Well, since you asked. I would have to say maybe 30-40%? But I could be disqualified for that answer, because my expertise is not as a mathematician either.
Both very close cars performance wise but with stock tires etc it can be a bit tricky to launch them properly on a dig from the stock tune ,tire etc and having a lot of power in general doesn't help although from a roll race its where its all at in these cars.
Z06 manual ZL1 auto. Expected that outcome. Make em both auto version and the Z06 will trap higher and have lower et. And from a roll it's not even close. Speaking from experience.
@This username it's the gearing of the M7 vs the A8 that and the torque multiplication with the torque converter AND the shift extension. The A8 stays in peak power longer vs the manual's tall gearing. The A8 C7s are faster from a dead stop and all speeds.
Bakhtiyar Mamadaliyev have you even been out racing? both cars past 120 you see the difference. vette is just lighter and more aerodynamic. It’s obviously close for the most part
Good performance, fell in love with the zl1 and the 1le but the c7 z06 is rubbing off on me. I used to not like it as much bc i love the c7 zr1 but I'm seeing more and more of the z07 and it's growing for me.
Z0's have less cooling, about 35% vs the ZL. And the ZL has the gearing of its 10 spd to keep it in the race. Above 130 though and the Z0's light weight and aero wil take over.
@Josiah Schmidt yep, I’ve been looking at them in cali. The 2017s and 2018s are in the 60s but the 2019+ are in the 70s and up. I remember before the pandemic they were like 45-55k
It doesn’t mean anything. Just buy a real drag car. These cars are for the tracks that has turns. Quick adrenaline or long lasting adrenaline. I’ll take the long lasting adrenaline
The A10 ZL1 isn't a difficult car to drive, however, several factors will affect its' performance. Weather conditions, track elevation, track prep, and of course driver skill are just a few that will keep it from running optimum times.
Buriedmite You're absolutely correct but I would still think that those cars would be faster than a stingray, which usually pulls mid 11's even at high alt.
Ouch my car ran a 12.34@112MPH 02 WS6 with NT05's, tune, Bolt ons and headers. This is a 17yr old car with about 400hp These cars with 600+hp should be running better times
True but this is all drag racing now race either of these cars against your 400hp from a roll. You simply gotta know how to launch these cars properly since they pack a lot of heat
@325hpls exactly my thoughts. My friend has what you have and it's in the same time bracket. Those cars are great man. Along with the Camaro same years. 12's with the right add-ons. Fast enough for the street my friend
A lot of comments from people who apparently are bad at math. Power to weight plus aerodynamics all go to the vette...all the Z06 needs is a better driver! Stock for stock...in the same conditions.....it is IMPOSSIBLE for a ZL1 to beat a Z06.
Street Reaper My hot wheels Camaro has 21 inch tires a 3:45 rear end a SLP 2300 Supercharger and Pirelli P 0 super sticky tires. It is totally stock with a 6 speed manual. It is a ZL 600 with a 100,000 mile Chevy warranty. Chevy made this car with Roush and only one was made because it was faster than any OEM Ford or Chevy.
@@davidnudell7916 hmmmmmm.....ok....I didnt know that Chevy made a ZL1 with 21 inch perelli tires from the factory!! 😝😜😂 Not Stock! Stock for stock....a ZL1 can not out run a Z06 vette dude! Its IMPOSSIBLE.
Don't both these cars have the exact same engines? Im pretty sure the camaro has the c7 zo6 motor so basically same car different body style. The corvette should be faster cause of the aero dynamics by a little bit but i guess it goes down to the better driver in this situation
Both are very close… I think the Z06 is faster by a fraction of an amount don’t quote me but that’s what I think. As a Z06 owner myself I will say that warm tires are always great but everyone forgets that they both put down 650lbs feet of torque onto tires that from factory still can’t geg any grip with that much powerAND THATS STOCK. Another factor I think people tend to overlook is that they both are supercharged and require boost and launch best in the boost and it’s hard to geg the boost down unless youre practiced.
I just feel like the left side was too slippery considering both cars have the same engine it's most likely that if it's a fair game bit would be a tie
Id take the automatic ZL1...youd have money left over from the price difference between the two that you could use for performance mods plus it seats 4 and looks better
I got a base C7 and very content with stock 450hp. I don't care how fast the zl1 is. I rather take a year or more to modify my car for speed. And it's a beautiful fucking car. No matter where I go, in the hood or wealthy areas. Black, white others show that car love daily. I've had a supra, mustang gt, Lexus, Infiniti, Dodge etc... By far the Stingray C7 is the best car I've had and best selling corvette ever made. Research...
If you think the ZL1 is faster than the Z06, you know nothing about cars. The Corvette has ALWAYS been GM's fastest car. The Camaro is the little brother to the Corvette. A stock Corvetee Z06 is capable of a high 10 second quarter mile. The Camaro ZL1 can't run a 10 second pass, only low 11 seconds. You can like whichever you want, but the Corvette is the faster car. Both of these drivers were terrible. But I also disagree with the Camaro looking better. I think the Corvette looks way better. The Camaro is too bulky, the Corvette is low, wide, and sleek. It's a sports car with no compromises.
Wonder if they're racing both auto, manaul, or they're not even the same transmissions. Tires make a huge difference, too. My c7 grandsport has about 720 hp at the fly, and I've had to try 3 different tires now. I have no idea how these guys with 700 plus wheel hp ever hook up without a prepped surface?
I own both a 17 Z06 and 18 ZL1 both auto's...both cars on the same day at the track my ZL1 almost always gets a slightly better time and I tribute that to more weight on the back tires..seat of the pants feel out on the roads the Z06 feels faster but the one I enjoy driving the most is the ZL1...if I had to own just one it would be the ZL1 but both are awesome cars.
