Gosh, the 80s were his decade. He was in his prime and so hot. 🥰 Branford Marsalis on soprano saxophone.

I'm French, and I was 14 y old, I remember listening to the entire concert live Aid. It was so intense, cannot forget it . Thanks Sting. Plus, his saxophonist rocked too.

I remember watching the entire Live Aid event. I was only 25 and couldnt believe all the legendary artists that took the stage in England and the US. A great achievement by Sir Bob Geldof. Id just seen him in concert with his Boomtown Rats a year or so earlier. A bit surreal when i think about that show and so soon after creating Live Aid

Amazing. Hard to believe that this is nearly 40 years ago. It feels like only yesterday that I was there with my (new) wife. Her birthday was the day before and the Live Aid tickets were my birthday present to her - and she was a massive Sting/Police fan. An unforgettable day.

Agree 1000% , I stayed home to record it , but I am so glad I did , as for the first 20+ years , that recording was all I had...

@@teddystacker I was doubly lucky, in that my brother sat by the VCR (remember those!) and patiently recorded the whole event for me as well 👌🏼

I had quite a story. I convinced my long suffering mother to rent a state of the art Nicam Stereo VCR , for just for a month. Then spent the three weeks before , not going out so I could save up for 6xE180 TDK tapes (8 quid each at the time). Then borrowed a stopwatch , so I knew when it was time to change the tapes - Really happy days looking back at it. So very glad I went to all the trouble..

I remember, I got hold of a video recorder. I gathered as many cassettes, as I could find. And then I spend the whole time recording. By then, there was no internet, you could just see things once on television, so I tried to store the whole box like a real treasure. And then I prepared evenings for my friends showing parts of the event and trying to explain, how much this meant to me. Thx for bringing back those memories. ❤

Wow , a day early this week!. Thank you once again for another "missing" part of Sting's Set.. One bit of trivia to note - Back in those days Sting had much more of a Geordie accent , he seems to have lost it over the years when you hear him speak today...

@@teddystacker BBC did well to be fair. I'm not sure if Dream of the Blue Turtles was released at this time, I think I was waiting for a new Police album...............still waiting 🙂 but Branford Marsalis really added something to this arrangement 👌

Yes , the BBC did a great job , esp when they decided to "keep the tapes" and even record some of it in Multi track. My American wife sadly got to watch the ABC broadcast , that was truly Dire with adverts cut in over the top of artists and some artists not covered at all..
