What's up everybody?! I'm George King and I'm here to post The Rolling Stones! Fuck yeah!!! Bootleg recordings both in studio and live with a small description of it Enjoy and have a pleasant life
My first concert. Me and 3 other 15-year-olds piled into Bobby's parents station wagon (he was 16, so had a drivers license) and went down to The Cotton Bowl. It defined our lifestyle for many years ;) . Taking my wife and teenage boys to the show in Denver tonight. Life goes full circle.
Was a hug stones fan but was 14 when they toured in 81 and never saw them . Was disappointed how flat they guitars were and jaggers voice just dull . Then seen bootlegs from Seattle and Dallas that sounded a lot better than what I heard back then
Great to hear the instigator of Its Only Rock'n'roll getting to enjoy playing it live !! ..and as for Woodys contribution solo to Can't Always Get You Want...MAGNIFICENT!!
I was there too! and like other folks on here bought tickets at Caper's Corner. I hear that its no longer there. You could buy a GA ticket for the field only - it was like $9.00. It was hot and the smell of beer and weed was everywhere. I took a Quaalude and stumbled around trying to avoid the puddles of vomit on the turf.
George, a belated THANKS for posting this! Interesting all the flack you've gotten over the years for your fair and accurate critique. I was there. Fourth row, directly in front of Bill Wyman. Expecting a reprise of their already iconic '72 MSG performances, I couldn't have been more excited as the lights dimmed. And I just sat/stood there after the epic lotus-petal unfolded into HTW wondering, where's the magic? Why aren't I feeling anything? Where's that jolt of electricity I felt 3 years earlier in D.C.? The Stones are sufficiently gifted and professional to get "the job" done despite going through the motions. Sadly, a shorter, better paced, tighter set would have done them (and us) a world of good. (They were a different -- and far superior -- band 3 years later at a small club show!)
I was 13 years-old and lived about 2 miles from this venue (Louanne's) and I would have blown a gasket had I known of this happening! I had just started getting serious playing guitar. I WAS SO CLOSE, BUT SO FAR AWAY!
Yeah I know it's hard to have always the things what i want, but it's a great chance to get you tubes for hear the stones in a past, now I like always the stones but it's not a same 🎼🎶🎙🎷🪇🥁🎸🎺🎹🎼🎶🎶 billy preston was good that tour who made one concert in " la villette " in Paris before the store of the french go to rungis 😉❤️❤️🫶‼️👋
Thank you for sharing this, brings back sooo many memories! My first time seeing the Stones, not my last. One of my favourite bands!! I remember the day like it was yesterday, was there in the windy stadium with my high school sweetheart. Poured rain most of the day, did not put a damper on the show at all, George Thorougood and Journey were amazing as well… have the t-shirt I bought when I was there. Love the Stones!
Was the tour (not this one, the 76 European tour, the Paris concert) when I discovered the Stones.. A Bang & Olofsen store near by home, in Lisboa, a friend passed by, VHS tape on color TV.. Told us great concert on the store.. Day after him, me and a few.. A week after a lot of kids... The man in the store was OK.. Do you want louder?... Yes, OK please... Then we all started buying records, my first I remember was Get Yer, This one Love you live, Black and blue, Some Girls ( Great gig disco and punk album).. We all became great fans, first concert in Madrid 7 July 1982 with 48 degrees and a thunderstorm when they go to stage play Under my thumb.. World soccer 1982 and lot of Italian girls..! Then they became angry each other and bought Keith with the X Pensive Winos record... Never bought Mick albums, but some good songs.. In 1990 (or 1989 in USA) they make the peace after the war, great tour.. And the rest of the story was go, We all go I suppose, to see all of them several times.. My friends and me were the third generation I think to know the Stones.. In 77, 1978.. Know almost everything.. The "Who's the Stones best times, álbuns, Mick Taylor was fabulous, Ron Wood don't know what.. Etc.. They adapt to times, even in songs, great guitar with Taylor, but late 70's don't fit, Ronnie Wood was a good choice, between the Punk and New Wave, this one with a lot of Great Bands, and Clash and Ramones much better than Pistols.. Stones still Rock and Roll, more straight to the point, etc.. OK etc.. Got to stop.. Regards to all
Jeff Beck's versions of both Cream and Led Zeppelin. The great Ron Wood on bass. Then Ron played some great lead and rhythm guitar with the Faces. Jeff in top form hear, playing off the drums, the bass, and Rod's vocals. America 🇺🇸 was blessed with 2 tours of this wonderful band.
I just randomly came across this post and realized that the concert photo used on the thumbnail was taken by me. I took about 100 shots at this KC show, I was 13 years old at the time. I thought it looked familiar.
