My son is 3 right now. In a few years, I’m going to teach him caveman yugioh. It’s going to help with adding, subtracting, reading, problem solving skills, and taking turns.

I think he'd be better off with a game that promotes interaction rather than being completely self-centered on the actions to be taking. Little children are extremely self-focused, before learning math they need to learn how to socialize and give others the respect they deserve. Probably the number one thing I hear modern teachers complaining about is that parents haven't properly socialized their children which leads to degraded education for the entire class.

@@nichan008 yugioh is low key gambling...i wouldn't get my innocent child into this game for the sake of learning addition and simple subtraction...lol..go take him fishing, teach him useful things in life. and like how this commenter said, teach him how to socialize, how to do the small things that matter in life...money management etc... im a collector and i go to locals from time to time to trade and pick up cards....the pool of people...just the quality of people are stinks...sewage stinks.....i played this game while growing up and do you know how often cards were stolen at locals? where do you think those degenerates ended up? THEY ARE AT YOUR LOCALS NOW.

I think people should remember that representation of game characters is usually a little extreme for both genders. There are real people that look like that. Whether it be models or bodybuilders. It goes both ways.

I always kind of raised an eyebrow when i'd see women complain and say that men always get depicted realistically compared to women. and then I can't think of a single male character that has a remotely attainable body type, they're all literally like the most jacked body builders in the world, at weakest they look like WWE super stars and they're all roided up to high heaven.

I had a player at my locals get angry with me and try to say I slow play because I didn't scoop after he stopped my combo twice and I won the game by attacking with a big Fighting Flameswordsman over the next 10 turns

I played this game for so long with fake cards, and when they releaced speed duel i started collecting speed duel cards. Because that is the way i like to play, old school cards and anime duels. But konami desided to stop with speed duel europe... this is sad. I ak might quit the game...

In tcg I don't really scoop. Because depending on the match my opponent can not know what my cards do or when to stop me. In MD I scoop a lot more because if I know a decks end board and I have no interaction on their turn and my hand can't play through 1 interruption I'd rather scoop and hope the next game is playable

Quiting games prematurely is pretty annoying. I find it's not too often you have a good, fully realized duel in MasterDuel. I can see scooping when you opponent has every extra deck boss monster on the field with omni negates but why scoop when I resolve Salamangreat Gazelle?

Because salad is a boring deck to play against and does the same thing every game. If you are going to have X hours of playtime a day, might as well skip the chore and move on to the next game hoping for a better duel.

If anything gets negated my first turn, I'm actually just screwed with my deck. And then when they pop off and start using half their deck on their first turn, I just give up. It's not worth my time to face a much better deck than what I'm running.

@TemporalDelusion I can understand you or other people may consider a certain deck, like salad, one dimensional and boring to play against. I certainly agree that if I go up against a long combo deck (like Superheavy Samurai) with a super brick hand, I would probably scoop immediately to save the ten minutes that deck combos on turn one. What kind of deck would you consider more fun to play against? Do you prioritize playing fun matches versus ladder climbing?

@@qwelve5848 Yeah I do prioritize my personal enjoyment over rankings. I spent most of my youth grinding challenger each season in league, I just don't care about rankings in video games anymore. I also dislike long combo decks that basically end on an FTK. I consider decks that are relatively mid-range and put up some disruption with minimal set up time, while not being overly linear. Branded, Vanquish Souls, Sky Striker, Tear (without ishizu), HERO, Swordsoul, Generaider, Tri-Brigade, Magical Musketeers are some decks that I play. Non of these are a functional FTK lockout, nor do they takes ages to combo aside from maybe HERO, but I'm usually fast with it since I play on a PC. Salamangreat would actually fit as well, but I personally find them to be extremely boring as no matter what they just go trough the same motions with very little layers to the deck. It's also a mostly "non-engine" deck. Basically handtrap.deck with 1 linear combo or bagooska pass. Raging phoenix won't change my mind. I have the deck IRL, in the process of selling it for these reasons.

