We lost a dump trailer last month. My nephew put pictures on facebook along with the story. 2 weeks later an ex-girlfriend of a man contacted us with names. Then another gentleman contacted us that a neighbor has a similar trailer in his driveway being painted. Contacted the police and went to the address to find our trailer being painted by one of the names given by the ex. Social media and ex's can be so helpful.

My standard replies: How far? About halfway! Are we there yet? Almost! How much longer? Just a little longer! How much further? Just a little further! You always say that! You always ask that! During the estimated final 30 minutes I'd give them updates at 5 minute intervals. Eventually they grew older and quit asking. Great times. It's exactly why passengers shouldn't be carried and usually aren't on post maintenance test flights. It doesn't matter if the A&P signed off on the work or not, it's not a smart move to put someone elses life a risk, especially a family member. Jimmy would've never forgiven himself if something happened to that little boy.

Jimmy is not a stupid idiot !!!! I'm real sure he loves his son. Jimmy knows aircraft well and he even said that this plane was buitiful to fly and was very smooth long before he decided to take a short test flight to check the gauge they replaced. We have to remember that Jimmy is a aircraft macanic and knows every inch of the aircraft inside and out. I'm real sure he would not be flying the thing with his son if the plane was just brought and they jump in and fly about... I assure you that he is not a mug ,. And even though he acts a little dumb at times .. he ain't dumb , To have the skillset that Jimmy has would take multiple years. I trust him and his knowledge. I'd let my son fly with him in this situation because I trust him because I have seen how methodical he is meny times.. he didn't get were he is by collecting coupons 🤔

@@robertrose1098 Nobody said or hinted at anything in your long winded post. But these planes hes dealing with barely air worthy and need work thats the whole point of his channel. MY comment as well as the other after mine about this topic are valid. If that motor had stopped he could have easily killed himself and his son which has many more years left to live than his Dad. Its a responsible thing to do and by all means do what ever with your life but when you are talking about a minor and doing test flights AND then an engine that almost died on video my comment is not wrong. I have nothing against Jimmy and im sure he is a great mechanic nobody said other wise. Test flights are typically restricted for good reason.
@ssn608
@ssn608 2 года назад
@@robertrose1098 He had a power loss on run-up. That made the flight suspect. If you think the cause was momentary, and can't reproduce the loss of power during runup again and want to fly... I can see that, but I don't carry passengers on first post-maintenance flights. And wouldn't dream of doing it when there were indications of possible engine problems ... unless it was my mechanic who said he (or she) needed to observe operation in flight for some reason. Sorry, Jimmy, but... that was not the best decision I've seen you make.

Jimmy, love your videos and how you are doing it with your sons….forget the naysayers and parent your way. There will always be folks who disagree no matter what you do. Phil and Jimmy, my heart goes out to you. Been spinning wrenches for what, almost 40 years. Years ago, I arrived in the workshop, to discover that several of us had been the victims of a burglary. I had never thought of it, but today I have well over 100,000 dollars' worth of tools and equipment. Back then, guys said, "dude, you get new tools!" On the contrary, those tools are an extension of my hands. None of them was worn out. Until this happens to you, most don't understand. I was happy with my "old" tools, I had tools that were just right for the task. Replacing them was a real quest. Yes, I had plenty of shipments from Snap-On, Matco, and Mac. I'm glad that the thieves were both greedy, and stupid. Eventually, they were caught on camera at another dealership. it really warms my heart to see the outpouring of support from folks here. It means more for Phil than words can convey.

The good thing is most pawn shops will refuse buying marked tools unless the person selling can prove they are his initials, they have been down that road before. It doesn't stop them from being sold at a flea market. Many thieves will simply dump them in the trash because they don't want to get caught with them. I unfortuneatly have been hit many times. I happen to have a really good insurance agent (wife). She said that he needs to insure his tools separately on a "floater" if he is going to have the tools in transit, rather than stored in a hangar. Auto insurance won't cover it and the business coverage won't either. So you have to insure the tools itself.

Wow that’s a vintage panel. I took my Sierra on my first IFR cross country this past weekend. No ants.

You have to have a separate policy to cover your tools and have to submit an inventory sheet listing all your tools in detail to have it covered by insurance. Learned that lesson the hard way myself when i was in the contracting business.

Insurance companies in my opinion are one, of if not the, greatest recipients of charity on the planet. 2 British comedians Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett did a sketch in which the insurance company exec explains insurance to the potential client thusly.... "You the client sign the forms and handover the premiums " "Then what happens " asks the client. "Nothing" says the exec. 43 years of tools, some of which can never be replaced Insurance Companies should be compelled to pay out in instances like this. As it stands they are just the same as the thieves. Eric

The way I see this case these guys knew what was inside you just don’t go to all that trouble to get inside a van that might be empty and if they tried to steal it they would’ve taken it they would not have taken the tools out they would’ve just driven it away so they weren’t trying to steal the van they were getting the stuff out from the inside which means they had prior knowledge of what is in there so what contacts has he had with people in the last few weeks that might’ve been possibly not the best people in the world even casual acquaintances even people he talk to at the local bar

Hey Jimmy! Etienne here from the good old Sunny South Africa, To get rid of ants and bugs in any situation where they tend to take over, use moth Balls. Bugs and ants generally do not like it! I have been using it for many years with loads of happy times after using it.

Here in Oklahoma, the State Insurance Commissioner would get involved if asked. Maybe Florida has an office that might help.

Jimmy, I'm a big fan. Although not an aviator, I really appreciate seeing what goes in to what you do. That said, I have to agree with people who commented on bringing Cletus along on a test flight. I love that you are instilling a love of aviation in your son and involving him in everything you do. However, I believe that testing planes after servicing is a much higher risk activity than normal flying. Things can go wrong. Why bring that added risk to your son? Especially when the engine wasn't acting correctly on the run up. Also why add risk to yourself? If something does go wrong you need your entire concentration on trying to aviate. Please continue to do what you do. I love it. But please spare your child the highest risk aspects of what you do.
