If the night turned cold And the stars looked down And you hug yourself On the cold, cold ground You wake the morning In a stranger's coat No one would you see Ask yourself, 'Who'd watch for me? 'My only friend, who could it be?' It's hard to say it I hate to say it But it's probably me When your belly's empty And the hunger's so real And you're too proud to beg And too dumb to steal You search the city For your only friend No-one would you see You ask yourself, 'Who could it be? 'A solitary voice to speak out and set me free' I hate to say it I hate to say it But it's probably me You're not the easiest person that I ever got to know And it's hard for us both to let our feelings show Some would say I should let you go your way You'll only make me cry But if there's one guy, just one guy Who'd lay down his life for you and die It's hard to say it I hate to say it But it's probably me When the world's gone crazy, and it makes no sense And there's only one voice that comes to your defence And the jury's out And your eyes search the room One friendly face is all you need to see And if there's one guy, just one guy Who'd lay down his life for you and die It's hard to say it I hate to say it But it's probably me I hate to say it I hate to say But it's probably me I hate to say it I hate to say But it's probably me I hate to say it I hate to say But it's probably me

Please stop telling people that this era of music is over. It’s also your fault if the radio always plays commercial stuff. And when I say you, it’s not even personal, I’m just talking to all the people who is so pessimistic. Just support the young people who try to play this kind of music, possibly without being obsessed with the past. Don’t misunderstand me, please, I love this kind of music, otherwise I wouldn’t be here, but still… …let’s support the next generation: Ezra collective, Cherise, Alfa mist, Masego… Blues and jazz will never die my friends. Just keep your ears connected 🥹

A more perfect ballad written & recorded (to sum-up the fictional life and struggles of character Martin Riggs, and how the unlikely pairing-up with (mentor ?) and partner Roger Murtaugh helped pull him from the brink of suicide) I cannot even imagine. The creative energy in the studio when this was recorded with the combined talents of Clapton, Sting and Sanborn must have been unreal, and I'm grateful they had the presence of mind to get parts of it down on video. I wish more artists would consider doing that, rather than wasting copious amounts of money on hiring professional movie-directors to create 'junk' for the likes of MTV and VH1 to broadcast to the mush-minded masses to ignore and/or only use for 'background entertainment'...

Don't know why but this song is so perfect for this movie. You know what? I really miss this time when we had these action movies, and the ost was that awesome so you can remember it 21years later.
