Don't do this to the beef. U should leave the steak toast at least for 3/4 minutes on one side and 1 minute on the other side. Not moving, slicing and touching the beef all the time.

@@bethreyes1754 I'm not complaining about how he cook, just giving him a tip. When u touch and move the beef all the time it loses the succulus at finish will not be a tender steak. But ok with this, as I said, i'm not complaining.

It's recommended to wipe a paper towel dipped in oil across the surface of the stone before placing the steak on

The fact that a majority of the best quality beef on planet earth is found in East Asia? Hanwoo beef in Korea and the Japanese wagyu varieties, which fun fact are the ancestors of our modern Angus varieties.

i mean, completely bad idea in my opinion...some pieces will overcook, fat will not be rendered, and there is no way of buttering the steak since it is not a pan.
@todome1
@todome1 8 лет назад
+L.A. Chacin Actually that is the point of cooking on stones, ie., you don't have to cook your steak in oils or grease or butter and the fat still renders beautifully. I love steak browned in butter on cast iron, but cooking on stones is different and more interactive. You have to pay attention and work it as you eat. The timing is up to you. Humans have been cooking meat on heated stones for thousands of years.

@@todome1 Hey I know it's been 2 years since your comment, but "How" do they keep this flat stone hot to cook on? Seems like it'll lose its heat with no fire going under it? Any information would be helpful.

ELI5: Stones are super heavy. They are heavy because the molecules are very tightly packed together. This makes their heat capacity pretty sick. Which means if you preheated this stone beforehand (and it's a fat slab), you will finish your steak before the thing will even cool down. I tried it one time, and two of us spent 15 minutes, the thing was still painfully hot to the touch!

its very common in asia to have dining options where you cook your own food. its a lot of fun and everyone gets to interact with the food before they eat it.

For the sake of novelty, no one really cares how much someone rapes a heavenly steak. Only a blasphemer would cut a steak on top of a scorching stone.
