I know that you feel a bit self-conscious in cropped tops Karina, but they really do suit you. Paired with the wide leg pants, it's a stunning outfit. Thank you for the sew along.

Cropped top? Are you referring to a different video? I haven’t watched this video twice at the time of this comment, so I apologize if I missed something; but I don’t recall seeing a cropped top version in this video. I’ve been sewing garments for over 50 years, so maybe my understanding of what you’re calling a cropped top is outdated? To me, “cropped” tops are a style that is typically at the waist or even higher. 😊

Fab styling of this super cute top. I love the cropped length version most! Great tutorial for sewing the collar and placket. The block fusing method was brilliant. Thanks, Karina!

Love your humor for this video with the "stinking cute" description and the sped up parts at the end. :) After watching, I purchased the Venado Knit top through your link. Thanks for your excellent teaching methods. Block facing cutting has much improved my sewing construction!

I saw the top on your starting shot and went and bought it from your link before I even watched your video. It's so cute. I love stretch blouses! And shawl collars are my favourite! I had to have it.😊

Love the cropped version! When I saw this pattern I thought "love the rolled collar, but I don't really need another polo shirt pattern." After seeing your sleeveless cropped version with a skirt, it struck me as the perfect top for skirts, something I'm always on the hunt for. Thanks for going rouge again!

I hope you get paid well from the pattern companies! You are the best ambassador ever.🤣 I got at least 10 amazing patterns I would have never thought of or knew about just because you showed me what great things you can make with these and what small changes do to it. Great work, great channel, great tops! Thank you🥰

I actually don’t get paid per se for making the videos. The commissions are an indirect way of making an income. So it’s very different and not correlated with the amount of work that goes into it. Some brands don’t even have affiliate programs….

Thank you for another very useful video! I really appreciate that you show the extra steps to baste and stay stitch your garments during construction to ensure a quality result. I sometimes use 3/8” clear elastic in the shoulder seams of knit tops and jackets and stitch using what I call a “wobble” stitch - stitch length of 2.5 and stitch width of .5 or 1. This provides just enough give to the seam to keep the thread from breaking under stress, especially with children’s and men’s knit tops. The clear elastic is cut the exact length of the shoulder and not stretched when applied. Thank you again for your wonderful videos!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 месяца назад
The only type of clear elastic I’ve found is super stiff and does not stretch at all. It does not feel good on the skin and it turns out bulky. That’s why I just use interfacing in the end. I know there’s flatter nicer clear elastic out there.
@GayleHallAZ
@GayleHallAZ 2 месяца назад
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Have you ever seen RTW tops that use narrow (1/4”) clear elastic as a way to keep the top from falling off the hanger? I always saved that elastic in case it might come in handy sometime. Well, when knit fabrics became available to the public in the 70’s, that’s when I started using it in the shoulder seams of tee shirts for my husband and sons. My daughters were girlie girls and didn’t wear tee shirts very often until they started riding horses. Anyway, that clear elastic in the RTW garments and the clear elastic I have is soft and doesn’t irritate the skin at all. I’m very sensitive to things like that, too. I think it might depend on how thick it is. 😊

Is there any issue with using a straight stitch on stretch fabric instead of zigzag?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 месяца назад
You need a zigzag in areas where there’s stretch in the garment. I used that for the hems. For the collar, because it’s a stable, interfaced area, I used a straight stitch. It’s not all black or white :) there are grey areas in sewing too.
