you should get your self a ball mill and machine that can grand up all you stuff. then run it in a ball mill to make a powdered out of it. then get a shaker table like they used in like the Alaskan gold run shows it separates by weight of each metal etc.. You will then have contitrations of Copper, gold and other metals already separated for you. Then when you process further you will be able to use less chemicals ect to get out stuff like gold, palladium and other metals. It will save you time and money on chemicals ect.

I’ve been saving MLCCs. It takes awhile to add them up because they are small. I also turn in my dental scrap which has a decent amount of palladium and other precious metals.

Ben, have you ever sent any of these materials off to an assayer to be able to calculate the theoretical yield of all this stuff? I'd be interested to know how much precious material you would get for say a kilo of raw scrap. Something to quantify your holdings.

If you weigh up your tantalum stock, find the tantalum (pure metal) price, then divide by 10 to get the value of what you have (yet to be processed and purified). At $150 per kilo, divide by ten, that's US$15 per kilo.

Did i hear your thinking about moving out of the city? whoa nice move,.into country or other suburbs? I would use the older nitric acid as a mix or additive when using full strength nitric in a process.

put the tantalum capacitors into a ball mill (or even a rock tumbler with some ball bearings) to grind it down so it would be easier to store same with the crystals and maybe even the bgas also it would be much easier to process you could even use a gold pan to get the heavy metals

In the fall I heard in Canada they opened a tantalum mine.

Hey guys, I have a question about doing this type of work, especially picking up old computers, opening and opening and fixing them; does doing all this expose you to health problems associated with exposure to heavy metals, possibly causing birth defects or cancer? I want to pick up old computers and rebuild/upgrade them using the ram, cpus, psus, etc... Thanks!

you should get more of the boxes you can stockpile in them you can transport tools and tuff with them and i am sure that you might be able to sell them tats on your part to check

A 2n2222 original metal can transistor has gold leads and gold plated can and costs less than a penny each.

There is more silver in tantalum capacitors than tantalum also I heard that the black tantalum is better than yellow tantalum for silver recovery

Don't use Nitric acid on your gold plated pins. Use the cheapest acids you can buy in your home improvement store. I used vinegar and pickling salt this summer to dissolve about a kilogram of iron on those pins. I will probably use the hot Sulfuric acid (drain cleaner) to get rid of the rest of the base metals.

Pretty sure that aluminum electrolytic caps don't have any tantalum or silver.

There is more than one method for recovering gold from ewaste. I personally think I would use smelting/cupelling methods instead of using chemical reactive methods. The cost, health risk and sludge disposal and safety equipment costs are much much lower by smelting than with chemicals.

mate get yourself some 15% or 20% vinegar abit of salt and get some of the gold leafs of f phone cards the lot its a long soak about three weeks or more but if you add a fish tank air pump you will start getting the gold instead of lumps of board attached , winks better off and hide away ya know what black birds are like and cover so ya chucks dont fall in it

If you feed the chicken with these little gold-pins and whatever gold rich component, the chicken may start to lay golden eggs. An almost golden color your chicken already has.