Oh! I know what you're talking about with the chonky cards with lil inbuilt sliders! Except I only know them from the Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest card game, which I only knew existed because I found one shoved at the very back of a cabinet at a houses I rented once.

I actually won my first local tournament by being stubborn about not scooping, because in my first round I bricked hard and couldn't play anything, and the hand traps I had were dead because they just didn't work on the monsters he was playing, but I knew he could get a lot of damage on field and he ended up scooping when he saw i wouldn't give up

Bushiroad lost me when FCBF was cancelled after I finally found a way to buy cards by ending the anime and then the card game itself. Also, no one even knew about it around me and I don't have the capability of teaching people. Their distribution in the states was nothing in my eyes.

I think the real crux is that you should be able to have both of you want. You don't need to demonize a stacked poison ivy. You also don't need to demonize wanting a poison ivy that is less stacked. I think having this overarching guidelines is kinda lame and could have been worded better. It's all about the aesthetic of the world. For example like the BTAS poison ivy vs the New Adventures both have a place and are great designs.

Yesterday while I was playing Master Duel with my Shinobird deck slowly climbing plat I ended up drawing 3 Aratama and 2 out of 4 of my ritual monsters. Master Duel had a good laugh at me.

On scooping, I've definitely cheesed games in the synchro days in situations where my opponent clears my board and attacks with everything at once and I go "What do you attack with first?" and they just pick up all their cards even though I didn't even have Gorz in my hand.

A Yu-Gi-Oh raid boss would have to have built in floodgates. Like a 9000 attack summon limit on legs that ravekis the board once per turn or something. That can't be tributed or affected by cards.

28:20 Raids could probably be made to work for bosses in Speed Duel, similar to the Boss "decks" from old OCG events. You'd just face down a raid skill, or even make it an 1 vs all archenemy ordeal. That said... SpD doesn't look like Konami is doing stuff behind the scenes as we just found out today that the EU card legality was updated to *exclude* Midterm Destruction print cards specifically, by name.

Things like ticking boxes in games should be worth considering yes, but such changes shouldn't being implemented so much so or be the sole focus to a point where immersion is broken. Also, most people don't play games realism.. Things will be hyperbolic (be it characters, worlds, interations, items or combat). Speaking candidly, this is precisely what makes games enjoyable to begin with. Lastly, a video game character doesn't need to look like you or have similar ailments for you to like the character or agree with their morals or hell.. even to relate to them. Use heroes as example. Black people don't need white skin to like, understand or empathize with Batman. And white people don't need black skin to think Storm, Blade or Black Panther are likable, relatable and believable characters. Hell, I'm not even white and I find Peter Parker likable AND relatable. You can do the same with gaming.. I feel the same with Sora from Kingdom Hearts. He's a likable character that enjoys his friends. It's not that difficult bro...

This might be a hot take, but I the only time I surrender a duel is when I don't want to watch my opponent take 15 minutes to make their turn. I play crappy decks and I really don't care if I win or lose; I just enjoy playing the game. Especially if I only have 30 minutes or so to play Master Duel, I don't want to spend the majority of that time watching someone take forever making their board. What is extra painful is when I have no cards on the field or in my hand and my opponent, who has a stacked board, still proceeds to take 10 minutes to further their combos instead of just attacking me for game. What do you all think?

Gotta say, Alec absolutely nailed all the points on the Xbox's "consideration" thing. There is a disturbing trend of treating certain actual body types and proportions of females, realistic ones, as something awful to boot. Also glad you brought up the comment from a female player. It feels like most of the time this discussion is brought up by the male demographic or less than noble female people, not necessarily with an agenda, but a level of disdain for other females. No one tends to ask most female gamers how they feel and often they don't care or dislike the push. The discourse reallllly needs to get away from female characters and a ton more into how races are being portrayed if anything. I will admit there are times when I do wish armor designs were better distributed though. Not because I necessarily want a female looking tough in full armor, but rather how awkward it can look while I play a game as a female.

