In spite of what so many seem to think, you don't need a big built up Jeep to go wheeling on the rocks. Sure, there are limits as to what you can do but even in a bone stock JL Wrangler 2-Door Sport running a set of street tires, you'd be amazed at just how capable they really are. Of course, unlike any other 4WD vehicles made today, they do come with a solid front axle and that means you can disconnect the front sway bar to obtain a lot more axle articulation or what some people refer to as, FLEX! And, to help make the disconnecting process a lot faster and easier on Pippi, Cindy and I decided to install a used Rubicon sway bar disconnect with an EVO No Limits knob and in this video, you'll get to see us put it to use and test it out on a trail with some challenging rocks.

Honestly, a slightly bigger MT tire, ditch the stock bumpers, and maybe gut out the plastic fenders, and I don't think anyone would really need any more from their Wrangler. And that's a sweet sway bar disconnect. I love it! And I'd love to see you guys do a truly budget "every man" build. Especially if you stayed below 35" tires. That would be some quality content

I'm really enjoying your "Pippi" series! It does a fantastic job of showing just how capable our Jeep Wrangler's are in stock configuration, and that I don't have to wait until I put a lift and bigger tires on my 2012 JKU and 2018 JLU Sahara's to have some real fun wheeling them. AWESOME VIDEO! TRUE AWESOMENESS! Gives me hope that I can have fun jeeping with my ‘21 WILLYS because -as you show here and in your preceding video- there’s an affordable option for a sway bar disconnect. I’ve been pretty concerned about this issue because I can’t do an expensive option and everything I do to my WILLYS I have to do myself. So, from the wholeness of my heart, I thank y’all for this awesome video. As a side note, watching Pippy (hope I’m spelling the name correctly) crawl all over that earth was SOOOO FUN! Your white jeep handled the terrain with ease and grace and it’s an impressive, gorgeous jeep. For me though, I enjoyed watching Pippy master the landscape’s challenges more. I was riveted! Especially on that waterfall/rockfall! WOW WEE! The Rubicon sway bar disconnect you installed is amazing. It's good to see that you did clear the obstacles and it was a manual; which I drive in my JLU Unlimited. I started with Jeeps with my new '75 CJ5 here in Arizona, 304 v8 with a three speed manual. At the time the 10.5" Tru Trac Rhinos were the deal. My suggestion for manuals with front sway bar disconnects and lockers, is carry just a very small amount of speed or "smash" as we used to say in the Air Force. This compensates for the reaction factor and inertial feedback through the drive train through the obstacle. This helps save your clutch, but you need to develop the feel for the particular obstacle; more is not necessarily better. Glad to see you adapted a manual transmission---theft protection device for millenials! Thanks! "Snydes"

I know the point is to keep it as close to stock as you can, I don't think anyone would give you grief for putting traction tires on. Don't even need to change the size up, just a set of tires with some bite. It's still cool you take it all these places to show what it can do. Kudos!

LOL - not gonna lie, Cindy and I fully thought we'd be forced to change out her tires a long time ago. We're astounded that we haven't blown one yet. But to your point, it's been about a year since we got her and I think it might be time for a new set of shoes - if only for more traction.

I have a Sport S and my only mods are Rubicon rock rails and some 33" tires. My tires are Yokohama Geolandar AT tires and while the tread isn't as aggressive as something like a set of BFGs, they do amazing on the trails we have in East TN. These beasts are so capable, even without lifts or massive, aggressive tires.

I think Pippi was just showing off 😜. Was amazed at the obstacles she could handle, although the manual trans looked like it could be a PIA.
@wayalife
@wayalife 2 года назад
LOL - Jeep really did wonders with their new traction control system. Not having a 4:1 transfer case is the PIA. If we had a Rubicon, she wouldn't have stalled as much. Of course, if I rode the clutch more, she wouldn't have stalled as much too but then, that would burn it out.

Mate I'm always impressed with how a stock Wrangler goes when driven well on the rocks but I'm sure with all spare part's you have in the back of the "Jeep Shed" it could be time to replace the front bar with a Rubicon stubby and a winch plus 2" lift & 35's 😳😁👍 Let's face it just about everyone with a stock Jeep doesn't leave it this stock for this long 😊😊😊 I really love your mod videos ❤❤❤

LOL - well, it has been about a year since we got her and we've still managed to keep her bone stock. But, maybe it's time for a few stockish upgrades. 😁

I think that Jeep would be great with a 4to1 transfer case out of a rubicon. Would make for a less stressful time with the clutch and love the video!
@wayalife
@wayalife 2 года назад
LOL - without question, a 4:1 transfer case would make a HUGE difference. But, the whole point of Pippi is to show that you don't "need" one to get out and have fun. Stressful times is how you learn to be better.

@wayalife

LOL - I'm far from anything close to a "pro" but flattered that you would say as much. Nothing wrong with stalling and way better than riding a clutch and burning it out.

12 engine stalls by my count. I think there were probably even more, off camera. This is why I prefer an automatic. Even with the stalls, Pipi did a great job.
@wayalife
@wayalife 2 года назад
LOL - without question, an automatic is superior on the rocks. It is the reason why all our big builds have one. Pippi has a manual to help demonstrate how you don't need a Rubicon or spend boat loads of money on mods, just to have some fun. 😎
@Ethan-rh2nz
@Ethan-rh2nz 2 года назад
@@wayalife the rubicon stick shift is slightly harder to stall just due to the extra gearing in it, but i think the honest problem is that the stock flywheel and clutch is just far too light weight, so easy to bog the engine down just with a quick clutch release
@Ethan-rh2nz
@Ethan-rh2nz 2 года назад
@@wayalife although the advantage of the stick shift is the cooling fans arent screaming loud trying to keep the auto cool enough so its a little more quiet and relaxed around it
