Led Zeppelin Live Aid 1985 3 Stairway to Heaven Stereo (Read Description First)

Led Zeppelin's infamous return to the stage in Philadelphia's JFK Stadium in July 1985 to support Bob Geldof's international "Live Aid" event to bring relief to the Ethiopian famine. Introduced by Phil Collins, the band takes to the stage with Tony Thompson on drums & Collins tagging along.
Part 3: The Led Zeppelin reunion takes flight on the Stairway, & carries with them 90,000+ along for the ride. Does anybody remember laughter?
This clip has been cleaned up: the green hues from the 20 yr old + tape has been removed, the brightness & contrast have been balanced out.
The audio has been synchronized to the FM broadcast captured on an old cassette tape. That audio was pretty messed up & had lots of dropouts, hopefully the results are satisfactory.
Enjoy!!!
Watch in HQ with headphones (if possible)

And what about the show they did recently for the Celebration Day film. I've been playing for 38 years and he's one of my main influences. I will say the solo in this vid is pretty week. yea well I disagree that he was always just a bad performer period. and I'm a guy that has stood up there and done it. he had a good stage presence and usually hit the notes. his writing was brilliant. A lot of brits from his era started out with blues. y'know that was how the whole British invasion began?

@bubhub64
@bubhub64 11 месяцев назад
These guys literally came from different places on earth to be together to play this one off gig, with only about one hour of practice time before hitting the stage. With that in mind, I think they sounded great. I remember watching this event on live tv with friends as it was happening, and we were all overjoyed and stoked that the remaining members of Zeppelin were actually performing again. Listen to the joy and cheering from the crowd at the end....they all thought it was great. The VJ's from MTV were beside themselves from happiness. This was an historical moment in rock history, and for those who criticize this performance can go screw themselves, because EVERYONE back then enjoyed the experience and thought it was awesome.

What so many forget in retrospect is that they agreed last minute to play a few songs that they hadn't played in years to raise some money for a good cause. It was meant to be watched and heard once -on that day. It was a disappointing performance but it was never meant to be be picked apart for years to come on RU-vid. The crowd loved it and money was raised. By the way, I'm old enough to have watched it. The excitement level was off the charts. If you were in that crowd, you wouldn't have gave a shit about the sloppiness. You would have had a f 'ing blast.

It's crazy to think that some people in the comments actually went to this live show, like to have so many amazing bands and solo artists such as led zeppelin, queen, Bob Dylan, and mick jagger is just mind blowing to me and get each artist to have 20 minutes of playing their music is just crazy my head would explode halfway through this concert of all the greatness present

No, it’s not “would have” it WAS. Live Aid was the best concert in history. Period. Back then you had to pay to have access to most music video stations as most humans had just the most basic of cable but on that day everything was free. The world opened up and channel corporations allowed the average person like me to watch this extraordinary event. Until the Gulf War a few years later I had never seen paid channels open themselves to everyone. All performers kept to their time frame, no one tried to go over and no egos got in the way - it was the most amazing concert ever! And Phil Collins tool the concord so that he could play at both the British and US concerts - he just wanted to play the drums and help out. There is a book that came out shortly after the concert, but I’m sure it’s long out of print by now, but it or the DVD are well worth the hunt. This was the concert of the century and beyond, it changed music, and it was one of the most amazing experiences watching on my living room floor settled into the shag carpet!

I was there and it was excrutionably hot. It must have been 95 easy all day. The good part was they allowed coolers so we had lots of supplies.

@@laurabaird7267 i agree with your opinion but being there was something else. I still have my ticket and a mint condition sweatshirt. I have been to hundreds of shows since 73 and that one was epic. I was only invited by my friend the day before and had to scramble to catch a flight. And wouldnt you know it an electrical storm prevented me from taking off. Didnt arrive at my friends house until 5 a m . So with 2 hours sleep i managed to stay up in sweltering heat to an epic concert and event.

Man those were the days. O how i miss the old bands. That was when rock and rolling was coming ahead on it. Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and many more rocked this nation to it's core. Wow, what a time to be alive. It'll go down in history that's for sure. Everyone have a great weekend ahead 😀 😎. Peace 🙏

Jimmy is high as a kite and with his worst performance still plays better than i most people ever could. Thank god he got sober and is in good shape in his later years in life.

I don't condone substance abuse and I'm glad these legends have cleaned up since their hay days. At the same time, loads of brilliance came from legendary artists so, there's something to be said about creating during an altered state of consciousness.

@@Yourfavoritesalad "he actually admits" you meant to say "he actually blames the drummer" perhaps instead? Jimmy was really fμcked up in this video and his performance is sloppier than his usual "sloppy" style that he has.