What ever you think pal...Not my first time on a track just giving you my own experience owning and driving both cars...it's obvious to me by your reply you never drove both on a track back to back or you'd understand why the Camaro gives me a better time 90% of the time.
marshalluniversity31 lol! No it does not. The ZL1, especially with the 10spd is out standing. I’ve done an 11.2 at 124mph and that’s bone stock on stock tires. Some have done high 10s bone stock. The ZO6 is no doubt bad ass but it is only maybe .2 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile at best. The A10 tranny in the ZL1 is far superior than the 8spd and lights out better than the manual 7spd. Those that state other wise have never driven either.
@@markzl1608 the TRACK is not a drag strip. The Z06 or Grand Sport which has same handling, will destroy the camaro on a track, it's built for it. The Camaro won't handle like the Vette on a track. But the Z06 will outrun the ZL1 on the drag every single time, barring driver error. The car weighs less, is more aerodynamic, has a fantastic A8 tranny, and has the same power. The ZL1 is a nice affordable package for a fast car, but the Z06 is the superior car, all the way around, as it should be for $30,000 more.
Unless they are racing on top of Mt. Everest, these cars are in serious need of a driver mod. My mom could run an 11 in either of these. Idk what these guys are doing
Dude chr quoted a 11.4 for the zl1 and motortrend only got 11.5 out of it , with a professional tester , these times aren't shocking because Chevy's never perform like they should out of the box
the z06 had the z07 package and was not stock, the wing gurney flaps were set for track and should have been adjusted as they provide more drag in that setting.
Yeah, but that plaid only reaches up to 172mph. While driving on the freeway. I was up ahead doing me, black Tesla plaid comes up on my ass. I’m in a not stock 2019 WideBody scatpack. My 305’s help grip better @ higher speeds. That plaid could never pass me or over take me. Stayed behind me the whole time. It had to actually slow down because. It was losing traction @ higher speeds around long bends. It eventually got off the freeway, prolly to recharge. And erase that footage they thought they would have passing up Mopar car. From a dig yeah, roll race yeah. But already rolling & wants to cut up in traffic? It’s always BYE BYE TESLA! Besides it’s not the car it’s the DRIVER. And we all know plaid or not. TESLA drivers are the DUMBEST.. 🤷🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@PowerofPlacebo The plaid will go 60-120 in under 4 seconds. It’s an insanely fast car. The older raven model was MUCH slower at highway speed. So I doubt it was a Plaid. If a Plaid wants to pass you it’s going to pass you unless you have something very very special with 1200+ hp under the hood.
@@supergrendel they only teach a TOP SPEED of 172. Plaid couldn’t go past 160-165 while CUTTING UP not a straight away dummy. NO TESLA plaid can CUT UP its not a performance track vehicle it’s a nerd car with nerds driving it. BYE BYE PLAID go recharge your battery. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🤣🤣🤣
@@supergrendel FYI don’t need 1200 hp if TELSA only reaches 172mph LESS then that if it’s going through cars on the freeway. STRAIGHT AWAY FROM A LAUNCH YES. Up Ahead of me yes. In traffic high speeds cutting up NEGATIVE… 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🤣🤣🤣
Ronald van der Putten , but you could have a Grand Sport with a Z07 package; the emblem would go in that same spot. I’m viewing it on my phone and can’t blow it up enough to see it clearly.
That’s a z06 even a grand sport with a z07 package the side vent stays the same as a normal grand sport and the emblem does as well. And when you notice on the second run the lights are clear at take off. The lenses are clear but they still illuminate a red light
@@Bigbossman12624 Camaro is and always was a pony car. If your looking for a muscle car, Dodge is the answer. ZL1 checks all the boxes for me personally.
What some of yall fail to realize is on a street tire you drive around the water box. Dry haze and go to the line. Both cars are spinning cause a treaded tire holds the water. Cant even hear the tires leave the line cause the are spinning in all that water. I bet their 60 foot times suck🤣🚦🏎💨 coming from a drag racer!
Funny how people all ways attack the drivers. So they should not race? They shouldn't have fun with their cars? Guess if your not born a badass racer you shouldn't even bother.
Speaking of ridding something, the Camaro is going to be discontinued in 2023 as its sales are low. In other words, resources that would have been devoted to the next generation Camaro is being devoted to the C8, explaining its cheap super car price.
Why on earth a front plate on the Zl1????? Take that thing off that beautiful car pls, eff the laws. I never run a front plate on anything I drive here in texas and yes it's a law.
Lol, if they're doing it just for sh*ts & giggles the waterbox ='s irrelevant. If they're running Michelin tires, you're tapping into about $1500 for a pair of rubbers mounted & balanced that will only get you about 20,000 miles if you don't hotrod. I got a whopping 13,500 miles out of my Goodyear Runflats on a c6 GS manual. Asphalt seems to like eating the rubber on Vettes.
Its not irrelevant. The whole point is seeing what you can run safely. Street tires in front pick up more water in general. Going directly through the water box will tread water all the way through fucking up your launch and putting water back on your rear tires after a burnout. Not only that street tires with their tread will flip up more water during the burnout out if you go through the waterbox. It all falls on the rear tires. What is best to do because I have a ZL1 so I know. Is to go around the water box completely on street tires. And do a small burnout to get the rocks off the street tires. The launches will be much much more consistent. The water literally fucks everything up when on stock form on most cars.
I love stock car races makes it more interesting and entertaining I hate when they start modifying cars then they race them it complicates things. People want to see how totally stock cars doing against each other so you know which one to buy I hate when these RU-vidrs come on and say their car did a 11 second quarter mile stock then all of a sudden they say well I changed my tires I took the seat out of the back I did the exhaust it's all clickbait.