Im not much for stories but heres mine. I remember i played at my first and only locals once upon a time and unwittingly showed my players deck to many of my opponents. My ace card was judgement of anubis and had it face down waiting to play it On my second match. The dude was not drawing anything nor would he attack yet he could easily take out my monsters cus he knew i had judgement on the floor...he forfeited lol

Skit: Yugioh players "actually" reading their cards and discovering new and previously unknown effects. (Ofcourse these are fake. Branded Fusion: "Before resolving this card, your opponent can search their deck for an Ash Blossom use it's effect from the deck." Miscellaneousaurus: "You can banish all monsters from both players deck that are depicted on either player's playmat. Your opponent can negate this effect by reading this card." Toadallyawesome: "If your opponent tries to activate an effect while this card has no material; you can attach 1 card from your hand or gy to this card. This is a quick effect during your opponent's turn.")

I beat Snake-eyes with Ninjas on Master Duel. A full duel and I won because they ran out of time. I had more LP in the end as well. I landed a 3500 hit on them directly through their full board😂.

I never quit a duel. There's always a chance to come back, and I've done it several times. Baiting my opponent into negating the card I want them to so I can activate another or holding out for a lucky pull or an opponent misplay is a great feeling. It's great when you win like that and it's so satisfying.

I'm definitely like Paul where I actually do like Little Caesars. Obviously, the price point is the main seller. Fast food and food in general is so expensive now a days that the sound of getting a cheap quality large pizza for under $7 is hard to pass up. But for other pizza spots: I actually never liked Dominoes. Always thought it was gross! It wasn't till a couple years ago where a friend told me that you have to order pan style from there to get the good Dominoes pizza and they were right. Pan style from Dominoes is my favorite! The first time I had Pizza Hut when I was a kid I thought it was so good! But now when I have it as an adult it just tastes mid and like a waste of money. Where I live we have a place called Round Table Pizza and thats kind of unanimously described as the best pizza for tastes but it's more pricer than Pizza Hut or Dominoes so its seen as more of a special occasion type of pizza joint.

I really like all videogame consoles, I just care about playing the games, not what I am playing it on. The one thing on Xbox that sucks is that they only use 50GB Blu-ray Discs for their physical games compared to ps5 using the higher capacity discs. Makes me wonder for the future for Xbox physical discs since some games won’t have the full game on the disc and require to download the rest of the game data with also the patches and updates.

Before I forget, I just want to add some comments (without repeating what I said in LIVE chat): Alec hit the nail on the head by saying "when they say they want it being more realistic, they don't mean that, they want it to be more average-y". What Alec failed to mention is, the people that are complaining, aren't gamers and aren't the customers of these products to begin with. They have no problems ruining it and that is in fact, their goal. Attractive females, and by extention, everything that a typical "straight white male" would like, are offensive because it reminds the woke activists something they are not, and thus everything a normal guy would like must be destroyed. Once they destroyed one medium, they won't stick around to financially support what's left of it either, they'll just move on to the next medium to destroy. It's only now we're really starting to see pushback, end-stage wokeness, as some would call it. But like all Marxist movements, they won't go down without doing as much damage as possible on the way out. But honestly, if you're offended by a drawing, you severely lack real problems.

might be a hot take but i don't want games to be inclusive. I actually want games to be as exclusive as possible to their fans. Think of dark souls, its not a very inclusive game, its brutally difficult and really only appeals to a particular kind of person, and that's why its fun for those people. Same with the Neptunia rpg series. They are a bunch of anime and gaming stereotypes with waifus as a face, this won't appeal to a wide audience, but it does appeal to its audience.

