My younger brother and I learned guitar (me) and bass (brother) by playing along to Core. Matter of fact, our first gig we ever played in our first band was mostly songs off that album along with some Nirvana and Foo Fighters tunes. I was 14 then, and I'm 40 now. I wasn't into music until I heard a track off this record, I was 12 years old and I stole this tape from my sister. I started it on the B side and the song Silvergun Superman came on and completely turned me from having an apathetic view towards music into a massive rock fan in a series of minutes, from that point on my whole life up until now has centered around music. It's a hugely underrated song from STP, one of their heaviest riffs ever but still smothered in the psychedelic style they are known for, I highly recommend it.

@@vonVile Yup. This is where they really start expanding their sound. Songs like Pretty Penny, Still Remains and Kitchenware & Candybars begin to demonstrate the band's true versatility. Songs like these weren't immediately appealing to me, but as I dug deeper and even started to learn how to play them on my guitar, I really began appreciating their songwriting ability. If you haven't checked out Perdida (their latest low-key mostly acoustic release), I totally recommend it. It's not the old hard-rocking STP but a more refined, introspective STP that is more in line with tracks like Pretty Penny and And So I Know. Not everyone's cup of tea but I totally bought into it. It is refreshing as it seems like this album showcases many of the bands varied musical interests. Sure they can rock out, but they can also play a mean spanish-inspired guitar song!

STP is a fairly underrated band of the 1990s, they had so many hits and was a big part of what I heard on the radio growing up. They draw from many influences from smooth jazz to psychadelic to grunge to pure rock, amazing succinct but explorative. Scott Weiland was a modern rock star, with the highs and the lows, may he rest in peace. The guitarist and bassist are brothers and the way they work together without exactly following each other works like magic. The drummer has such perfect touch to amplify the flow of the songs. The artistry of 90's radio music is some of the best. STP are among the A class. Sometimes albums aren't the best but the HITS are hits, if you catch my drift brah.

in my 20's I decided to start playing bass guitar (after being a rhythm guitar player) and became quite good. My teacher was DeLeo and stp. I knew the first three albums note for note complete on bass. Im 51 now and still use the intricacies that I learned from deleo to deconstruct the shit that is out there today. amazing

The guitar chords in the chorus really take it to the next level. Instead of playing the regular G-A-C chords, he plays them in the G chord formation and sliding up the neck.

One of my favorite songs. Found you when you posted that first tool reaction. Really enjoy what you do. You do so many songs that I have loved and explain to me why it is that I love them. Been moving to a new home and had to put you on the back burner for a while. When I came back you did one of my favs. Keep doing what you do!! Love it!

This album was recorded by the great Brendan O' Brien. His signature style was to get a live sound in the studio. I love how all his recordings sound. He really knows how to engineer a record and make it sound big but still very organic. I always say that when you are listening to a Brendan O' Brien mix it sounds as if you are in the same room as the band and they are performing an intimate concert for you and a few friends.

With all those grunge and Seattle bands people remember from that time, looking back STP was probably my fave of the period, hard to beat their first two albums. And this being on the Crow sdtrk too, just the feel of that whole thing, really takes me back to the early 90s

Crazy I heard this song on the radio on the way home from work at night and I thought this would be a great song for you to decompose, and you did it on the same day. I was just thinking of imagery of Scott driving a red or black 80's model camaro as he's stoned face serious in another place in his head late at night. The opening lyric with the slide just pushes hard the tone of the song.

STP is some of the craziest chords I've ever played on guitar. I call them upside down chords.
