It's 2:32 in the morning and I have school in like 5 hours from now...I should be asleep, but I just HAD to come here and listen to this Masterpiece. I want to be just like him.
+Richard Quinto Haha, youknow, people often pick out the people that they look alike to, or are similair to in skills or interests as an example. Pretty sure you just don't know it yet, but you are similair to Sting, I'm sure.
Well my friend, it's been 6 years but I kinda gotta say I'm a teacher, got school soon, in about 6 hours, and I'm listening to this, just as you were. Cheers and much love
I wonder if artists are now ashamed that they supported political changes in South Africa. As a result of the change of power, South Africa turned into a hole of shit. The collapsed economy. HUNDRED THOUSANDS of white farmers were killed. The holocaust of white people has been going on like this for years, and the world and artists have been silent.
Just a castaway. An island lost at sea. Another lonely day With no one here but me. More loneliness Than any man could bear. Rescue me before I fall into despair. I'll send an SOS to the world. I'll send an SOS to the world. I hope that someone gets my Message in a bottle. A year has passed since I wrote my note But I should have known this right from the start. Only hope can keep me together. Love can mend your life But love can break your heart. I'll send an SOS to the world. I'll send an SOS to the world. I hope that someone gets my Message in a bottle. Walked out this morning, Don't believe what I saw. A hundred billion bottles Washed up on the shore. Seems I'm not alone at being alone. A hundred billion castaways Looking for a home. I'll send an SOS to the world. I'll send an SOS to the world. I hope that someone gets my Message in a bottle.
I both sang this song while paying drums. Hate to blow my own trumpet, but my instrument was drums! I could play drums while planning to connect with a beautiful female in the audience!
The reason why Sting played this song only with the guitar was because all drumers around got shit scared at covring this song. Stewart is a living leyend.
don't tell bulls*** , the drummer here with sting was my jazz band teacher 23 years ago : one of the best drummer, out there at this time Jean-Paul Ceccarelli ! his musicianship is amazing, and can't be denied ! that's how he got the job ! Manu katché told sting to hire him ! You"ll have to find an another reason why sting played this song on guitar only, but telling it's because the drummer is non sense at all. Jean Paul played with chick corea music which were much more harder than this one !
Absolutely 100% sure! In 1988, I was 17 and watched it live on TV, as did 600 million other people. Ever since, when making solo cover music, this is my preferred version to play (along with the transition into it from Every Breath You Take, currently to be found in other YT videos of the same event). You might want to check your Wikipedia: "...The Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute was a popular-music concert staged on 11 June 1988 at Wembley Stadium, London, and broadcast to 67 countries and an audience of 600 million. Marking the forthcoming 70th birthday (18 July 1988) of the imprisoned anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela, the concert was also referred to as Freedomfest, Free Nelson Mandela Concert and Mandela Day. In the United States, the Fox television network heavily censored the political aspects of the concert. The concert is considered a notable example of anti-apartheid music...." Always happy to help ;-).
