young kid....they don't look alike, that's not what I'm saying...but it has that familiarity. Sense of caring. Lmao sorry I just wanted to share that with you I guess
@@SirManfly so? theres people in their 20s and 30s balding. Brodie lee had a giant bald spot. Didnt hear no one talking about that. The rock started losing his hear 15 years ago and started shaving it. Stone cold was balding in the 90s. But bc everyone happens to know stings age, they have to point it and other flaws out.
Sting ive followed your wrestling career since u started U are my favorite wrestler of all time bar none &a living legend .Keep up the great work! 😊Im looking forward to U being the AEW heavyweight champion soon 💞👍😎God Bless U my brother in Christ.
I'll be the one to say it. A Taker VS Sting match would be worth the money for the entrances alone. Sting coming out to his Crow Sting iconic music of course. Those entrances and the staredown in the center of the ring would sell it. It's a damn shame it never happened. It should have!
This was the podcast I’ve been waiting for. I’m 35 years old who lives in Toronto Canada and I never watched WWE growing up (even though WWF used to come here all the time for live shows back then) as a kid because I grew up on WCW and Sting quickly became my favourite wrestler and to this day he is still my favourite wrestler of all time. The very first WCW Show I ever saw was Superbrawl 4 with my uncle and that same night I turned down going to a live WWF show with my aunt. Best decision I ever made.
