You've asked for it so here it is! The Aussie classic 'Stone' from 1974. The film is a cult classic 'bikie' movie but does it deserve that badge of honor?
spoiler Yes it does!

I was in the funeral scene and the jump into the ocean was filmed just down the road from where I was living . The pub scenes were filmed in the botany pub but that is a story all its own
@Paul-kp1tu

The pub was a Balmain early opener and yes it had history to match anything out of Glasgow

@@Paul-kp1tu my mistake i was thinking of another movie. There were some pretty heavy pubs around in those days especially around the ports in Sydney and in the city itself. The movie was made the same year I started my apprenticeship. Yep i am now a cranky oldish bugger

The Forth & Clyde hotel Balmain. The building still stands but is no longer a pub. The building is heritage listed.

I lived on Bent St and also just above the oval on the bend where he slides out , it was great seeing all my hang outs on TV, even Gore Hill cemetery , I still go there ever week for my job and ask my colleagues if they had seen the movie but I forgot how old I am. Great movie.

" Hey under taker man , that cats a pig " one of my favourite films , shouldnt be judged by a modern eye , but the film for the time wasnt far of.....have visited some of the film locations .... and still live this life 😎It was a platform for many future well known actors . 50th anniversary coming up . Film to check out The Loveless (1981) its a classic !!! dealing with at the time social prejudice , a day in the life of some strange 1960,s nomad characters and the effect on a small truck stop town they have .

Typical mainstream media crapping on a film they don’t understand “This film is a flop” lol. I’ve got a Z900RS now, but back when the film was made I had a Ducati 750S when everyone else had a Z1. Good film review, Reddit gave me the link to your channel.

Hugh Keayes-Byrne provided the comic relief as a drug squad officer in The Man from Hong Kong starring George Lazenby and Jimmy Wang Yu. He was actually a good actor.

It was a good film because there wasn’t much else that depicted bike life in Sydney back then. But it did get a silly cult following so much so that they had a reenactment 20 or 25 yrs later when a while lot of silly buggers got together to pretend they were bikies, somebody died doing it. Still was great to watch the scenes of bikes riding through my suburb and racing around the streets I took to get to work.

I know Sandy died in Wollongong hospital. Is he burried locally ? I am going down to the Weekend With Hooks Festival in Culgoa Vic. Celebrating the legendary cult films- Mad Max, Running on Empty, Stone , Bad Boy Bubby, Wolf Creek. And would like to get a pic of the Gravestone so I can show it to the people on the Stone stand. RIP The Undertaker.😪😪😪

Gritty, dated, and, to be brutally honest, not notable for great acting... but still a thrill to watch, and its easy to see why despite being panned by the critics of the day it was hugely commercially successful and went on to become a cult film. Sad that so many of the protagonists, including actor-producer-scriptwriter-director Sandy Harbutt, are no longer with us... though many of the locations used in the film are open to the public and can be visited today (like the old Forth and Clyde corner pub in Balmain). ps be sure to view the "theatrical cut" released in 2021 as it is a full half hour longer than the 98-minute 1985 video release.

There's one called "Easy Driver" or "Lazy Rider" or so, you know that one? It's about two guys on Choppers and in the end they get shot. Well, you surely don't, I think it didn't really become more than an underground movie and it's not so good, that movie, I think it didn't impress anybody at all....

hahahaha!! Yep, they are bikers in the US but this is an Aussie movie with Aussie slang, we most definitely do call them BIKIES, especially old school dirty denim bikies. Modern day Nike (Ni-key) Bikies call themselves bikers but really they are just wankers doing drug deals in cars and can't ride for shit!