Yea it hurts to be a bushiroad fan. I love vanguard and enjoyed shadowverse. Both games being their own thing. But of course bandai. Is coming out multiple card games with already known ips. So of course people want to play them. It wasn't fun being the only vanguard player in my lgs. And everyone already picking up bandai tcgs games once they came out. I do wish vanguard and shadowverse do get its recognition soon. But it will be slow.

Second thing with Japan stealing isn't as bad as America or anywhere else especially because Japan has a 90+% conviction rate so having the card handed to a customer isn't a big deal or abnormal

Oh and magic always has had games within games . But the early on cards that did that all got banned because they usually take up too much time and now they're doing it frequently. They did it with the clue collab set , the dungeons and dragons sets and now this new one

One last thing unless i hear or see more bushiroad has been suffering from the success of bandai card games fs. Shadowverse evolve has been making somewhat big waves with god packs and everything that would make any other card game hype but alot of tcgs are crowding its growth. And vanguard reset itself 2 times which caused mass exodus of players and union arena steps on weiß shwarz toes

I'm not sure about indoctrinating kids into yugioh of all things, knowing full well how many negative aspects it has. There is so much else out there I'm not sure I would even want my own children to get into it. It's also not the responsibility of parents to propagate the game, when we didn't get the cards handed to us either. We saw it on the weekend cartoons and asked our parents ourselves. What is konami doing to further the cult?

@@MrJayKay11 The entire business model of the TCG is beyond predatory enough to get my kids into it early on. How often do you see adults getting into the game vs how many of the players you know got into it at a young age and stuck with it? Why do you think that is? I love the game because I grew up with it and the love that I carried with me allows me to stomach much of the negatives. I wouldn't give it to my impressionable kid to get attached to something that is going to end up giving them more bad than good in the long run.

I feel like YGO is a bit dark to show my kid (4) yet. But we 100% play Pokemon TCG together. Granted I have to do the reading and the math, I'll explain the kind of plays he has access to. He knows what some of the trainer cards do on sight. He's learning the mechanics, the reading and math is coming. I'll probably take that applied math idea and see if I can get it to click in his head with staged battles.

The challenging thing with depicting characters in a proper way is that it's impossible to really satisfy everyone. If you cater towards the majority at every step for character creation, you end up neglecting minorities whose numbers add up to an amount that you can't simply push under the rug anymore. Paul bringing up the mentality of "If my opponent lets this go, what can I do?" was a huge eye opener. That train of thought really helps when you are stuck in a corner and none of the lines going through your mind seems to work out, because like Alex said, you will always think your opponent will play against you optimally, when in reality, they won't always.

I did not know the Acolyte was set in the High Republic era! LISTEN PEOPLE, I haven't been interested in Star Wars media in YEARS, and the only reason I'm still a fan is because I've been listening to the High Republic audio books on Audible, and almost all of them are PEAK! They fix so many problems I've had with the Jedi, the nihil and the nameless are actually terrifying threats, and the characters are not only more diverse (get over it, it's a good thing, and you get a wookie Jedi which is awesome), but they also have more depth to them than I think any other cast of star wars characters. The best part? You don't really need to know anything about the franchise to hop into the high Republic. As long as you know what the Jedi and Sith are, who Yoda is, and you like a mix of fantasy and sci-fi, I VERY MUCH recommend all who happen to be reading this to hop into it.

There are only three things that makes me forfeit the duel instantly: 1. The moment I see my opponent play a Labrynth card, I'm done. I don't give two shits what anyone says. Labrynth is the most annoying fucking deck ever made. Activating cards on my turn for 10 minutes and destroying my hand and field... no. 2. Superheavy Samurai is an instant no for me. I've only dueled two people with that deck, but it felt so overwhelming ridiculous. I don't know how to handle them. 3. It's the start of opponent's turn and he has enough monsters and total attack points to kill me... despite that, they're still activating cards and summoning more extra deck monsters to flex. I'm not wasting more time watching you boast and play with yourself. I'm out.
