Short 20-minute documentary of The Rolling Stones on the road at the European leg of the '76 tour
Interviews with Bill Wyman, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts (At these interviews you can see some indications that he doesn't really love what he's doing) plus some interview with the roadies and the crew who make all happen
Enjoy!

I imagine that was par for the course during the 1970s. And not just for the Stones. No wonder rock musicians are dropping like flies in recent years. Cocaine is a killer.
@davidmellish3295
@davidmellish3295 2 года назад
@@gimmeshelter1969 cocaine isn't really a killer,alcohol and tobacco kill far far more. The government statistics are 34 out of every 100 000 users die from alcohol. Yet 6 out of every 100 000 users die from illegal drugs and that's not just cocaine that's all of them put together. Cocaine kills hardly any people at all really,most that die from it are the dealers shooting each other for control of the vast profits;so if they legalised it then that would take away the money and power from these ruthless ,violent people. Again it's the MONEY they kill each other for,the drugs don't matter,when alcohol was illegal the same thing happened and if they made sugar illegal then there would be 'sugar barons ' killing each other for control of the enormous profits the same way the drug lords do today and the booze barons did in the 20s

I saw the 78' Tour and they were full of drugs and creativity and brilliance. Saw them again years later when they were "cleaned up" and the show was so boring and to the letter with all the now infamous Stones moves it seems as though they were just going thru the motions and posing. It was awful. I'd never pay to see them again, but that 78' show was what a concert should be.

Now the band is almost just caricatures of what they use to be. Christ, retire already. It's over. It was a brilliant run but they should have been smart enough to quit while they were on top instead of what they've become. And the sad thing is the tickets now are inflated to the point of thievery yet they are just shit live.

max welter You have a point. They are calculated now down the the enth degree as a live act and have lost the magic along the way. In the 70's when they were bad they were bad, but when they got it right they were magical. Someone put it well when they said fans now go along to watch The Stones live to say they have seen the legend as a spectacle (perhaps for the last time). Lets just be grateful they're still kicking and we can see them. We may only have 10 years left to do that.

@@benfrost124 How about 'A Bigger Bang?' and about every Stones album since the 80s... maybe one or two good songs and the rest is tedious crap or complete shite. Voodoo Lounge would probably be the best album by them in more recent years which again has about 4 great songs and the rest is completely forgettable. Sure they are a great legendary band and put on huge shows and Ive seen them several times but I think they certainly are not making the great albums like they did in the 60s and 70s. They are only human and there is only so much anyone can do that is great and dependent on all kinds of factors, dynamics and perspective. I see it happen to just about every band... once they become hugely successful they lose the plot... whether its drugs, money, inner conflict or the usual rock cliches. When Mick Taylor left the band the Stones took a quality nose dive . Taylor elevated their music to a higher level ,like chocolate syrup on ice cream , it was like Zeppelin had Page , Cream had Clapton , the Stones had Taylor. Ron Wood didn't even bring what Brian Jones brought to the Stones musical ability.

elvisP Think aul' Willy below might have an anger management problem...yep you're right that Mick did bring something extra to the band, i wouldn't compare with Brian Jones as his skill was in how many different instruments he could master whereas Mick was perfect for the more rocky bluesy Sticky Fingers, Exile and Goats Head era...to be fair to Ronnie i think the Stones were already on a slow decline just as Mick left, not saying they haven't done anything decent since as i even enjoy the recent stuff but that early 70's material was def the Stones peaking...

This was the time Mick Taylor made a colossal mistake of leaving the Rolling Stones the previous year. The band was finally getting to a point where there collective earnings would be in the Millions. Ronnie Woods slid right in there and mopped up right along with the best of them. Over the years Mick Taylor made all kinds of lame excuses as to why he left the Stones. Taylor was a very talented musician. Unfortunately Taylor was a very untalented businessman. To this day Taylor moans about being in the poor house. He plays small venues and earns enough to barely pay his light bill. In a recent interview, Taylor was flipping through past due bills to decide what to pay and what to hold off on paying. It should be noted Mick Taylor gained a lot of weight in recent years. Because of Taylor's recent financial troubles, he should get on board with Weight Watchers pitching there product doing commercials to increase his earnings and quit whimpering like a little girl over his stupidity of leaving the Stones just when they were getting ready to reap the lucrative financial rewards of many years of sacrifice.

Are you one of those guys who can never be wrong? A know it all? Sorry but you were a little off this time......"IN MY OPINION!" Which is something you might want to include in your post's? Why not simply tell people "you believe 76 sucked"....opposed to TELLING US IT SUCKED AND WE ARE STUPID IF WE DISAGREE??? Did I say 76 was one of greatest? No, just reminding you it had some good moments. I love 70-74 (my fav Stones, Zep, and Who material) but my opinion does not mean shit and neither does yours! Music is art and art is subjective. You and I both know Shawshank Redemption is better than Waterworld...BUT SOMEWHERE OUT THERE??....there are people who don't agree. Why can't they like what they like? When I was younger, I called them out and made fun of them. Now I realize, they are entitled to an opinion. Who made me (or you) boss? They are not WRONG, (maybe they are in a very small minority), but there is no person or even science out there, hat can prove they are wrong. Don't be one of these idiots who are going TELL people Jimmy Page is better than SRV or SLASH is better than Jeff Beck This is no right answer. Nobody KNOWS who is best? Clapton or Jimi? BB or Buddy? Pete or Keith? It's all about what sounds good. Why can't people just agree that any lead guitar player for a great band, is very special and talented, Must we order them from 1-10? Bottom line is that there are probably a dozen guys better than any of them that we will never hear about b/c they did not have the breaks those guys did. Timing is everything! So Big Phucking deal I forgot 76 was Petty's first album (also not bad with American Girl, Wild One Forever & American Girl) and not Torpedoes. (which I prefer) I do my posts off memory not research, so I was wrong, I'm human. That still does not mean 76 was so terrible. A good-bye to The Band with The Last Waltz concert (and film) recorded at Winterland, Night Moves a total classic from Segar, America's introduction to AC/DC and Tom Petty. Older guys might not want to admit it, but anyone who says he did not love the first Boston album (as a teen) is full of it. Boz Scaggs released his classic Silk Degrees and Fly Like An Eagle is another great album that everybody loved. Even Black and Blue is ok with me. Not up to par with prior Stones work, but Fool to cry, Memory Motel, Hand of Fate, and Crazy Mama are 4 tracks, that are better than many albums ever have..

Mick Jagger can't sing live. He's horrible. He doesn't sing --- he talks, and he does so in a monotone. There is no variation in tone.

Some nights are better than others. I’ve heard recordings from the 69 and 73 tours where his voice sounds fantastic. It has sounded consistently good G every show I’ve seen since 1989.
